Brock Purdy Shares Offseason Goals, Elevating His Skill Set in Year 3 

He had 3 TDs in 3 playoff games this year. I think it’s fair to say most teams need more than that out of their QB.

I also don't understand it. I have to admit that after Steve Young retired I started pulling for Kurt Warner. I don't remember Kurt getting the flack that Brock has been getting, even though their stories are similar. Maybe if the 49ers win a SB the trash will stop. Or it might just take years of excellent stats.

It doesn't work that way. Hurts, Burrow, and Goff all lost a superbowl. They make big money. Cousins has 400 million for one playoff win. Look at Herbert, Allen, Lamar, Dak, Carr, Murray, Jones. They just gave Baker a big contract. That list hasn't even made a superbowl. All make big money. Brock will get the bag.

Why should Brock Purdy have to meet an unreasonable standard other NFL quarterbacks getting paid big money don't meet themselves?

They have shown they have a very high standard at QB and I hope they keep it that way. I don’t care what other teams do, if they want to make mistakes good for them, that’s not a good reason to follow them and make the same mistake. Purdy is surrounded by pro bowlers, if he can’t get it done with them then he will never get it done without them once he’s taking up 50x more cap space. And nobody is moving goalposts. Yeah it’s a good idea to pay a franchise QB a big contract. Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, these are true franchise QBs and their teams will still be in contention even after they get their new contracts. The mistake is paying a system QB like Daniel Jones big money, not just paying any QB big money. What’s the difference? A franchise QB can still win when things aren’t going well around them. A system QB would, for instance, go 0-3 with 6 turnovers the moment Deebo and Trent get injured, like what happened to Brock Purdy this past season. That’s a preview of what the team could look like with Purdy getting a big contract because he would essentially be taking up the cap space committed to Trent and Deebo.

Thing about Brock is he’s always striving to do better. He’s not a quitter. He’s only just begun, getting wet behind the ears. Last year was his first full year and he led the 49ers to the NFC championship win. That’s amazing!! Of course more amazing is winning the SB. I have full faith in Brock and our 49ers. Go Niners!!
