krysta's acting is what impresses me the most about her. EVERY song she sings, she's not just singing it, she passes so much emotion that make me feel what the real meaning of the song is

Wow I really didn't think this song was so tragic until now... Smash made me think differently.. But Krysta is amazing as always.

I love the choices that are made during this song. Just the little things. Like her slight swaying makes it look like she's falling. Also, it's just such a beautiful comparison to the classic journey to Broadway. Beautiful piece. A real tear-jerker.

Once again, one of the most beautiful combinations, Mr. Iconis' music and Krysta's gorgeous voice. Love!

This song is so sad. The juxtaposition is beautiful, but tragic.

Well, apparently the song was written pre-Smash -- but within the context of Hit List, it does have several different meanings, as it's reprised several times. The first time, it's kind of sarcastic, when the Diva kills Amanda. The second time it's very much about suicide. And the final time it's happy. So it has many meanings and they are all correct.

I think this song is about a person who wants to become famous so bad, (on Broadway) and its so hard for them, they don't seem to be getting anywhere.... the get on a building and jump. and the words describe how she/he doesn't want people to cry about them, I mean their getting what they've always wanted... fame. there's gonna be movies, and Broadway shows about them... so in the end. they got what they wanted.

I always wondered how good her voice was on SMASH, but now I see that her range is high and she was usually singing songs in her lower register. But yeah. I can hear those pipes in this vid.

What's the other meaning to this song? I'm reading the comments and I can see it's not as literal as it seems. anyone know?

Lol at all of the people commenting about how this song is from SMASH... it was written way before that people :) and Krysta Rodriguez can ousting Katharine McPhee by a mile

I didn't like this version at all sorry. But i still luv you Krysta. Anyway i am so confused of the meaning can some one explain it to me, so many people are saying something different. I'm getting from it that the first verse is about how someone feels like they should go to end their stress but the rest of the song is like they are over coming it and achieving their dreams. I don't watch Smash but found the song does anyone have a different take or a correct meaning if i am wrong.

The writer discussed that he wrote this song when he was in a really difficult place in his theatre career. He said he was comparing making it on Broadway to jumping off a building and leaving it open to interpetation.

I think that as an actor you need to figure out what the song means to you. I don't think there is a correct or an incorrect meaning if it relates to you.
@Theater00jock

Just to be clear though, Joe Iconis said that it is literally about someone jumping off the roof and comparing it to the way they felt coming to New York and trying to make it on Broadway.

OOOORRRRRR how they've reached the top, thru it all, they've seen thick and thin. and they don't know whether its time for them to retire, or maybe their just failing at their career hence "I'm falling baby thru the sky, its my calling (to fail? Idk) toward the street that I'm from (back to the beginning?) the pressure increases (they're almost ready to give up) I could almost go to pieces (contridictingly says no, not today and now they're looking at life in a more positive manner.) the people all are pointing, I bet they'd never guess.

Katharine definitely sings this way better! This is actually quite pitchy. She's good as the diva though.

I like Krysta, but I think in her efforts to act out the emotions on this song, she sacrificed the vocals too much.
