The drummer Tamu Murata was one of the most sought out session musician in Tokyo before joining Nemophila. Tamu claims Mike Portnoy, Charlie Benante, and Dave Lombardo as metal influences and also talk about Nao Kawakita from Maximum The Hormone as the reason she picked up the sticks (she was blown away to find out the drummer of MTH was a girl and that inspired her to try drums). She has played in sessions ranging from pop, jazz, prog, punk, metal and already had a big RU-vid following on her personal channel where she has drum cam videos of her playing in different projects and performing drum play throughs. Tamu also taught at a music college, hosted he own drumming based program and traveled Asia doing drumming clinics for Tama drums, her sponsor. Tamu also plays classical piano, bass, guitar and saxophone. The woman is a musical beast. You should check out "Raitei", "Adabana" and Nemophila's covers of Limp Bizkit's "Stuck" and Slipknot's "sic" for some more serious drumming.
Good song by Nemophila! Not their best but solid. Hazuki is the guitarist 🎸 you were referencing. She is also in 2 other bands in addition to Nemophila; Lisa-X Band and Disqualia! The other guitarist 🎸 is Saki, formerly with Mary's Blood and Destrose. And yes it is the same singer. Mayu was 8 months pregnant when they recorded this and had just got done performing at Aftershock so it may have impacted her vocal performance. Tamu is the drummer and is one of the most sought after session drummers in the world. And of course we cannot forget Haraguchi San on bass!!!
Theres a lot of pressure to give an opinion on just one listen. I was similar to you but then it grew on me like most music tends to do. Glad you have been enjoying the new Japanese sounds. Its a breath of fresh air for all music lovers.
Good that you understand that. Most people don't get it. It's why I compare a lot of music to other songs and bands I've heard. It's easier to relate it. I know several reactors that aren't being honest and have heard the music before. It's easy to pick up. I won't do that. It's a reaction for a reason. 👍
There is (oddly) a Marty Friedman connection: you can find an interview conducted in Japanese by him with the singer and one of the guitarists on his show in Japan - he speaks super-fluent Japanese (which I didn't know before seeing the clip) and as a Japanese linguist myself, I was just so astonished that Marty was having a high-level discussion (with really technical vocabulary - and even making jokes on top of it no less) in Japanese with the singer (Mayu) about English-language learning, pronunciation, and vocal technique, and then with the guitarist (Saki) about the effect on the "fret" fingers of long-term practice and years of playing. Fascinating stuff. Glad your reactions are honest and not sort of pre-scripted, so many others' are. Cheers
Marty has been living in Tokyo, Japan for over 20 years so its no surprise he has been fluent in Japanese for quite sometime. He moved to Japan with his wife because he got bored with the western music industry and felt Japan had far better dynamics toward his interests. Marty was also a guest teacher at the Musicians Institute Japan to a 18-19 year old student Takayoshi Ohmura, one of the Kami band lead guitarists for Babymetal. Marty and Babymetal have worked together in their earlier years and Takayoshi Ohmura has toured in Marty's band in the past.
Yup. She was carrying a tiny little boy under those baggy cloths. And she said after Aftershock, that it was difficult to project with her diaphragm during the pregnancy.
2nd soloist: Hazuki - Ibanez endorsed...I want that J.Custom RG8527 of hers! 1st soloist is Saki - plays her signature model Killer guitar, "The Empress". She's quite well known in Japan even prior to Nemophila. The Killer guitar brand was started by Akira Takasaki of Loudness (remember them?). Killer guitars are built and distributed by ESP. I like the song, but not my favorite of theirs. My favorite is still "Adabana".
No doubt there is influence there. Marty is huge in Japan currently. He did an appearance on a Japanese guitar show with Saki and Mayu (singer), but Hazuki wasn't present. This is one of my favorite Nemophila songs. May be my favorite overall. Appreciate your honest reactions. Music is subjective so of course we all don't like the same stuff. I'm not a fan of many of the artists you regularly talk highly of. To each their own. Different music connects with us all in different ways.

Nemophila is a very diverse band, they do various genres of rock/metal, Mayu is also a singer with a variety of voices, you can’t define Nemophila as any style, they just released a new album, this album has a wide range, if you are interested, I suggest you listen to it

I like Nemophila and agree that they have much better songs than this. Their solos were just a bit too much all over the place for me though. I prefer a solo with more melodic structure, like what Lovebites does.
Yea, the way Nemophila is going doesn't sit right with me either. Moving away from both Mayu's harsh vocals and basically away from a lot of metal elements too. Their recent songs are all extremely poppy, especially in the chorus and general song layout. And well, lets be honest, without the harsh vocals it becomes obvious that she is a pretty mediocre singer. Overall the band has taken a wrong turn at some point imo. "Old" Nemophila >>> New Nemophila. Old in " " because it was just a couple years ago lol.
Lol just check out 《zen》from their new album dude Annd about the "poppy" you said, all I can say is that they have always been like this, they don't belong to any one style, because their music has a huge range, from soft to aggressive.
@@AngelLWJ I said overall. So you pointing to a single song in an effort to disprove me only shows that your reading comprehension sucks. I also said absolutely nothing about them staying inside some specific style. I just said that their songs are more poppy than they were in the past. And the only way anybody could disagree with that statement is if they are delusional and for some reason think they have to defend the band from all criticism.
