Bummer Michaels clutch cable broke. Hopefully that's all fixed now. Great views of riding the Blueridge parkway and Tail of the dragon. Nice camera work. Cool waterfall at Sliding / Slippery Rock.
Hi Meg and Mike! Here from the Eastern Shore of MD 😊 Love your tours and videos! You guys should do a map or book with all the awesome roads you have rode. You guys sure have seen them all! My husband and I plan to do some more riding. Y’all stay safe! 🥳
Yeah, what happened in Asheville was nuts. I rode through there back in June coming back from riding the Cherahola. I saw the pictures of places I rode that are torn to shreds. Sad to see. Too bad Mike's cable clutch broke. Both my bikes are hydraulic clutches and I like it that way. The only thing I have to do to it is change the DOT4 brake fluid it uses once a season. It's a simple bleed and refill the system with new fluid. No cable to break.
@@megsmotorcyclejourney Yep, it takes about 5 minutes to bleed the system if you have a small air compressor and a cheap Harbor Freight pneumatic brake bleeder. A once a year job.
For what it's worth I think this is the best vlog you've had in a long time. The camera work was really cool, seems there was more content and visuals. Too bad about Micheal's breakdown. My prayers and thoughts are with all people hit by the divistation of the recent storms. Stay Well Stay Safe and Keep Two Wheels Down
Didn’t Mike have a flat tire on the blue ridge parkway a few years ago? And wow, the tree has a lot more bike parts on it than it did when I was there, probably 12 or 14 years ago!
Just some food for thought. The video is really great. It would be even better if Meg and Mike had bluetooth microphones on during these tours. It would help a lot with the audio and being able to hear what everyone is saying.
Thursday Morning Oct-17th Everything was snow White this morning with Frost near Kalamazoo MI. You can ride your Harley with a Brocken clutch Cable. Point it downhill in first gear .. hit the starter and away you go. If you have to stop hit the kill switch .. Otherwise keep it rolling until you get it to the shop ect. You don't need a Tow Truck. My Clutch cable broke on my Yamaha 3 years after I nicked the Cable with an angle grinder while grinding clearance between my Bark Buster handguards and my 2" Risers.
@@megsmotorcyclejourney It's been a few years since any Lady told me that I look like Richard Gere. I took it as a compliment, and am ageing at about the same rate as Gere has. Considering How many Harley's you all are riding, It may have been worth it to bring me on a Trip as a mechanic. I carry a pretty good set of tools on my bike which I have helped Harley owners tighten bolts that vibrated loose on a few Occasions including on the Adam Sandoval Convoy. I also Normally carry a First Aid Kit and two Tourniquets in my luggage. I hate to say it, but I did not have my first aid kit with me the day I hot the deer and took a 50 MPH slide down the road. I had road rash on my forearm. I was going to visit a girl friend though I was 40 miles from my house I was near her house. Went to her house and put whisky on the wound. I missed my first Track Day because my Clutch cable broke. I rode 40 miles to the Doctors on the last day to take my DOT Physical before they would have suspended my Commercial Drivers License. Riding at a rapid speed I made it to the Doctors in good time, but on the way home the cable started acting funkier. I adjusted the linkage a couple of times and made it home. I worked all night installing a new rear tire.. new chain and sprockets.. then thought I could solder the cable some how and make the track day. So I went for a test ride with new rear tire and chain and sprockets 1/4 mile down the road turned on a side street made a U-turn and the cable broke almost completly .. no traffic at 6:00 AM did not have to stop for the stop sign. Rode my bike 1/4 mile back to my shop and hit the kill switch and brakes in front of my shop door. I knew I was not going to make Track Day so I went to bed at 6:00 AM. A new Yamaha Clutch Cable was $22.00 .. Motion Pro sells them for $18.00, but I ordered a second one from Motion Pro that is 2" longer for $32.00 I need the longer cable because I have 2" bar risers for my short arms angled back. Let me know if you HD Cable costs more than $19.00. There used to be "Action Cycle and Instrument" Near me. They sold motorcycle parts and accessories did machine work like boring jobs and Could make any Clutch , Brake or speedometer cable you could imagine. They also made up speedometer gear ratio adaptors .. I had a number of them made for my Lime spreader friction wheel cable drive for my lime spreaders.. before I went all Electronic with GPS speed. No more messing with friction wheels or cables.
