The Brazilian Super Tucano IRL is actually good at taking down slow flying aircrafts, like drug smuggling Pipers and Cessnas. They do a really good job.
Interesting fact CAP, the Tucano for the RAF was built in the UK, Shorts Brothers in Northern Ireland built them. Up until a couple of years ago we still had the full scale fatigue test airframe mounted in the test rig. The test airframe had to be kept 'ahead' of the flying aircraft in 'flying hours' to identify any problems before they were experienced in flight. Another production airframe in use was instrumented and used to validate the results from the fatigue rig! What about a rematch with RAF Shorts Tucano and OV10 vs the south americans?
It is very ignorant to compare the A27/tucano with the A29, they are different aircraft, different powers, different sizes, structural technology and onboard electronics are totally different...#US #NY
It was not shown in the video but the A29 super tucano can use more than just 12.7mm cannons but short-range air-to-air missiles, which can be aimed at by the HMD Helmet Mounted Display presentation system installed on the helmet here in Brazil we use the missiles American AIM-9 Sidewinder on our toucans
Mosquito. Fastest plane here, manoeuvrable, best armed. Actually designed with dogfighting in mind, sort of. Possibly made in Canada. Don't dogfight against the new planes. Climb, dive, slash, repeat. Broad sweeping moves to maintain speed. Best above 25 000 feet, better at that altitude than anything here. Keep the fight high. Then it's like using a gun in a knife fight. Taking candy from a baby, by breaking said child's fingers, which sounds more fun than it is.
@@No1sonuk I didn't know that, but don't see the difference. The fighter bomber version was a very capable fighter. Without bombs, rockets or external tanks it's still a DH-98. Use its strengths. No fighters have a pressurized cockpit, do they? That's what the oxygen mask is for.
Really enjoyed that. I love the long range bombing/intercept missions, but close quarters dogfighting with a bunch of planes not designed for it was fun to watch.
Amazing work, lads. The A29 seems deadly - I bet it would have been something to reckon with during WWII. I'd love to see the Tucano go up against every World War 2 fighter you could muster in DCS or IL2, assuming there's a Tucano mod for that sim.

To be honest . Most unofficial mods do not act really realisticly.. the mossy should, even being the grand lady, have no issues.. the official planes behave more like they would , but they not perfect either.. like one 7.62 hit setting the engine on fire.. not what we know how it was in ww2
I'd love to see some light fighter bomber dog fights. It's extremely underrated but the P61 black widow would be great especially up against or alongside the Mosquito seeing as the were at one point being considered for the same job. Oddly The black widow won that contest but Britain had their own reasons for their choice and the Mosquito is great.

does the bronco have dive brakes or maneuver flaps ? or even deploy landing flaps as a way to increase turn rate ? If so it would be hard to beat in a turn fight.
The obvious Winner in this video is the Mosquito....... as it's the only plane that had a full flight model and is just simply AWESOME👌 Wish ED would fix the Mosquito's stupid left roll and very bouncy pitch though.....
This kinda reminds me of a "Final Countdown" sorta scenario, where modern a/c show up in WW 2 or vice versa. It would be interesting to see which were ACTUALLY the most useful in another situation. It'd be tempting to say something like an F-16 would be the best to suddenly give to the Allies in WW 2 in a sci fi scenario, but... maybe something like the Tucano or OV-10 would be as effective (or maybe A-10) given that they would handle the grass fields and simple weapons much better. Fighting an FW-190 for example in the Battle of Britain, I don't know that an F-16 would that useful long term given it's limited ammo by comparison, and the tendency to have huge turning circles and be "too fast" for intercepts on much slower aircraft. In a campaign setting, once you run out of anything you were carrying in the "transition", I think an F-16 or F-18 could be at a severe disadvantage (not to mention the maintenance would be impossible while an OV-10 uses off the shelf private a/c parts which you could fabricate in 1940s Britain) and the OV-10 only uses "dumb" rockets and bombs so there's no loss of capability. Then again, it'd be a bit slow compared to say a P-38 or A-26 of the period. Just musing out loud.
I love how the guy in the mosquito kept calling out enemies on the six after the pilot has already seen like 100 rounds pass over the canopy, like no shit Mr RP how about calling bogies on the tail before they start shooting at the plane.
I think it was Simba that said "bogey", Cap corrected and said "Bandit". I looked up the difference because I thought they were the same. But they're not. Bandit - identified enemy aircraft, known. Bogey - unidentified (possibly unfriendly, highly likely unfriendly) and Contact is just an aircraft detected and it totally unknown. Could be a enemy fighter, a friendly cargo plane or a civilian airliner. Now we all know. Cap was right. As usual.
I think you could have another video type. Take 4 different aircraft from 4 different countries, be from the same era and aircraft equivalent to each other. I would love to watch you all dog fight. Oh, how about all 4 against each other? No holds barred.
8:15 The bronco seems like its... idk not ready for release yet? It seemingly doesn't have a working damage model at all, and can take multiple gun passes as seen in other videos and even a head on collision here without going down or even really being disrupted
It's brand new, early release and a community module. The creator admits it's not complete yet. However, the damage module does seem better than some other "released" aircraft out there. Sometimes it's the game itself (lag, etc) that can make for some unusual situations (ie you think you hit, but to the server you're shooting off to the side... just like when on one team's screen the Pucara in match 6 was destroyed. On the other it was still flying.)
These were great! I don't know why you were always so low, though. Especially with the faster planes, go for altitude, get some speed up, then go after the slower ones! Also, sometimes it's best to just clear the area, then circle around and try again. You got into a couple of "death spirals" there. I had to chuckle a few times about the city below being strafed so badly, too!
Has there ever been any thought of making a version of the Cessna A-37B? The Super Tweet! (Officially the Dragonfly). It’s a super cool plane, twin jet powered but really small. And made by Cessna! Anyway, another great video!
@@simba1113 With all the Vietnam assets coming out hopefully it won't be long. I know an old A-37 (among many other things) pilot who raved about how stable and accurate of a strafing platform it was.
The Shorts Tucano is a single engined fighter based aircraft - even though it is marketed as a ground attack aircraft primarily. It is not an equal test with the three other twins.

