What’s really funny is that among all the ‘weekend heroes’ with their snorkels & big wheels a couple of standard Range Rovers & modern Discoverys just drive through without any fuss.
@@laytonsri150 Agree, it is rare. But what most owners don't realise is how competent they are the L405 Range Rover has a wing dtph of 900mm. That's nearly a foot more than a standard Defender.
That the spirit! The kids enjoying, the adults too, i love that video, it reminds me of the times when i was a child and went offroading with my father with our jeep that we still having! Amazing video! Regards from Uruguay!
I sure hope so. My dad had a white Defender 90, my uncle has a much older 90 and a newer 90, and he recently sold a 110. Only issue with me getting one now would be that they've been discontinued. I really want a white 110, but I want it with 9 seats because I could become a ferry :P Oh, in your personal opinion... Which one should I try and get... V8 or TDI? Knowing that I'll be doing a lot of off-roading and wading.
+Joe Tippett I really couldn't tell you which one is best as i don't know much about Land Rovers, but i'm sure there are forums on the internet for them, that would be a good place to start, they usually have lots of info.
I've watched a few of these types of videos lately and the learner driver always seem to have the best technique. A small bow wave without too much momentum......
as much as I like Land Rover Defenders.... I might stick to my lifted 4Runner with a snorkel, and 35 inch tires on a 4 inch lift, thanks though for the advertising! haha, liked the video. :)
Hey, great vid! Do you have any more footage of vehicles going through the floods yesterday? Someone was recording me driving a Tesco van down Rhinefield Road, I wanted to see what it looked like! :)
I'd love to come down and watch this, if only I wasn't working! Yeah that was me, had a nightmare afternoon getting all those Brock deliveries done! Someone was trying to get through the watersplash on waters green in a Honda Jazz :O shocking! I noticed a few people were recording stuff so just having a look about to see if I got famous :)
Well what a moby talk about no idea I know it's fun but blasting through water like that imagine the pressure that the water is blasting into the engine bay !!!
And to air intake - that is what killed that old Defender without snorkel. You should drive very slowly through water, other guys could have some fun only because they had snorkels. This flood look like you could drive with normal car but just slowly without building up a big wave in front of you.
@@Saeglopur89Actually the proper way to wade through water is to create a bow wave in front of you and you wont do that by driving very slowly as you say :)
Really cool situation, thanks for sharing it! But could you please hold your camera still? I`m getting car-sick and a headache watching the unsteady filming.. :-)
Thank you, and sorry about the shaky camera, i was using an old camera that doesn't have image stabilisation, plus being really cold didn't help, lol 😁
Thats because most on here are modified Landies, and the birk who stopped is in a bog standard one, with no idea how to wade in water properly! There's always one lol
Yes the twits with the land rovers are just driving back and forth creating waves because they have nothing else better to do and no off road routes to play on. Feel sorry for the people in the nearby house who is getting the effects of the waves.
I did it with my dad's old and smallest car of india named "Tata Nano" .. it was too difficult to cross the flood with that small machine powered by 625 CC petrol engine with just 37 bhp power and 51 NM torque.. Still I made it .. good thing was that my car's ground clearance was 180mm ..you can check its video on my channel.. hope you people would like my achievement..
If you mean the one that got stuck at the end of the video, then yes, he didn't have a snorkel or any other modifications so that it could go through deep water.
all very well showing off, got a landy, but remember the components under your bonnet which is not waterproof, like you will be replacing your alternator soon, due to a knackered diode, and it goes on lol.
I had to deal with a distressed elderly lady whose house was flooded by these idiots, in the end I had the police stop one who was racing up and down, he ended up at the magistrates court for criminal damage.
+Richard Cave LBPPA Not at this watersplash, i've lived here for over 40 years, & none of the houses that you can see in this video has ever had flood damage.
Small toddlers running through moving water right beside a very fast flowing body of water coupled to a squad of donkeys taking the water crossings far too fast and obscuring their own sight lines with waves and probably not seeing the kids running around - what could possibly go wrong here 🤔.
+roddyk05 Nothing went wrong & never has at this river, but if think about the what ifs & what probably could happen, you might as well never leave the house.
What about the poor home owner that get a wave of water up their front path and into their home every time an idiot decides to drive through just because he can?
@@jayballuk and yes I am watching it again and still laughing!!! idiots...somebody even speaks on the vid about patrolman Dave going round and round.....Oh and I still drive a U1300L and a Pinz 710K.
Much as I love my Land Rovers (I've had 4 myself and still have one) - these clowns are just wankers. But I suppose driving through a couple of little puddles is the extent of their 4 wheel driving skills (and some of them can't even manage that without needing a tow).
+Nigel Bird None of the properties get flood damage from what these guys are doing, & never have been, Also, none of these guys work in a factory, but if they did, what does that have anything to with what's going on here?
funbus Using the public roads as a playground??, there are playdays available as you are aware?? driving thru the flood water faster than you should?? Surely you know this?? Repeatedly driving around the same junction time & time again?? Der!!! Like I said, irresponsible.
+@@nigelbird3576 That's your opinion that they're driving through faster than they should, they weren't breaking the speed limit, and their vehicles are built for deep water, so the speed is fine, also, why pay for playday, when you can drive through a river for free. At the end of the day, they're just having a bit of fun & not harming anyone, so what's the problem?
funbus Driving through a river?? Really? Looks like a flood to me.. and as for being built to drive in deep water, What happened to the Landie that got stuck?? I’ll tell you shall ? - He drove through too fast, obviously doesn’t know how to drive in those conditions! Fact. Like I said, irresponsible and childish.
@@nigelbird3576 Yes it's a river, but if you want to be picky, it's a watersplash or ford, but it's a river that crosses a road, and even though that Landie got stuck, at least he was having fun, which is what this is all about, they do this when having a break from towing out stuck motorists, and they do it for free!
