When I stopped going to meetings, I felt better and better. Many days I go to bed early, at times I do some Bible study, I never feel guilty. I feel closer to God than I ever did before. As an ex elder and Special Pioneer I too was greatly troubled by this new teaching/understanding as you were. My mum always said to go to the" head and not the tail" and ask them .....IF they don't know the answer how will the rank and file fare any better. So I'm now 48 and I left when I was 17 in the 90's. So please tell me if I'm not crazy..I was raised a jw and to this very day I'm not a jw. I live my own life, have a family, had an extreme wild life as I'm a metal head, punk, goth industrial music person, etc. Long story short I still hold the good things that the witness held like manners, respect etc. however I feel like the jw never left me. It's like I still have a piece of the jw's still in my mind and body to this very day as it has never left. Every so often I still feel guilt and other such crazy religious feelings. I know it sounds insane but I feel like the way Marines always say...."there are no ex marines as once you retire the marines always stay with you." So I feel like that as in the witness always stays with you even though you left. Sorry the for the long rant. I still take the good values of jw life with me...not the bible or religious or jehovah stuff. I hope I'm not crazy for thinking this.

When this doctrine came out, that's when I stopped attending for good..its sad really..so many people, including myself used to believe the end was close... now with my father at 84 passing last year, reality really sank in. They may be sincere, at least I believe the rank and file are, but its sad how they keep putting new carrots out in front of the flock to keep them going..but I think in the next few years, more and more will just fade away like I did.. there's only so much you can logically force yourself to believe before it becomes ludicrous

Whether the end is close or not shouldn't really be a factor. Hell, Jesus made it sound as if the end were coming within one generation of his lifetime. Remember, in essence, Jesus said the same thing 'Judge' Rutherford said: "There are some of you standing here today who will not taste death at all, until first they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds with great glory...." Nearly every member of every Christian denomination has been expecting the END to come during his/her lifetime.
Jesus was speaking of the end of the Mosaic system of things. When the Romans laid siege to the city of Jerusalem and finally overthrew it in A.D. 70, the temple was burnt to the ground, the Jews were killed and /or dispersed, and the High Priesthood, the Sanhedrim and the sacrificial service were all abolished. JESUS' prediction came TRUE within the lifetime of those Jews whom He was specifically addressing while He was alive on earth. God came to His chosen people with Judgement because of they refused to believe in His Son whom HE'd sent to save them.

The generation/1914 teaching is a complete disaster. I told my wife, who still goes to the meetings, that I would have more respect for them if they said they didn't know what it meant, instead of this continual change in "understanding". They look foolish every time "Jehovah" shines "light" on their bullshit. It's like they have to prove they have god's spirit if they have an explanation for every scripture. I stopped going to the KH in September of 2014.