1:11 Super tucano has 1600 horsepower, not 1000. The flight model needs work but the developer focused on getting the armament systems like flir working before finishing the FM. I have done multiple tests and got something that is closer to the real thing. I will send you on discord a version that works better for these dogfights if you don't mind. Hey Cap, could you talk anyone into making a Bristol Beaufighter, maybe? Also, I second the OV-1 Mohawk suggestion. And last, for now, the Cessna Bird Dog. You could make some nasty missions in CA .... find the enemy and direct the action from the air, etc. And, the Cessna T-37 could also be used as a standard jet trainer version, too. Keep up the good work. There's more to air combat then fast mover furballs. ps. you'll notice that the Bronco uses the same ammo that is available to the ground grunts, on purpose.
You mentioned lag due to rendering of the cityscape. Doesn't the game have an option for a featureless terrain? Eg just ground and sky. Seems like such would be a sensible option.
Can you do a mock attack on the Russian Black Sea Fleet by the Americans in Sevastapol Crimea? The US warned Russia that if nuked are used in Ukraine the will destroy Russian Black sea fleet. That would be interesting to see. If you done this already can you send me the link to that vid? Thanks
So you need to do a super duper free mods so far extravaganza. With links to all the mods in the description. From planes to ships to cows, whatever is out there. A new consolidation video with every cool free thing that exists. This doesn't exist now right now, or least not that's easily found. I fired up DCS for the first time in year and it crashed because of the update to DCS and mod conflicts. Would be nice to have a repository for mods somewhere, even nicer to have a installer that grabs them for you(never hurts to dream).
I used to do this, but problem is the mod links and versions change so much, the vid is out of date within a few days and useless, hence I no longer bother.
Mosquito shouldn't have been in a dogfight he should have kept his distance and used his speed and guns. If I remember right Bronco was built for supporting small units in the jungles of Vietnam.
turbo prop fighter vs jet fighter jet wins may not be able outturn them but can outclimb and outmaneuver them and can carry some pretty serious firepower and Cap did you know the A-10 warthog while not designed to dogfight can be a pretty mean dogfighter is it calls for it
a 7$ USD kabar leather sheath, fits perfectly, does take some tuning up, but Its super light, and it was the knife of the frontier, which later super heavy bowies were based on.

speed and altitude is everything in a dogfight, Im not seeing anyone managing their speed and trying to keep an altitude advantage, too wrapped up in trying to shoot at the enemy that you forget to actually fly the planes

I feel that it would be a very appropriate subject you you since during the battle, the aircraft used a wild assortment of just about every weapon available except for rocks and kamikasis. as beautiful as the OV-10 is, it is completely underpowered and under armed. What a disgrace the US military did by acquiring those. Even civilian passenger turboprops have more power..... Im thinking a dogfight between the Marchetti Super Tocano and some WWII warbirds, P-51, Bf-109 would be show worthy......
In it's defense the OV-10 was good at it's actual job. Not really fair to say it's a crummy fighter when it was never intended to do any dogfights. I think something like a Skyraider would have been better, but DCS doesn't have one.
