The Aurora Luxe by Brooklyn Bedding is a 12″H hybrid mattress with a combination of foams as well as a base of zoned coils, targeted to be more supportive in the middle and less firm towards the ends of the mattress.
It scored great in our performance tests, offering good cooling, low levels of motion transfer, a fast response time, and great pressure relief. The only real strike against it is the edge performance, which was a little lacking. Aside from that one issue, the Aurora Luxe is a fantastic mattress.

Thanks, Kale! Appreciate the kind words. Very true about the Diamond Flurry Lux. Diamond has been making mattresses for decades, so I know they've got the manufacturing capabilities. However, this is the first one I've tested from them that really blew me away with the performance and build quality. Just a fantastic mattress. Arguably the most cool mattress we've tested to date (excluding active water cooling systems).

Your channel should be higher in the search results. I'm glad I scrolled down enough to find this. I just bought this mattress and absolutely love it. I almost went for the Purple 4, but I saw mixed reviews on how people liked the different sensation of the top layer. I was scared it might be too weird, but I may get one in the future. Thanks for your thorough reviews, especially the sex category. I do want to ask about the longterm use of these hybrid bed-in-a-box mattresses, regarding sagging. Do they hold up pretty well over time, specifically the Aurora Luxe, and maintain the same level of support? Thanks again.

Thanks so much for your kind words :) Hopefully RU-vid's algorithm will agree as well. Your comments on Purple 4 are spot on. I think the biggest challenge for Purple is the unique feel...some love it, some don't. It's such a unique feel that it can be jarring for many sleepers. Regarding long term usage of hybrid bed in a box mattresses - it's going to vary widely by the material quality used within the mattress. The fact it's a hybrid or a bed in a box doesn't have a dramatic impact on that performance. It has more to do with the top layers of comfort foam. How dense are they? How thick are they? How is the build quality? BB's Aurora has thick and reasonably good quality foams. I would expect it would be 3-5 years before you start to see any notable sagging and 7-10 years before it starts to become bothersome. Having a high performance foundation can help to reduce sagging and extend the life of your mattress. So don't skimp on that.

Any thoughts on the new cloud pillow top available for the Aurora and Signature Hybrid? Another YT reviewer indicated it made only a slight difference on the Aurora. Thanks!

I'd recommend Nolah Evolution 15, it performed notably better compared to the BB Aurora in our tests. It's a pretty significant step up, in my view.

Great video. I am trying to decide between the Brooklyn bedding aurora and the new bear elite hybrid. Any suggestions. I haven't seen any videos comparing these 2 mattresses yet. I'm a side sleeper looking for a mattress that sleeps cool. Thanks

Thank you! BB Aurora is a great mattress, however, the Bear Elite Hybrid is notably better. In our tests, BB Elite Hybrid had better cooling, better edge support, and better sex performance. Most other categories were similar performance. If you've got the budget for it, I'd say go Bear Elite Hybrid. I was going to go with the helix midnight luxe but in my research I decided the BB aurora and bear elite hybrid were better choices for me. One question on this - The Brooklyn Bedding website says the mattress is 13", and at least one recent reviewer (w/ 2022 version) measured the mattress with a level on top, showing 13.5". You call it a 12" mattress. Is there that much variation in their manufacturing process? 😬

Looks like I made a mistake. I just double checked our measurements and it's 13", not 12". I just wrote 12" by mistake in the script. Sorry for the confusion.

@@1MrKale You'll see a little variance in manufacturing but it's usually something like 0.25-0.5" thickness and 0.5-0.75" on the length / width.

@@Phuong_Nguyen_ Winkbed Firm is a 6.5 and Aurora Firm is an 8. Though they are less enough to your 7 out of 10 that they could be good options for consideration also.

@@NapLabReviews the aurora seems to be all over the place with its firmness rating. Some people have said it felt softer than advertised. And the medium will be too soft. But I heard it’s a really good bed for it’s price. Unless there are other beds you recommend in the 1300-1600 range.

@@Phuong_Nguyen_ It's definitely a good choice for the price. One of the best value mattresses on the market. If you're in the $1300-$1600 range I would go with one of the Winkbeds. While the Aurora is a great value, the Winkbed has better material quality and better overall performance.
