They really like to exaggerate on what they are doing. “So we are going to add some salt, which is going to add flavour, shine, consistency, love, and fun fact salt is a crystal and crystals are strong so you will become strong.
Made this one evening and early the next morning I had a 3 hr drive with the worst farts ever!! I’ll never forget that journey and neither will the car seat!!
ya' know. i noticed that too, but it appears that the thing was empty to me b'cause i didn't even see a speck of the food as he rushed thru that part...;-)
Agreed, a pathetic attempt of a famous chef to make a "tasty" broccoli soup. Oh, that's a real shame. May be my 6 month old son can eat it....or he too would think it's horrible.
Brittany Claar I just said cheese not goat cheese haha but there is no way it justifies the fake price I gave it. 15 bucks for 1 pound of cheese. That would make like 100+ soups. You make your money back on one soup. Also. Soup.
nottheonlysinner Yes, if you're literally just looking at the food the price is often outrageous. But once you start taking in the business aspect of it all, the price isn't all that too radical. First off, Michelin star chef's recipe, already a premium luxury charge for the prestige of it (just like say for example, difference between going to a basketball camp taught by a no name high school coach as to, going to a camp taught by Hakeem Olajuwon. The credibility, prestige difference gap is huge). You're also paying for the highest quality ingredients available in the market as these calibre of restaurants would only be using fresh, top-notch ingredients prepared daily; something you most definitely cannot get in restaurants usually. Not even when you're cooking at home most often. Higher salary for higher quality BOH staff, often with more experience and trained better than say local restaurants. Higher salary for best quality FOH staff who often provide the best dining service possible. These restaurants are often located near the downtown of bigger cities which evidently results in higher rent prices, so that goes in there as well. High quality interior that creates a unique atmosphere for better dining experience, requires constant, up-to-date maintenance. On top of all that all the hydro and electricity bills, as well as separate industrial level gas line that needs to be installed separately and also paid separately (for the grills etc.). You take all these into account, you really can't complain. Again, especially when you're experiencing a Michelin star-calibre food.
As a teacher I find Ramsey to be one of the most enjoyable to learn from... he cuts straight to the bottom line and gets rid of all the filler that other cooking videos don't cut out. I don't think I'd ever want to work for him though.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, for this GREAT recipe ! I made it and my family and I couldn't stop eating it. Dinner was ready in 10 minutes. I never boil vegetables, so I steamed the broccoli. I garnished the top with shredded mixed cheese, round mushrooms and parsley. A fair amount of salt really makes it tasty.
Lololol thats hillarious! Its something a mother heres from her teenager learning to cook broccoli soup it looks horrible. I want my chicken stalk and milk and everything cheese onions lil garlic i like penara broc soup.
When I watched this video, I was sure that I wouldn’t like that soup; but when I actually made it, I surprisingly liked it a lot! I was looking for the really healthy broccoli soup, but everybody else showed very unhealthy one (though probably tasty). Thank you sooo much for the healthy and delicious recipe!
Many people complain about the taste of broccoli, but it all depends on how they're prepared. This recipes was simple, yet delicious, and the chef's instructions were great
@Andres Porras Because there isn't really much to this recipe. I get that the simplicity is part of the appeal, but he literally just boils broccoli and then blends it with some of the water. Season with salt and pepper, I guess. I have no doubt that this is pretty good, but I was just expecting a bit more. He doesn't add any cream, or garlic, or lemon juice, or mushrooms, or anything really. Yes, there's cheese, but its more of a garnish than an addition to the soup.
He could deep fry a dog turd and you would claim it fabulous just because this idiot did it....I watched him teach students how to cook lobster and he never even removed the rubber bands on the claws....Rubber is such a great flavor...NOT!
@Blondie053 um how would u know if hes black? And thats racist calling him ghetto lol he could be white im half italian which is european and mestizo not black but tbh the soup needs seasioning or it will taste bland i cook curry imagine if i never added curry spice and only salt no need to get upset cuz he thought it wasnt seasioned properly
I tried this recipe today and thought it would taste like nothing but it's actually really good. Better than any other broccoli soup I've tried before. So thanks Gordon Ramsey!
I've made this. It's better than ANY broccoli soup I've ever had. Maybe sprinkle a few bacon bits on top, but 9/10 times I eat it as is with crusty cheese toast on the side. I need to make Gordon's Welsh Rabbit to go with this...
I would have thought the same but for some reason I have always loved broccoli, maybe its one of this things like cilantro. Some people are genetically repulsed by it and others love it?
To the people who want to make this soup: You can use the broccoli stem as well. It doesn't taste any different than the rest. You just have to peel it and chop it up finely. Never waste anything.
I've actually tried this recipe/technique, and it's great for a satisfying supper. I actually thought it would be light, but it fills you up surprisingly, even without the cheese and walnuts! I like these recipes that focused on technique
Hmmm....looks like baby food peas. I make my broccoli soup with onions, fresh garlic, celery, broccoli of course and chicken stock. Saute the onion, garlic and celery in a soup pot in 2 TBSP butter, add the broccoli to the pot, add salt and pepper and saute for about 2 minutes. Add 4-5 cups of chicken stock, bring to a boil, then turn down to medium with lid on until broccoli is bright green and tender. Take off the burner, and use a hand blender to desired consistency. You can add a strong cheese shredded on top of your bowl of soup if desired. Serve with crusty bread. BAM!
well no i prefer going with the bunions, did you know bunions are more common in women approximately 30% of the Western population experiences bunions, with rates as high as 74% in elderly populations in non-shoe wearing populations bunions occur in about 3% of the population Wear shoes with narrow toes. Walk with your feet turned out
I'm thinking he deprived of coke on hells kitchen..which makes him angry and enraged at his sou chefs... nothing is good enough until hes had a generous line..and a full stomach of quality food 🤷🏾♀️
Completely agree, trying to add more healthy low calorie meals to my diet, this is definitely going to be a staple. Super easy, tasted delicious, and really savory so a break from many of the more acidic ones I eat.
I made this the other night with JUST the stocks of the broccoli and it was sooooooo good. It's so easy and quick, tomorrow I shall try it with florets.
4:22 This is similar to how a shaman blesses a room by wafting incense on the walls. This is a true masterclass on how to create a mouthwatering environment for supper. 🥦
Some dishes are just better simple. You don't have to over complicate every dish. If he says it's good enough the way it is then I believe the chef with the Michelin stars. You as a cook at home are always welcome to tweak any recipe the way you want it but, sometimes you can ruin it by trying to over complicate the dish. I think about a lobster, steak, or piece of fish. You don't have to do much to it it's good all by itself with just some butter and seasoning. He's just trying to highlight the natural flavor of that fresh broccoli and make that the main thing in the broccoli soup with out over powering it.
Direct X just because someone is a chef doesn't mean that he can make every dish the best, they do fail also believe it or not...adding some onion or some vegetable broth would definitely make it better....now you made pureed broccoli not soup...soup starts with a base, this hot water broccoli pure is just for idiots who can't cook.
My mom always says you don't put something thats boiling hot into the blender. But I guess Gordon Ramsay can afford to buy as many new blenders as he needs.
Uh I dunno if this is why their mom said it but from what I know it is that the heat can damage the blades & too much heat can cause the blender to crack/break. It doesn’t matter if it’s plastic or glass.
this is good if you want a light dinner but if you wanted something a bit more filling i would do some of the broccoli stock and then some cream or milk
