Justin is a fucking amazing drummer. His work on 'Cause = Time' is incredible. Andrew, Kevin, and Brendan are also amazing. What a group of incredible musicians.
I forgot how long these sets were. We (the audience) would be getting tired and Kevin sensing this would say “you paid good money to come see us, we’ll give you lots of music”. One of the great bands of our time.
Why did this band not get big? I don't understand. They not only have fucking excellent music but they had the overwhelmingly positive from critics AND their music has been used in popular movies like Scott Pilgrim. what the fuck?
1:59:12 audially and visually astounding. It's not the stage lights, but how they perform their song with such passion and joy... jumping about and throwing smiles to everyone... If only i were on the actual show. :(
My first concert of BSS was in late 2005 and I can swear you that I forgot my name and where I was for sometime... One of the best show ever. Btw Justin Peroff is a drummer genius!!!
+xseq xqwe I believe you, I "am" also a drummer, well I was and had several bands. Justin is one of the best drummer I have even seen! He's mesmerizing, talented and can make you forget about where you are, it's about feelings of course, feelings make it all! Go Justin!!!
Ariel and Feist are like when Joey Castillo had to play Dave Grohls parts on "songs for the deaf" when on queens of the stone age; colossal drummer, an absolute beast but he had to cover god and was always one tiny millimeter behind. Same happens here, Feist is just a force of nature whereas Ariel needs to work hard for it. Again it really doesn't mean shit as Ariel is stupidly good; seen her with BSS live in Glasgow and I left the venue with the feeling of having seen the best live ever. That only happened to me when I saw Daft Punk in Madrid back in 2007
I've seen BSS live 16 times dating back to 2003 (I live in Toronto hence so many shows) and I think Ariel is really great at HER songs that she has done lead vocals on in the more recent years (like Stay Happy). But she isn't as good on the Emily/Feist/Lisa songs. In reality the most versatile of all their female vocalists is Amy Milan. She can kind of sing all the songs that have female vocals really well. I LOVE Emily and Feist but they have really distinctive vocal styles at time that can be hard to replicate but Amy can handle them fine.
@@jacquesmesrine8031 Daft Punk in 2007, right before the world economy pretty much collapsed and there was still some genuine hope left in the air. Must have been an incredible show. In Madrid of all places wow.
I've been watching this nightly before bed for years now. Usually Art House Director, Meet Me In The Basement, Anthems, Almost Crimes and Major Label Debut. I'm an emotional mess every time I watch.
Kinda strange the two best bands in the world are both from Canada. Arcade Fire and BSC. Maybe the world will finally forgive us for Justin Bieber and Celine Dion.
A few of my favorite bands come from Canada: BSC, Arcade Fire, Rush, Thee Silver Mt. Zion, and Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Like, yeah, they have some shit, but there's some brilliant Canadian bands that make Canada awesome.
They actually played Stars And Sons and "Ooo Baby Baby" (Smokey Robinson cover) with Here We Go Magic for an encore after the camera's were shut off. Would have been great to see that and Lisa doing Swimmers.
It was originally a duet with his lover at the time, Feist. I think they both wrote the song. I'm also fairly certain they're no longer 'together', so it's just awkward for Kevin now, I guess (understandably).
Nice to see this now. I tired so hard to get into this band when they first came out, but I just didn't get it. Listening to it now, I really enjoy it. Better late than never, I guess.
Wow, this evoked some strong memories. I remember setting an alarm for this for the live broadcast. Saw BSS in Victoria the previous October, would see them one more time in Salmon Arm at the Roots & Blues Festival in the summer. I sometimes think I saw them three times that tour, always kinda forgetting this was a webcast. Anyway, awesome to see this again. Concert was and still is amazing.
as this was uploaded about 10 years ago im not sure how likely this is. Is there any version that exists with higher quality video and audio. Main obstacle to enjoying this fully is that when I analysed it I found a huge chunk of high frequency is missing in the audio
This is an amazing concert by these guys. My favourite band to this day. There used to be a showt by BSS on YT. Live, at a kind of homecoming thing in the daytime/early evening (Could have been the Harbour Front). I was thinking it might have been the 'This Movie Is Broken' film but from what I've seen on YT, that takes place at night. It was quite a few years ago that I saw it and my memory is a bit sketchy. Would love to see that concert again if anyone has it.
I love how they play the same song over and over but people don’t care…. Just the lyrics change but it’s ok. I miss her singing with the band now a days. Where did she go? Anyways. Years ago which is when I want to be before the world destructed, slowly….
not to complain, but no stars and sons? Otherwise a flawless set. Incredible band.I hope they don't stop recording and playing. The last studio effort was 5 years ago
Good call! They actually did play Stars And Sons, and a Smokey Robinson cover (Ooo Baby Baby) for the crowd as an encore after the cameras stopped rolling. Would have loved to see that!
Like… is this one of the best drummers ever? I know he’s driven me through my life. And how …. I reached the point when im driving I don’t touch my brake until he does on his bass drum and I count another tesla out side the hollywood bowl. I call it Tesla way. On average 32 per day. Ohana fest tickets sold out. Sad.
Unfortunately no I don't. A long time ago now someone reached out to me who had it in 1080p and asked me if I wanted it. I said yes, with the intention of uploading it on here. In the same message he told me he wasn't sure how to send such a file over to me so I gave him a quick & easy how-to, but oddly, I never heard back from him. Sounds like either he couldn't be bothered to upload it or may have even expected $$$. Either way it's out there, it just hasn't surfaced...yet.
I had a 1080p rip from the time, but somehow through PC rebuilds and streaming media migrations I have lost the file :( There’ll be one out there, I’m sure.
Even if there was music aides, you can't deny that Justin is divine at what he does. GOD JUST TOUR PLZZZ BSS!!!! I'd drive 5 states across I don't care :( !! Just go somewhere in Eastern US.
@@robsII lol yeah I still regret not getting the HD version when it was up. D'oh! The quickest/easiest way would be to upload it to Mediafire. I use it whenever anyone requests anything that I have. www.mediafire.com. It doesn't require an account registration and it's free to use. It's very simple if you have never used it--just upload the mp4 and when it's finished, a download link will be provided that you can share with others. No pressure, but it would be very much appreciated!