I am from Lapulapu City, Cebu, Philippines. I was born in a family that are Jehovah's Witnesses. I am also a Witness. My husband retired early from military service in 2013 to join me in my faith. My two sons and my husband got baptized in 2014. It is our goal to serve the One True God as Jehovah's Witnesses. I took up PSS last October 19-24, 2015. Last December, i came out into open about some of my queries. I am too afraid to ask because i know it is risky. My questions are as follows: 1.) Why can't we follow closely the examples set by our Lord Jesus Christ and his apostles in addressing to our Heavenly Father? In fact, Jeremiah 3:19 NWT says: "I also thought that you would call me, ‘My Father!’ ". They never address the Almighty God in such a way that we, Jehovah's Witnesses, frequently do. One of my Bible Studies who attended the meeting for the first time commented: "I like the prayer but i just wonder why in your publications, casual conversations, and here in the Kingdom Hall, you often used to address our Heavenly Father simply as "Jehovah" alone." He was stumbled and refused to continue his study. 2.) Are we not responsible for others who showed interest in the Bible but got stumbled because of our tradition in addressing the Almighty? Yes, i was convinced that being Jehovah God's friends, we are authorized to call Him that way as the prophets did, who existed before Christ, BUT I am afraid of what the Bible said at 1 Cor. 8:9, 11, 12 NWT: "But keep watching that your right to choose (authority) does not somehow become a stumbling block to those who are weak.11 So by your knowledge the man who is weak is being ruined, your brother for whose sake Christ died. 12 When you sin against your brothers in this way and wound their weak conscience, you are sinning against Christ. 3.)How does the organization apply the words of our Lord at Acts 1:7 when our Lord instructed to his apostles: “It does not belong to you to know the times or seasons that the Father has placed in his own jurisdiction" and yet there were time prophesies made by our organization like for example about 1914, 1925, and 1975? When those time prophesies failed, who, then, were accountable to the Almighty, or should we say to the Christ, for those who got stumbled and left this organization? I am afraid to say that they were those whom we know and called as "faithful and discreet slaves" who fed them and who are now feeding us "new light". I was shocked upon realizing these things that i cannot control my tears in my supplications for forgiveness for all my negative thoughts about them because we deeply respect and commend them for everything they’ve done for us. 4.) In our book entitled God's Kingdom Rules (kr-CV) pp:102 i saw the pictures of the last Christmas celebration in 1926 and the Cross and Crown which was used until 1931. So, my question is: What was the basis of claiming in 1919, that this organization became the God's Spirit-directed organization? 5.) If the light is getting brighter and brighter, a.) can you explain what does our 2012 calendar mean when it said "the gathering of the humans with earthly hope began after Christ came into Kingdom power in 1914"? b.) can you explain what the Watchtower Study Edition, March 15, 2015, foretold? Learn From the Illustration of the Talents Par 11.) Jesus said: “After a long time, the master of those slaves came and settled accounts with them.” (Matthew 25:19) The Master, Jesus, will do this toward the end of the great tribulation. Par. 13.) Just before the great tribulation, God will give his final approval to the hardworking anointed ones who are still on earth at that time. This is their final sealing. (Revelation 7:1-3) Question: If final sealing has been done before the great tribulation, how come that there’s still ‘settling of accounts’ toward the end of the great tribulation? I do believe that the True God is not of confusion. According to Insights of the Holy Scriptures, ANTICHRIST means "denial of any or all of the Scriptural teachings concerning Christ". When i asked some of the elders in our congregation about these things, they told me that if i wont stop questioning the organization which means questioning our God, which is bad, then i will be disfellowshipped. I can see now that the structure is just the same as those of the Pharisees cited at John 16:2,3 NWT Men will expel you from the synagogue. In fact, the hour is coming when everyone who kills you will think he has offered a sacred service to God. But they will do these things because they have not come to know either the Father or me. I cannot anymore see God's love in this organization nor the Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ guiding this organization. Me and my family are so sad because we are now afraid that we will lose all our friends and relatives who are Jehovah's Witnesses (my uncle is an Assembly Overseer but cannot also answer our questions). We do not have outsider friends aside from our Bible Studies because we kept ourselves busy in group witnessing, cart witnessing, handling Bible Studies, family worship, attending midweek and week-end meetings, and personal Bible study. I feel pity for my family and feel responsible for the situation. I feel like i am spiritually hungry while the organization keeps on claiming that we are in a spiritual paradise. I seek for more spiritual food but then they would like to disfellowship me (for apostacy?) and perhaps all of us in the family which includes my husband and two sons. We are supplicating that the Holy Spirit of our Heavenly Father thru our Lord Jesus Christ will guide us towards His true congregation.
I would just say one thing... real truth stands up to any amount of scrutiny. If an organisation is forbidding you to read certain things, unless its their own website or literature, why is that?

I've been researching things the last few months and have decided to stop going to meetings as well. I don't believe any longer that this is God's chosen organization. I'm believing more and more that...we all have a personal relationship w God and we have the freedom to approach him and come to accurate understandings through our one on one connection with him. We are all important...not just JWs!
Interesting, I passed Calc 4 (A+) , Linear Algebra(A+), Differential Equations(A+) and all the Advanced Chemistry and Biology Classes for a degree in Science. When I googled the definition of the word generation it said "people who live in relatively the same time period". So even though Joseph had some older brothers and some younger ones who outlived him, they still lived in relatively the SAME time period. Not only that, but the Insight book under generation says people who are born about the same time in the very first sentence. It does go on to say that Jesus' use of generation in Matthew: "he was also using the word “generation” with reference to humans whose lives would in some way be associated with the foretold events during his presence". There is NOTHING about overlapping life spans in their own publication!!! It's totally new... I don't see how "new light" = changing the definition of words. Ugh.
In other words, even Watchtower's presumptuousness, and reproachful predictions will not stop God from doing what he said he would. There's a Watchtower article which actually tries to pat itself on the back for continually 'crying wolf' by claiming that it is far better to have a watchman who is overly sensitive, than one who fails to give warning. The problem with this reasoning, is that the first or second 'false alarm' would probably get most watchmen fired. Indeed, Deuteronomy 18:10 DEMANDS it.

At least you got a reply, belated as it was, sad to say it wasn't helpful. I wrote to London Bethel in early 90's about CSA but did not receive any such reply, although there had been police involvement. I left that organisation in 2005 it was the best way forward. Most of the JW's I know are lovely people but they are somehow blinded by the promise of everlasting life on a paradise earth. We will see. Thank you for your video. David Walsh.

