It's time for us to delve further into the new Lovebites album. We landed on Soldier Stands Solidarity. . . . I do not own the rights to the music in this video. . . . Original video: • Soldier Stands Solitarily
Thought it was fine (I dig LOTR) and certainly could've been worse. The ultimate MV for this song (for me) would be the 5 ladies on top of a giant wolf statue (standing on the head) shredding this song while the entire earth is in an apocalyptic state. They are defending heavy metal (real heavy metal) from being wiped from the earth forever. Like the cover of their Heavy Metal Never Dies CD which I have and is an absolute banger. The imagination us humans have, eh? 🤘
Lovebites are on a level rarely reached, which is why so many comparisons are made with the greats of old, band maid are high level but not the level of "greatest", and the genres of music are different
They’re completely different. The only thing things they have in common are being 5 pieces bands made up of Japanese women. It’s like comparing Led Zeppelin to Iron Maiden. It makes no sense.
The drummer 4'1" Haruna... Has a cuple of nick names by her fans. With much love a popular one is: "The little Machine"... Dont forget that she and the others do this tempos and with tightness whole concerts... Cant express how much I love this band... Thank you for a great chanel. Love from Stockholm Sweden/ J
This is the greatest compliment. LOVEBITES has been featured in various Japanese magazines and on national television since the beginning of this year. Initially, we focused on Europe, starting with the United Kingdom. Then we had a successful European tour. Finally, we thought the U.S. would be next, but with the departure of Covid19 and the band leader, we had to take a break for a while. Today, although I am just one fan, I am very happy and encouraged by your comments. Please continue to support LOVEBITES.
Holy cow.....Haruna it's a crazy drum machine with incredible skills to know how to keep and change the ritm but still alltime driving has metronome. Mihaco and Midory and Miho are incredible almost not natural humain been guitars and bass players..Asami voice was just AMAZING and incredible voice she his from another world. To good. As you says in your reaction about the metal world in USA.. but they already conquer Europe and they have allready many followers in States too . They are musically all gifted and blessed from the Heay metal gods . Nice reaction from you.
That's exactly what I've been saying since I discovered this band - they have to be HEARD by metal fans in the USA and the rest of the world so everyone can see how talented this band is. I've been trying my best to promote them in any way I can. I hope others do the same. If Lovebites can get out to doing major festivals again, the places where metal fans gather, their career should take off. As amazing as they were in 2019 when they last did festivals, think how much they have improved since then, their last two full length albums are chock full of amazing songs. When they start playing them the crowds will grow bigger and bigger.
I think you are right about them playing big festivals. I do wonder if they would want to do the long grinding touring (and probably make no money) needed to build an audience in the US?
@@Sabundy I REFUSED TO GO TO A TRASHY FESTIVAL TO SEE NEMOPHILA. I WOULD GO TO ONE DAY OF AFTERSHOCK IF THEY PUT ALL JBANDS ON THE SAME DAY. MOST AMERICAN BANDS ARE OVERRATED OVER HYPED JUST AVERAGE COMPARED TO THE JAPANESE BANDS. I SAW VIDEO OF AFTERSHOCK AND THE CROWD WAS PATHETIC AND BARELY ENGAGED WITH THE JBANDS. AMERICA SUCKS. ENGLAND AND GERMANY FESTIVALS TREAT BANDS RIGHT!!! THE CROWDS ARE WAY WAY COOLER!!!

I'm 62 and grew up with Maiden. I think Lovebites as a band are more talented. Their compositions, the speed, the layers, to my ears it's just better musicianship. That takes NOTHING away from the great Maiden, but I just feel a band came along and is better. It's like sport records when people say this record will never be broken, and 30 years later it is. Well, 40 years after Maiden, an incredibly talented band across the board came along and for me personally has bested Maiden (and all the other bands of that era that I love, and still do).
Some people get bent outta shape, but you are right--just like medicine, technology, sports--every human endeavor progresses or it dies. Music is no exception. The classic bands were like the gangs in old Westerns, dueling with six-shooters. Lovebites are like a new gang, showing up in dresses and packing phasers. Call it progress!
We post our age so that younger listeners can see that old farts can appreciate real music, not that the youngsters don't, it's more that they prefer lazy musicians that don't want to work hard to play excellent music instead of generic crap that they listen to nowadays. That's what the world has come to.
The classical elements by Miyako are really strong in this one. I don’t really bother the genre ‘cause at this level of composition and execution you can’t really complain at anything. Other bands try to exploit their excellent music, but these ladies are evolving, getting better and better 🐺🤘🏻
It's definitely one of their best songs yet if not the best one. And in terms of technicality it is hard to beat. It is a perfect showcase of their musical prowess and compositional skills. In fact the whole album is very good and has earned praise from many music publications. Lovebites are getting better with every subsequent release. It's almost scary to think how good they might be in a few years from now.
