Day 2 of my North Carolina Adventure! After I spent the day at the RTR LAB Vaughn Gittin Jr was gracious enough to invite me out to his backyard and stomping grounds where he ran us through the Uwharrie OHV Area and spotted me though some of the toughest trails there! We Broke tie rods on a new Ford Bronco, took a dip in a lake with a bunch of dudes, and nearly rolled my Bronco! This was definitely a fun adventure!

Vaughn Gittin Jr you are the first to give the most accurate description of what happens with the tie rods. With all your race experiance you have the best knowledge. Thank you for the best description of what happens. This is why I bought the Sasquatch package plus it gives you the correct gearing for 35 tires. I watched lots of RU-vid videos for a year and 10 months before I got my Bronco. I learned a lot from them. When you go bigger tires more stuff wears out. As time goes on other issues will appear.

@orsLLC
@orsLLC 29 дней назад
@@allanlarge7213 why would you say BB Braces is junk? They have been tested over and over again and proven to be a great not only to prevent tie rod breakage but also as a recovery tool if not running a brace and you break a tie rod. Literally thousands of pounds of pulling force have been applied to the braces and use done in extreme rock crawling conditions and proven that they hold up to the challenge.
@allanlarge7213
@allanlarge7213 29 дней назад
@orsLLC Because #1 they are overpriced. #2 the design was stolen from Joe Darlington from Darlington off road. he built them clear back in 1999. #3 They are ugly!!! #4 Rough Country builds a set of REAL forged 4140 tie rods for half the price greasable in both ends. #5 if Bronco Busters junk is so great why don't you see people like Vaughn Gitten Jr using them? Why do you think Ford performance doesn't offer them? they are indeed a BAND-AID, and people who bought them should have known better.

Honestly I’m not 100% but if you took a Sasquatch Bronco ran the Adv fenders plus a fox coilover set 1.25” over a stock Sasquatch ride height combined w/ Raptor/ Hoss3.0 steering rack-tie rod combo I bet it would work flawlessly but that’s totally speculation

Broncos are sooooo capable right off the showroom floor. There is very little reason to lift and add bigger tires. Some of us Toyota guys do it, too. We go 35s when we don’t have to and some even 37s. BUT, we don’t break tie rods, and just eyeballing the ones on my brother’s Bronco and my own TOyota FJ Cruiser, they look the same. I’ve seen some snapped CVs, but not many. One thing I have not seen anyone bring up is this: It may not be only the design or the diameter of the tie rods on the Bronco as it may be the QUALITY OF THE STEEL Ford uses.

As long as your vehicle is stock, that should not be a problem. However, from an engineering standpoint, the tie rods are designed to fail to preserve the steering rack. You know, when you buy a vehicle, these manufacturers have spent years putting them through the paces. It's expected for them to perform to a certain level in a certain environment. When you take an off-road vehicle to a very unusual place to off road. Just because it's made for off road, does not mean it's made for THAT off road. To many factors involved. While I applaud the capability and the ability of the driver, and that is a factor, big time. This is not the place that a standard or even a fully loaded factory bronco should go. This is strictly for heavily modified vehicles. I'm surprised the bronco made it without breaking more tie rods. A lot of geometry involved in the way those ties function under heavy loads and angles. Especially if that load involves the weight of a 40-inch tire versus a 35 with stock tie rods. The tie rods are made for a 35-inch tire. Do not expect it to perform better with a 40-inch tire mounted to it or even a 37.

This one I have now has 38k on it now it’s been twice as many places and trials, pulled 3100lb trailer that’s literally 2x the size of the bronco running in wide open basically from south TEXAS to California and back, and now I’ve been pulling another 2700 lb “overland” trailer in 4lo locked 🔒 frt/rear on 4 Rocky ass trails without any issues either. I call bs. Look all the other vehicles running larger tires on stock tie rods. Ford Bronco tie rods are garbage!

Stop with the rap/hip hop soundtrack, bruh. Everyone thinks only Bro’s drive these things as it is. Don’t need this crap adding to the negative stereotype.

I make videos and the feel of them based off the vibe of what I was doing and how I remember that day specifically for me. Coincidentally this day it was a “bunch of bros” beating on broncos… Sorry it wasn’t what you like. 🤷‍♂️

@@ChaseGentry fair ‘nuff. I went back and watched with the sound down. It looked like you guys had a good time. Did you get the broken tie rod replaced on the trail or after? And do you run heavier tires rods after this failure?

@@boobacockaa thanks for watching. Yes they replaced the driver side tie rod with another stock replacement. Took about 25 minutes to do so. I currently still have the original tie rods on my bronco. Now with 48,290 on the clock and wheeled nationwide without failure. My bronco is stock Sasquatch still on 35s.