In the mid seventies our overseer said “The end is that close the watchtower is now talking in ‘months’ not ‘years’. I was also told those who ‘saw’ 1914 and understood its significance would have to be at least late teens. That means they would have had to be born around 1896 or thereabouts. And in 1975 there would only be a few alive... So even back then 1914 to me seemed like a dud and I was told also that the whole world would be preached to before the end and that there were about 50 Jws in China. So how could the end be ‘months’ away yet millions of Chinese never even heard of the Christian God. It’s all bullshit, always was, always will be.

if you read carefully matthew24-1-33 you will see that many of the numerous signs Jesus gave regarding "this generation"are indeed here and thus fulfilled,equally you can also list signs that have NOT yet taken place,they are still future. If they are still future,then that would mean the generation that Jesus is speaking about is fluid, at this point in history.It is NOT until every sign that Jesus gave becomes apparent in a single generation then those ones of that time would know. Jesus says this in mattew24:34 34Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. NOT ALL THINGS HAVE HAPPENED as yet,so it is impossible to define"that generation" at this time.Rather than trying to determine the generation,which the Jw's have done to their own demise.We should rather listen to what Paul tells us to do while we are waiting for Him. 1 Thessalonians 5:2 "for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night." I was told. Do not question Jehovah's anointed ones. Pray to Jehovah, he'll give you the understanding. I questioned the same topic. In my case, I kept on asking questions. The answers that I received weren't satisfying. Little to no scriptures were given, just believe what you are told.

John3:35 The organization/governing body refuses to honour the Son in the same way we honour the Father.John 5:23. The following verse uttered by our Lord Jesus best describes the plight of the Jehovah's Witnesses. John14:23 says....... Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them." I implore all Jws to read carefully Jesus words,you MUST honour Him as you do the Father,it is obedience to that command which is devoid at kingdom halls. The evidence of this is the confusing and ever changing doctrines that are being devised by men who refuse to look to Christ who is holding the seven spirits in HIS hand.Revelation 3:1 It is He that is directing His church on earth,not 7 men in Brooklyn.
I had concerns about this also, but then I remember that it is he that endures to the end is the one that will be saved, They call these things new truths and everyone gets excited again, The generation that saw the beginning of the signs were thought to be Brother Franz who died in 1994 but during the time he lived or to put it another way his generation others were born and witnessed the signs and became anointed, these were known as contemporaries and the youngest I know of is 51 years old who professes to be of the anointed, so according to scripture he will pass through to the Great Tribulation and fulfil bible prophesy by being part of the living anointed to witness the conclusion of the system of things.

I am a born-again evangelist and i was talking to God "please show me 2 lost people that i can invite to church, next day, i encounter 2 jw and invite them to my church. The look they had in their faces said " how dare you" and they were asking if my church beleive in the trinity in oder to make fun of me,i said yes 1rst jhn 6,54, and some other place in Math ,baptized them in the name of the father,the son,and the Holy spirit,they were mad and pass me their bibles to show where those verses are,i told them their bibles has been altered,they said that i am liying, i said,i challenge them to go make comparisons with the 300years old king James version and they will see,they walk away real angry,.I earled at them,jhn 3,16,GOD so loved the world that he gave his only son that whosoever believe in him shouldn't perish but have everlasting life, not jw only,it's whosoever whosoever. God has a sense of humor,i thought that God was going to give me 2 different LOST SOULS.
It's very sad and disturbing that for well over a century they have put such emphasis on dates. However, what could make the situation even worst is if the great tribulation should unfold in ways completely unexpected for JW's. At that time one can't help but wonder: will they continue to stay loyal to an organization or will they stay loyal to God and his son? That may well be a test that many will have to face. One can only hope that their love for God will survive whatever downfall the Watchtower may experience in the future.

For over 1900 years, Christians have been trying to work this out. Many of the most famous names in the history of Christianity had a go and got it wrong. Perhaps that shows Christianity is wrong. But what about the other main teachings of the Jehovahs?They say God is unitarain , not trinitarian. They say that the soul is just the living, breathing person and not immortal; they say that hell is not a place of eternal punishment , but just the Grave. Have you abandoned all of these heresies too ?
"We understand" "he evidently meant" (random belief meant to sow false hope and generate donations) The organization has done this soooooooo many times. I started to be suspicious back when I was in my early teens, and asked my dad (an elder) why our kingdom hall didn't have a full library of watchtower volumes? My uncle was the congregation PO, and I felt sure that we needed to place an order with the society to fix our shortage...... of course they told me that we no longer use watchtowers from before the mid '60's because of all the "new light". Also, for anyone that cares, the reasoning book still states the old generation doctrine in plain English on page 200. I wonder if they will phase out the book?
What are the names of all those at the top of the leadership of this cult, and what is it's command/ leadership structure, ty. Is there anyone secretly in control above these men? I believe there very well could be.