I discovered Lovebites a little over a year ago. I'm a gen-X er and grew up on metal - Maiden, Priest, Metal Church, Testament, Exodus, Anthrax, Ozzy etc. These are very talented ladies and this song, my favorite on the album, just Fing shreds.
Fun fact, during the live feed when the band listened to the album with the fans Miyako apologized - tongue in cheek of course - to Haruna for the speed of the song 😀 I don't think it's only the US that is closed off to metal - and foreign metal even more. Here in Sweden I can't remember hearing anything harder than ACDC on the radio or TV over the past 20-odd years. Good metal has to travel by word of mouth and that's where people like you come on. Through your reactions you expose your viewers to new bands, new sounds, and these days it seems Japan has something in the water that makes metal very interesting over there. Sweden had it's heyday during the early 90s with the Gothenburg sound, In Flames, At the Gates and bands like that. Today, Sabaton are huge but they've worked hard for 25 years to get here. Metal has always been treated like it's bad when I believe it's the most complicated, technical and skill demanding music of our time - like Mozart and Bach 300 years ago. It's amazing it is as big as it is, considering how it's treated by most countries. The only country I know that plays metal on national radio regularly is Finland. Sorry for the rant. I understand your comparisons with other bands considering how influenced they are with the greats - Maiden, Priest, Slayer, Metallica. There are elements of all that in their music. But Maiden never played this fast 😀
IN AMERICA RUSSIAN/CHINESE COMMUNISTS CONTROL THE MOVIE MAKING INDUSTRY. THEY ALSO CONTROL THE RADIO STATIONS AND MUSIC TV CHANNELS. FINLAND IS A FREE COUNTRY SO METAL MUSIC IS ON THE RADIO. SWEDEN LED THE WAY WITH REFUSING TO LOCK DOWN SCHOOLS DURING THE COVID CRISIS. SO, I BELIEVE SWEDEN STILL HAS A MIND OF IT'S OWN AND THERE IS STILL HOPE TO SAVE SWEDEN FROM CULTURAL SLAVERY.
Amazing song by Miyako. For me their best album. My favorite band for now. For me “stand and deliver” is my favorite of this album. All songs are great. Thanks for this reaction.
I think Asami is finding her ''voice'' as a metal singer on this album. She still has room to grow, but she is an amazing talent. Dissonance and Soldier stands remind me just a bit of the sound of Judas Priest on the Painkiller album. They did just do that amazing cover of Painkiller right before their break of course...Sorry I know comparisons get your channel in trouble. I personally rank Painkiller as my 3rd favorite metal album, so definitely a compliment.
They RELEASED their version of painkiller just before the hiatus, but they had actually first played Painkiller at a concert in Tokyo on November 23, 2019.
@@ChadTheDragonLord I had heard that but obviously no video exists. They killed it btw. and Haruna finally got her epic drum solo. Her cover of the opening to Painkiller gave me chills.
The album Judgement Day is absolutely amazing and I highly recommend checking out more from the album. On a personal note, their 2nd album "Clockwork Immortality" will always be my favorite album from them
Glad you did SSS and good reaction. Fairly certain I could powerwash the outside of my house in record time listening to this on repeat. Haruna is the 4' 9" giant of metal drummers; this is her best work to-date speed wise. She's just a F beast. I've listened to Lovebites for 9mos straight non-stop, not getting bored in the slightest. Here's what I'll say, they are representative of all the great metal bands of the 80s but then add warp speed. They are a breed all unto their own in my opinion, and this song is ALL LOVEBITES. Miyako composed this song before Fami was even announced, imagine what the next album's going to bring with Fami fully onboard. Goodness gracious. I will continue to recommend Lovebites songs as that is the only group I care about right now (others can recommend other bands). Is this their best song to date? "Soldier Stands Solitarily" is one of the best LOVEBITES songs. For example, check out "Dystopia Symphony" (2021), which is dedicated to the Great German composer Ludwig van Beethoven . "Dystopia Symphony" is just as good as "Soldier Stands Solitarily"
@@ChadTheDragonLord In each song, the vocals correspond to the theme and content of the song (meaning) that Asami and Miyako put into them (the authors of these 2 songs). For me, Asami's vocals are equally good in both songs and I like both songs. But if I had to choose one of these songs (as a piece of music), then I would still give preference to "Dystopia Symphony". In my opinion, "Dystopia Symphony" is deeper and more multi-layered in content than "Soldier Stands Solitarily".
From MIYAKO's post with NAMELESS WARRIOR release; "We play heavy metal from here on out." Damn she wasn't kidding. JUDGEMENT DAY melts faces from start to finish. 🤘🐺🤘
I just wished that some reactors would try and promote this unbelievable band, and not make it all about what their opinion is. Thank you guy for trying to encourage especially US listeners to hear brilliance instead of generic crap that is flooding the airwaves nowadays.
i'm not sure if lovebites is the best japanese metal band because Galneryus is still out there, but still i love lovebites one of the best metal bands corrently in the world.
