I'm not sure what your background is, but you give a very clear, knowledgeable explanation about a complex plumbing issue. It's like I'm listening to another plumber explain this. This is the perfect way to explain these components and issues to the general public
He's the "Bob Ross" of plumbing coaches. "U can do this, I'm confident that you can. " Very relatable with admitting a flange didn't work out for a certain toilet. Thanks for being so honest about previous trial and error. Even showing that screw sizes can be deceiving. Absolutely loved the new vocabulary "overneath"... He ain't wrong, the piece goes over the broken one and is still under the toilet... A true coach for the DIY'er. I wouldn't be surprised if he is also a little league coach 😉👍

Very helpful.thank you. Even though I will have the plumber install the toilet, it's really helpful to watch these videos to know what to look for before the plumber gets there. It didn't occur to me to take that wax ring off and inspect the flange.
Also, for cast iron flange repairs, Sioux Chief makes a great repair flange that has a rubber gasket at the bottom on the outside, and 3 Allen screws on the inside. Once you get the flange screwed down to the floor, you tighten those Allen screws and it expands that rubber gasket outward towards the edge of the pipe. Very handy
Dude, I maybe have 2-1/2 " to tie into old basement toilet drain?(3-1/2") hole before it hooks off down and to the right.is that enough to tie into. It's not a straight drop it's like an elbow piece that the old closest flange is attached to. I know I'm horrible at descriptions but was wondering if what you're showing is something I use to install new toilet. Old closet flange is about an inch below the current tile floor. The easiest way to take care of this is with a screw- machine bolt. You can thread the bolt into the floor on ne end and have machine threads on the other to hold toilet down. As long as floor is not rotted.
The screw fitting mount is the best for this straight pipe. Just cut out the broken flange and put in the screw mount in the pipe. Fast and simple without leak.