Ex-Witnesses and the Other 20 Million or so that Attend the Memorial, Year On Year, Although only Around 8 Million of them feel the need to turn in Monthly Field-Service Reports to the Watchtower Service Dept. Presumably the Other 12 Million or So Are Happy to Serve their God Knowing That their Service is Freely Given Hoping that their Reward might well be of Greater Value.

Barbara Anderson, former staff member in the Watchtower's Writing Department, says Jaracz was single-handedly responsible for the hard-line attitude towards child sexual abuse victims and the way the Service Department dealt with such abuse. After being appointed to the Governing Body in 1973, Jaracz, as head of the Service Department over all Watchtower's elders, heartily promoted what the 1972 directive had stated. Due to Jaracz those molested were silenced, while their molesters, often elders, were allowed to stay in good-standing.As the years rolled by the numbers and percentage of pedophile elders and other pedophiles among the congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses quietly increased, reaching crisis proportions that would eventually become a scandal breaking onto the world news.Jaracz detested the October 8, 1991 Awake! about molestation and the following April 8, 1992 Awake! article that contained letters thanking the Governing Body for that Awake!. He even ordered the Watch Tower Society's factory not to print the April 8, 1992 Awake!, but was overruled by the second-in-command of the Writing Department, John Barr, when Barry was out of the country and could not intervene. Jaracz was single-handedly responsible for sending forth Circuit Overseers to intimidate child abuse victims into silence by threatening them with disfellowshipping if they continued to accuse Watchtower elders and ministerial servants of having molested them. He rewarded one especially diligent Circuit Overseer, Guy Pierce, by inviting him to Bethel, and, eventually appointed him to the Governing Body . Another Circuit Overseer, who helped Jaracz out by threatening victims, was named Beagle. He also was called into the Service Department. However, Circuit Overseer Beagle, who was being groomed for the position of member of the Governing Body , died after being in Bethel only one year due to a viral infection in his heart. Informants say that before Beagle took ill, he had requested to go back into the district work.

OK so last night I wrote a fairly lengthy reply to a JW (Daro Weilburg, check out his ramblings on his RU-vid channel) who commented on this video a few months ago saying basically we were liars and apostate and to go to his channel (comments disabled BTW) to find out the truth about the generation meaning. His video response was basically saying anyone who leaves are and I quote "morons" and then he encourages all the morons to come back to the organisation. Unsurprisingly he deleted his comment and thus my comment as well. These ultra holy witnesses who respond to videos they are told by watchtower not to view are as fake and hypocritical as the ones they "warn" about. I'm fairly certain that if the GB saw his videos they wouldn't approve of the tactics and language he is using to try and encourage those who have left to rejoin the organisation. It's "brothers" like him who give the organisation a bad name, amongst the miriad of other things they do.

How can anyone take the dozen or so verses out of the New Testament that foretold the return of Jesus and miss the point that Jesus is speaking of those he was speaking to? He chastises them, he exhorts them to pray, not be found in a state of drunkenness etc making it crystal clear his words were directed to the generation standing in front of him. “So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” Luke 21:31-32, 36 KJV Yes, I understand the implications of Christ telling these specific people that he would return, but he did not. Regardless of being unfulfilled that is the correct understanding. "Overlapping Generations" that's crazy talk.
I agree, Jehovah's False Witnesses do use Man's reasoning. Also the Anointed Remnant are 12,000 Jewish virgin males of each tribe of Israel as stated in KJV Revelations 7:5-8 & 14:4-5. And Matthew 24:34, I just have a question do you read a living Bible or a Dead one? These are still Bible times, that generation will not perish because the text is talking about the present generation that will see Jesus. If the servant cannot be greater then his master and if Jesus does not know the day nor the hour but our Father which is heaven why should we expect to know more then Jesus? This is very brave of young JW's to speak out like this. You'll give courage to other JW's to have the strength to question and explore any doubts they may have and not fear The Governing Body, though the demonising and shunning is likely the greatest fear after concluding it wasn't The Truth after all.I've not read a Watchtower or any other JW publication for around 25 years now and I know I haven't missed anything.There are many nice and sincere ordinary JW's though.
Hmm, "scripture references please" -sends references to watchtower articles- OHHH now I get it, the Bible has been replaced with the Watchtower now, that makes sense since obeying Jehovah or God has been replaced with "obey the governing body". The new light is obey watchtower as the word of god and the governing body as god.
