Has there been any galvanic corrosion around the heatsink where the copper and aluminum meet? Was a large copper heatsink not financially feasible or available, or could you have made the cpu heatsink out of aluminum too? I love the look of this build, I just hate that copper and aluminum seem to be mortal enemies bound to fight it out and the cpu and temps being collateral damage.

Absolute nice, really good work... but how do use the USB, HDMI, and the other connectors? The gap on the bottom is to short for a normal USB dongle or a HDMI cable.

Ok Question people. Is Copper thermal paste then Aluminum enough of a conductor for heat??? What if your using it a bit heavy than normal functions? Cause in my mind there's only Wind or liquid for Heat. Or because the size and shape of your Aluminum can take out heat kinda like a portable heater machine concept?? Anywayz, gd work!

Awesome DIY Project! I've always thought of buying a normal CPU HSF before, but your method is very eye opening to me. My only concern is to be honest I'm very unskilled in the way of electronic boards, therefore I don't know how to find out which place of the board is fine to make hole with. Could you please tell me how did you install the backplate on this video or maybe just link me to some tutorial about this so I could learn more about it? Once again I thank you for your spectacular project which awe and inspire me!

did you test the spreading of the thermal paste, looks like it could be not enough between the copper cold plate and the aluminium Heatsink
@fanlessguy1395
@fanlessguy1395 6 лет назад
between the CPU and the heatspreader is only one point of the paste and the area is about 1 cm2, then there is a 5 mm heatspreader (about 60 cm2) and between the heatsink I gave 28 paste points, I believe the heat transfer will be enough and more pastes would not have a positive effect for heat transfer.
