Hi Everyone! Just a quick video to show you how I repaired the handle on my Samsung Microwave oven. Link to the epoxy I used amzn.to/2t6ODfh More video's coming soon, stay tuned! Hope this helps! Thanks Joe
I had to replace my handle on mine yesterday and I wanted to thank you for this video. I couldn’t figure out how to get to the bottom screw but you showed how. Thank you so much for making this and helping people out!
So helpful! Handles cost $95 now with no screws included. No assembly parts (screws or plastic parts) available to buy either. So, this has been a tremendous help! Thanks!!
Great idea Joe! I was balking at the the idea of buying a new handle for $30 to $70 ! outrageous I tell you. I used JB weld Steel stick from my local walMart. This was $4.50 a few dollars cheaper that amazon, and I could have it right now. only thing is if you use, it it has a lightning fast set up time like 2 minutes max. mix as needed and be generous. Also make sure putty is flush with the mating edges of handle. All in all great solution worked perfectly
Thank you! I purchased similar items but then did a dry fit and found the sheet metal screws were all I needed to tighten the handle into place. They were long enough to reach the remaining plastic brackets. Everything is tight and good-to-go. Thank you for the info!!!
Thanks for the video, saved some cash using your diy fix. Same exact issue. The most challenging part was removing the plastic face without cracking it. It's very brittle and mine did end up with a little crack but stayed intact. I'd recommend taking your time on that part. Go really slow and be gentle.
Thanks for your video, it enabled me to fix our Samsung microwave. I ordered the small pieces that attach the handle to the actual door from eBay and just added a screw to each and worked great! ( the trim covered the screws). Thank you! Without your video I couldn’t even remove the handle to work on it!
Thank you, Joe. I was ready to replace my micro wave until I saw your video. I have reattached my handle and it's working like a champ. You're my hero for the day!!
The internal fan on my samsung microwave went bad so I went online to get a new one. However, the fan motor alone was seventy dollars and I wasn't 100% sure if thats all that was wrong so I ended up buying a new microwave for $200... Since it was also a samsung the installation was a breeze. the rear brace was the same and holes in the cabinet above lined up. The bad part was, I realized the handle was a cheap plastic one so I was going to take the stainless one off my old microwave and put it on this one. Therefore checked out your video and found how to take the plastic trim off. In the end, the locating pins on the handles were 3/8" different so I had to keep the plastic handle... Thanks for the video tho... It helped alot to not break the trim on our new one......
Very useful hint on removing the shield with a butter knife. once this was done I just used a newer, leaner & longer screw to bring together the broken upper base (Black) adapter of handle
fuck yeah. Thanks. I was about to spend $100 bucks on a new handle. Also the door cost $250 bucks lol. Cheap appliances break so easily. Thank you good sir!
I wish I had seen this sooner. I just ordered a replacement handle and wanted to know how to get the screws out. Thankfully the handle was only $10 on Amazon
I just needed to know how to get the backing off without breaking it. I paid $12 for a new handle. It’s a little lighter than the original, so I’m guessing I’ll replace it in a year. Now I know how!
I've checked online several places all say handle no longer manufactured, neither is the door. So this might be my only option over buying new microwave
I am going to keep this in mind if what I ordered doesn't work but I looked on Amazon where they sell the handle for about $25. I found and bought it even cheaper on ebay for $15 and change with free shipping before taxes from a reputable seller. If you don't hear from me it worked out but I'll return if it doesn't.
Once you’ve mixed and placed the epoxy and are waiting the five minutes for it to harden - do you hold it on the door while waiting or do you just leave it off the door while waiting for it to harden? Does it matter? Thanks!
Hi Martha, you can leave it off the door, just wait about 3 min then put in your screws. If you wait to long the putty gets hard and it’s hard to get the screws in. Hope that helps! Thanks Joe
The top end of the handle broke. The piece into which the screw is inserted, shattered as it has three previous times. The bottom part remains intact. So, I use your method with the top part only. I did exactly as you instructed, using the exact epoxy putty you recommended. It worked like a charm. However, I have a question. If the bottom part of the handle breaks (as it inevitably will do some day), will I be able to remove the handle to repair the bottom? Will I be able to unscrew the top part of the handle or is the screw which I screwed into the putty noneremovable? Could you advise? Thanks, Don Zimmer
Hi Don, it may be difficult to get out once the putty has hardened, I would use one of those electric impact screw drivers to remove it, with the hammering action it should come out. Glad to hear the top worked well for you. Even if the bottom does break, you might be able to swing the handle over to one side and get access to put the putty in without taking out the top screw. Hope that helps! Thanks Joe
I repaired a Model ME16H702SES/AC handle after learning a replacement handle was required and it cost $120 + tax. I spent $8.99 + tax using two brushed aluminum knobs. Looks great and works perfectly!
Watched your video and it helped because i did not wont to pry the inner frame to hard so that was helpful! but , just buy a new handle and use the old screws! cheaper than the epoxy and srews, 14 bucks, and its a a new handle. thanks
Hey! I'm having an issue with getting the screws out of the microwave, parts of the old handle are still stuck on them causing the screws to become stuck inside the microwave. Any thoughts on to fix this?
Hi, did you have to take the plastic bit out of the handle, where the existing screw holes are, to put the putty in? Or just stuff the putty in around the plastic bits? thanks!
Hi Susan I took out the broken plastics but you can probably do it both ways. As long as the extra parts don’t get in the way of the new screw threading in.
Can anyone help identify the model number of the microwave shown? I'm pretty sure I have the same one, and the handle just broke off. Unfortunately, the previous homeowner removed the identifying stickers, so I can't look up the microwave model to get the right replacement parts. Thanks in advance for any help!
Handle came off, and I can clearly see the problem is that both mounting nuts broke. I've spent way too much time trying to find online instructions for simply disassembling the handle, replacing the mounting nuts, reassembling the handle and reattaching the door back. Afraid I'll break the handle if I don't get it apart correctly. All I need is to replace the mounting nuts.
Tricia Cotton Dean hi Tricia, I’ll be honest it took me a little research to figure out how to do this fix. Just don’t get frustrated take your time and you’ll figure it out. I always say someone figured out how to put this together and I’m pretty sure I can figure out how to take it apart lol. If you want to send me some pictures I’ll see if I can help you. Email pics me at joesnowmobiles@gmail.com if you’d like. Thanks Joe
I think at the time I made this video there was not a handle available if there is a handle available now that’s great news I believe all the ones that I checked out did not fit my microwave which is why I had to repair it myself.
Easy to pop off?? I don't think you know what easy is. There are plastic locking pieces in the middle of each side. Took me 30 minutes of fiddling and ended up breaking on in order to kind of see into the bottom screw.
