Brodix heads for the the Z28!
Today I install a set of Brodix IK180 heads on my 1973 Camaro Z28 to wake it up. These heads will bump up the compression a full point and the improved design should increase efficiency. However I encountered a few problems during the install and in this video I will let you know what they are.

I love it already! I just ordered some ik200’s today for my solid roller 327 Sbc and I’ve been wanting someone on RU-vid to JUS CHANGE THE HEADS! Everyone changes cam and etc… I want to see what just heads will do going from unported double him, 2.02/1.60 bronze valve guide heads to aluminum. I’ll be watching this closely and subbed!

Just another note here, hopefully I’m correct…you should actually be able to run up to 1 point higher in compression with aluminum heads without hurting the detonation factor. Do some research and if I’m incorrect, please let me know! 🙏🇺🇸

I think they make guidenplates that slide for fine adjustment each rocker can be aligned individually. I almost have given up on those, fulcrum ball roller tips self align and don't really need the guide plates at all. I had an aluminum rocker break also. Nice rs.

Deja vu - I went through the exact scenario with my first car long ago. Thinking of what came out of the 80s/90s, just about every car magazine seemed to have an annually required "Cam Swap!" story, in which the heads were a footnote or nearly forgotten. So I can vouch that with 75cc chambers on a 355, so much is left on the table with a 290 cam it isn't funny. People swapped cams... and wonder what happened. I believe you will like those IK180's, and from what is mentioned of the existing cam, do the math for DCR and I suspect you find shaving the deck to get between 10.2 and 10.5 to 1 is a sweet spot - existing 64cc chambers are likely near bullseye 10 to 1 [assuming zero decked], and you should grab a little more compression having 234@0.050" - how much more depends on [0.006"] intake close point. As a bonus, getting cr where the cam is happy might also make that single plane wake up. I think Bill Jenkins preference for any pump gas build was to get dcr in the 8.1 to 8.3 range, and... he was a walking encyclopedia of all things engine. Hope you got that #4 cylinder sorted out - skirts are likely heavily scuffed and walls like that usually mean a fair amount of blow-by. Needs a proper machine shop hone & rings as found, and maybe a new piston: throw the dingleball in the trash. Good catch on the springs by the way: being oversprung with flat hydraulics is a mistake.

I’d like to know myself.. I’ve been trying to find some reviews with real # on these heads . I’ve got an L-82 with the stock heads and just makes me wonder if there’s any power added (how much if any ) or just the weight advantage

180 meaning the runner volume but these heads flows as cast around 250cfm
