Brookhaven has a very inviting and attractive downtown area, with numerous restaurants to choose from. And the boulevard stretching over two miles to I-55 is teeming with business activity, making Brookhaven a dominate economic center for all of southwest Mississippi.

In the opening shot, those three short concrete steps leading up to the parking lot behind the black and white trucks used to lead to my grandmother Cain's house.

I used to live there but of course my parents moved to Madison Mississippi, so guess where I’m living now, Madison. It sucks here I just wished I lived in the country again. I missed Brookhaven, I lived on Mt. Zion road across the street from a bike trail. Also, go to Jamey’s Pastry shop, they have the best cookies

Looks can be deceiving... Nice polish but rotten underneath. I lived in Brookhaven in 1960 - 1962. It was run and populated by some of the most hateful and prejudiced white people I've ever encountered. Maybe it's a wonderland of contentment now, but I vividly recall the numerous mean small-minded people who delighted in delivering threats and violence against any perceived movement toward racial equity. Even Brookhaven's church pulpits spewed racist rhetoric and supported segregation since many church members were active in the Klan. For example, with the enthusiastic support of Brookhaven's civic leaders, the Methodist Protestant church (particularly virulent segregationists) paid to turn Whitworth College into the last bastion of segregation in the South. While the campus is now the Mississippi School of the Arts, it's window dressing to hide 100+ years of deep-seated hatred and avarice towards non-whites and their supporters. Sure, go there and drive around, but know that beneath the wholesome public version of Brookhaven lies a mean-spirited history of hateful ignorance, voter suppression, and brutal intimidation.

Please make one specializing in all the wonderful homes on S. Jackson, Natchez Ave., and N/S. Church...

Take out the tarred road at 1.25 and it would look like s old western cowboys town!
