I find it hilarious that broody hens are mostly all bark and no bite. They’re not afraid or stressed out, as if they were, they would run away. They’re just super annoyed and make it known to everyone around them they are annoyed lol.
I like chicken and I have them at home but oh man I would not stick my hand in there not even if she had 100 bucks under her. Your chick is quite polite though
Hen: DoN’t ToUCh MmMMeeEEEeee!! Person: I’m just trying to GET YOUR EGGS SILLY HEN. Hen: YoU MoNSter YoU TOok AwAY My BABIES! Person: I AM GOING TO BOIL AND EAT THE EGGS. Hen: WHAAAAA?
@@voidshammer4134 nudging with their beak or tucking them under their wings. Broody hens steal eggs from nearby nests all the time this way. Which is why farmers looking to actually hatch fertile eggs tend to mark and check them daily to move them back to their original nests so they don't get staggered hatchings.
The eggs they take, and that they eat or sell, aren't fertile. Even if left under her, they'll eventually just go bad. Even when this is not the case. They'll often have to mark and move eggs because broody hens tend to steal eggs from any nest within reach. Which can cause issues with staggered hatching, because hens will abandon late hatchers.