I don't think lovebites will do a co-tour with some big band because they would be the band that opens the shows, and I don't think any band likes to be humiliated before they even play by the openers. Great reaction, this is my favorite song of the new album, is a total banger, and yes I have the Avenged Sevenfold feel too, but on crack
You have and have always had artists who are only known or famous in the US or Europe or Japan/Korea. Outside then only by insiders or nerds. Through RU-vid or similar, these gerographic boundaries are more easily broken. The same applies to all the female musicians who master their instrument world class. Without the Internet they would never have the chance. Quality does not always prevail.
I only did a double take on one written comment…but then you qualified it! (Like Maiden, but on a different level). I’m in Tokyo for the Lovebites 2.0 “Resurrection” show tomorrow. I’m a teensy bit stoked !😊
Give us a full report of how they did, how Fami looked, and how the crowd reacted to Fami and the rest of the ladies. Are you part of the Lovebites Discord group?
@@ChadTheDragonLord no. According to my Japanese friend, the fact my ticket (standing) has 24 on it means I get to be near the front. Some sort of queue system connected with the merchandise.
It's Miyako's 'golden touch' composition. She even said sorry to Asami(vocal) and Haruna(drummer) for such a crazy fast beat and high note. One of their best songs..👍🤘. Thanks guys for great comments 👍
I love Reactions by actual Musicians, Bro. It is indeed sad to see Lovebites struggling with less than 100k subscribers, considering the level of most of their 'competition' in Heavy Metal.
I've played guitar over 30 years and those girls do circles around me. Never fails to amaze me the talent Japanese musicians have now. Marty Friedman was on to something when he moved there 20 years ago.
@@truebrodown It's a 'result' bro. We all know that no matter How Good we are, there is a a 10yo Japanese kid who can play rings around you. Now there are bands full of those 'kids' who are in their 30's, have been professional musicians for 15 years, and are All In The Same Band!! Sobering, but it is still great fun to watch. btw - Saw a clip of Marty meeting up with Dave before he played with Megadeath in Tokyo last month. He was fumbling a bit with his English :0) It was Unreal to see Friedman and Bettencourt on the same stage🤘.
To my friends who have stumbled across the Japanese metal scene through Baby Metal, I always introduce them to Band Maid, Lovebites, Unlucky Morpheus, and (lately) Nemophila. They all fit neatly into several different metal sub-genres. Baby Metal being their own bizarre and unique fusion of idols and heavy metal/dark electronica (Kawaii Metal), Band Maid filling the punk metal role, Lovebites with the more traditional European style clean speed metal, Unlucky Morpheus with a ... I don't even know how to properly describe it except maybe Anime-ish / video game OST style metal sound, and finally Nemophila with the scream / melodic metal sub genre. I think I still hold Lovebites as my favorite amongst them all because it's just the genre that I love the most. However, if you haven't already, I strongly encourage you to give Nemophila a try. They're really, really good as well. They also partially fill the scream metal sub-genre with accompanied by a heavier metal sound (with more "oomph"). But not all of their songs sound the same. Hypnosis was a fairly different departure from what I was used to them producing, yet it simply...worked.
Do they get tired? At some point you would think so, but they do two hour concerts at this pace and end up looking like they could go two more. One of their secrets is extreme economy of motion. Haruna has no wasted motion at all. Midori looks like she is just barely tickling the strings, and Miyako is getting close to her in efficiency.
@Marko L1977 I agree that Dragonforce shreds, but no way on earth could they play every Lovebites song, whereas Lovebites could play every Dragonforce song. The only metal band that I'm aware of that could play every Lovebites songs is Dream Theater. For example, Dragonforce could not play this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WBhtqgiXEA4.html&ab_channel=Hadesillo
@Marko L1977 But that's the whole point. IF a band needs to hire additional talent to be able to cover a song, then that demonstrates that they themselves cannot play that song. Otherwise, you could argue that ANY band could play ANY song, they might just need to hire one or more studio musicians to help them out.
They would be very tough to follow. But bands struggle to follow Hatebreed, Killswitch Engage and Falling in Reverse, but they book them. I believe there is a disconnect between US fans and Japanese Metal. Lockdowns haven't helped the matter either.
I just love them after finding them during Covid lockdowns - but I find the faster they are playing, now is starting to bore me with repetition type solos - yes it has layers - but all the songs seem to be blurring into one. I hope they don't get lost trying to play faster and faster and turning into just another Dragonforce.
You guys are saying what I've been saying for a while now. ...as great as this band is ....and they are.....they have an uphill battle gaining traction in the US. Metal ... especially hard, and fast metal of the type they play just isn't big in the US. The audience in the US has been quite conditioned towards rap, hip hop and shit like Kpop (sorry ...it's shit to me. I don't care if you like it, but I think it's shit) for a long time now. There just doesn't seem to be any sizable audience for what these ladies do. At least not without some seriously grinding touring. And I do wonder if they would be prepared to do that.
