Gosh! Happy days. I remember putting my Mums mini into a 360 degree spin when I hit black ice on Brook Street roundabout late after midnight a very long time ago. No damage done, except to pride. Just slid gently from the inside to the outside lane coming to a gentle halt against the outside kerb. A quite slow, elegant, balletic sort of a move, with nobody else about to witness it.
Always slow down on approach to the roundabout, whatever the speed limit is. This gives you more time to check the traffic to your right. Usually second gear is best at around 15 to 20 mph. However some bigger roundabouts you can get away with third gear. Brook Street is more like a gyratory system than a normal roundabout, so third gear at around 20 mph as you go round is often possible. Hope this helps.
Horrible roundabout. Especially if you’re coming from Dartford area of the M25. 2 A12 E lanes turning into 1, that then becomes 2 again into 1 on the next slip road. Cars constantly cutting each other up with near misses.
