I’m from 689 East 233rd Street. My father is buried at Gates of Heaven in Westchester and my grandparents and McCue ancestors are at Woodlawn. I love you all. I’m proud to be a McCue. Rest easy

My family was a part of St Raymond's parish and I attended the parish school from 1940 to 48. A safer time with good memories even 70 years later.

This film depicts the area where my Grandparents settled and my father was born. My grandparents are buried in St. Raymond's Cemetary. It is astonishing.

I lived just a few blocks away from St. Raymond's cemetery.... Throgs Neck section of the Bronx... at one time mostly Irish & Italian.... now it's changed considerably....

@Charles J. Yes believe it or not Throgs Neck is still a nice area... Tremont Ave all the way to the end near the East River where you can sit by the Marina Del Rey Wedding & Banquet Hall by the water beautiful sights of the Whitestone & Throgs Neck Bridges.... look across the river into Flushing Queens... like I said back when I was growing up it was all Irish & Italians.... the Country Club section is still all Italian.... Still have quite a bit of Irish also around that area... go on Google punch up Marina Del Rey & it will show you pictures of the area where I'm talking about...

I'll definitely check out the website.....but this short intro. seems to disregard/ignore the other strong ethnic influences on Bronx church communities....most specifically German Catholics and later Italian Catholics in the FOUNDING of many of the Bronx's 100+ Catholic Church communities dating back to the early 19th Century. We'll see. As noted by James Moran below, "ramparts" does suggest a "siege" mentality.
