This song, and this version of it, empties every emotional volume I possess, and replaces it with only the expression and feeling felt in this song. It somehow manages to transcend everything in your life and you become the person in the song. There aren't too many songs that do this to me, but Josh Groban plays many of them. He is most certainly my all time favorite musician.
You are so right! I was privileged to see the two of them perform together in Atlanta in 2004, when Chris was just getting started. They didn't do this song then. But it is my most favorite ever! I wish Josh would go back to these types of songs, but he is an artist exploring other genres. Still love him and going to see him in August in Atlanta again!
Tell me her name I want to know The way she looks And where you go I need to see her face I need to understand Why you and I came to an end Tell me again I want to hear Who broke my faith in all these years Who lays with you at night When I'm here all alone Remembering when I was your own I'll let you go I'll let you fly Why do I keep on asking why I'll let you go Now that I found A way to keep somehow More than a broken vow Tell me the words I never said Show me the tears you never shed Give me the touch That one you promised to be mine Or has it vanished for all time I'll let you go I'll let you fly Why do I keep on asking why I'll let you go Now that I found A way to keep somehow More than a broken vow I close my eyes And dream of you and I And then I realize There's more to life than only bitterness and lies I close my eyes I'd give away my soul To hold you once again And never let this promise end I'll let you go I'll let you fly Why do I keep on asking why I'll let you go Now that I found A way to keep somehow More than a broken vow
AdrianSmith2007, yes, you nailed it. It's completely inappropriate. A really talented artist would know that and back off, just setting the thing down and letting the song and the singer hold their own. But, then again, I'm not playing to a full house. And it's been said that I don't have a full deck.
