I can see why Michael Jackson and Brooke Shields were friends. Such traumatic childhoods..

Now thats an interview. Queen Latifah listened to what Brooke was saying and brought a compassion rarely seen in interviews. Loved it.

Her mother was greedy, selfish, sick, abusive. Brooke is too nice of a person to be filled with anger.

I think Brooke is too kind to her mother, and I dont like when they say 'oh your mother made a gob job with you' bc many times people just raise themselves, some children are just the opposite of their parents and they example... I'm better than my mother bc I didn't like her, I decided I wanted to be good at school bc she wasn't, etc.

Queen Latifah is such a humble, compassionate, beautiful person. The part where she held Brooke's hand as she was talking about one of the chapters made me tear up.

Unapologetic who was the fiercest mama who protected her? Is she talking about the same woman who allowed her 10 year old to be pictured nude in Playboy?? The same woman who pushed and allowed her 12 yr old daughter to do the movie Pretty Baby where she was filmed nude and played a child prostitute??

To me, she is the most beautiful woman in the world! I have never seen a prettier face♥

Latifah is an exceptionally gifted interviewer. I've never seen anyone conduct an interview with as much skill as her, not even Barbara Walters.

Latifahs interview skills really shine here she is so gentle with Brooke, so conscious of how heavy what they are speaking of is, really nice to see Brooke with someone who speaks her soul language

How refreshing to see a person that sees all the good in another person regardless of the alcoholism. Alcoholism does not make you a bad, weak, or selfish person contrary to popular belief. Thank you Brooke for seeing the truth.

Alcoholism is not fun. My uncle was one of them. I wish I could help him when I was younger. I didn't know what the alcoholic person was until I was about highschool. Being alcoholic is a disease that can be treated. All they need is just the support from the people surrounding him.

Brooke is still absolutely gorgeous and always will be but it must be said she has a wonderful personality and survived Hollywood, and that makes her even more beautiful

I hope Brook is getting some good therapy, she is a survivor of a tyrant who had her working since a baby, not even 1 year old, but 11 months old. Her mother exploited Brooke Shields all of her life. She needs some good healing from that very traumatic childhood and adolescence. This was child labour and it is a crime. Her mother and Hollywood should be in jail.

I met Teri 4 or 5 times back in the 90's. Brooke once or twice. I liked both of them.

They are both wonderful wonderful people!!! And I believe it was very hard for Brooke shields to talk about her mother, but she had all good things, it kind of reminds me of her mother, I was adopted, because my mother was an alcoholic , but she sure was loving, larger than life, always had a smile, and I don’t know because she gave me up , because she couldn’t take care of me that well, didn’t have money or anything really, but she sure had love, enough to care to give me up, she knew it would be best for me if I didn’t live that way! That’s a true mother’s love!!! Brooke shields sure inspires me to be the best I can be, by not comparing myself to others, acceptance is key, I love you mom!!! And my real family :) today is my anniversary of my adoption

She said her mom always told her to have manners and be respectful yet how respectful is it for a mom to coordinate for her 10 year old child to pose naked for playboy. Etc etc.. it seems Brooke was still in denial back then. Sadly moms can behave in horrible ways.

Sorry Dillion...not putting all NY women in the same category. I liked her until she started commenting on MY after his death. MR was quite selective about who he shared personal information with to protect himself. Her mom did every thing in her power to get her daughter to where she is today. Terri made sure of that, her life centered around her daughter 150 percent to ensure she would have a place in society. An alcoholic? Wow, can we not renemies her without dragging her into a bottle? Loved her mom.
