This was so helpful, thank you so much. I just found out after years of running, That I overpronate when I run. After running nearly 150 miles between January and February, I overstrained my right leg. The DR. told me I need to get a running shoe with arch support or as I am learning from this Video GTS. All the research I have done for the last few weeks was leaning me towards the Brooks 22 adrenaline. This video has convinced me. I like to support local MD. businesses, you can Consider me a new customer. 😊

Great detail thank you. I train for ultra marathons and have probably used 7 of these in various 18-21 models. They are perfect for me because of the 2E width option. I went to a running shop and did a gait analysis, and was recommended something else initially. I then was recommended these by an online running coach without any analysis and they were way better! thank you for your video now I now understand what I am wearing a lot better!!

Go-To-Support GTS stands for "Go-To-Support", which for Brooks Running means the use of medial and lateral GuideRails across their stability line. The Adrenaline series was one of the first high level stability shoes to move away from traditional posting a few versions ago, which was a shocking change at the time.Dec 11, 2021

8:11 the first shoe in brooks family that utilizes the guiderails system was Transcend 1, the successor to Trance 12 which was one of the better traditional stability shoes I've worn. Brooks marketed Transcend pretty heavily and told people that was the new age of stability, but the whole Transcend line just never felt good to me. On a side note, IMO the concept of stability guiderails was really first introduced by Hoka, they just never promoted it in anyway and called their shoes neutral. Early Hokas were very narrow and have a deeper "bucket" design, so it had that natural medial support if your feet were to overpronate and crush into the bucket walls. I had some severe flat feet and overpronation issues before my surgeries, and really could notice whether a shoe really had good medial stability or not. Really appreciate shoetubers who actually know and emphasize the importance of stability 'cause most popular shoetubers are just people with normal feet who don't know how it feels like to have overpronation issues.

I had the adrenaline 21. They were great. I went back the next year to get the 22’s. After a few days I noticed they bothered my right foot/ankle. I brought them back and got the new balance 860 v13 which I’ve had over a year. They just work better for me.

Good review. Most of my running shoes are neutral, i don’t have an overpronation issue but my ankle is weak due to repeated severe sprains. I find these comfortable to run on despite heavier than my other neutral shoes. Sometimes, just a slight misalignment of the insole or sockliner inside my other shoes will cause ankle pain. I am beginning to like my Adrenaline gts22

Via your comments, its good for everything, which I like. My only issue is the 12m drop. Do you think that would mess with my hips, posture or lower back due to it being 12 m. Does that makes sense.. Thanks sir.

Many thanks for your review. I just started running in these in 2E, recommended by my local store, moving from Brooks Divide (8mm). Unfortunately since I've started running in these I've had quite significant pain throughout my feet. I've only done about 20km in them so far so will keep going and see if it changes. Trying to figure out what this could be - do they simply need more breaking in, or whether as only a mild over-pronation coming from a neutral shoe it's the overcorrection you speak of? Or moving back up from a 8mm drop to 12? Who knows..any thoughts appreciated!
@RunMoore
@RunMoore 2 года назад
It is likely moving from a neutral to a stability shoe is your issue, since the difference in the drop is not drastic.

Hi,, thank you of this great review,, a question : i have bunions of both big toes, does this model works well with me ? Or could you recommend any other brand such hoka bondi or so ?!
@RunMoore
@RunMoore 2 года назад
Brooks have a tendency to run more narrow, especially towards the toes. You could try the adrenaline in a wide. However, hoka and altra are wider cut shoes that allow for more room in the toebox. Specifically, altra is made wide in the toebox and has been a successful brand for our customers with bunions.

For the past few years I've been wearing the Addictions but they are getting hard to find in my size/width, is this a good transition? Would something like the Dyad be better? I don't run much but I do lots of walking/working out and I stand on concrete/wood all day at work.

@@KarlFernandezDOP Well. I ran 2.5 miles outside in my Nike Invincibles on Friday night. Was my 1st run in them in a week - the last time I felt IT band pain from running in them. The pain came back. I took Saturday off. Stretched my achilles and TFL/IT band.. did some glute exercises. Today was my first run in the GTS 22s, on a treadmill. Honestly it felt pretty dang good. I was more conscious to land on my midfoot, emphasizing to make contact with the inside of the front ball of my foot knowing the outside/supination heel action is what is aggravating my knee/IT band. These shoes definitely make it feel more natural for me to have an even stride. The knee is still a little sore but I was able to go 2.5 miles straight without having to stop due to pain. I'll continue taking it easy to nurse my knee - it usually takes about a week for the soreness to fade when I aggravate it. As far as the New Balances go - I'll get back to them eventually. The real test for me will be to take them outside and get a few miles straight on them to see if they make my knee act up. They both (GTS 22 and NB x860) feel pretty similar, but what I don't know is whether or not the NBs cause me to supinate more.

@@KarlFernandezDOP Just so you get the full picture. I am a new runner, about 2 months in. First thing that happened to me was heel pain from worn out shoes. So I thought I needed max cushion and bought Nike Invincibles. Learned quick with those they hurt my knees. And based on their wear pattern I found out I am supinating. So now I am just kinda testing different shoes to find what works. I should have just had a gait analysis done looking back... as someone could have likely put me in a good shoe from the start. But I am a bit of a bone head and am kinda just figuring this out on my own as I go. :)

I am not extremely familiar with Addidas running shoes. However, the Ultraboost are neutral trainers that seem to be on the higher cushion end of shoes that Adidas offers. The Brooks Adrenaline is Brooks' mid cushion stability shoe. Meaning that it has guide rail technology in the shoe that will compensate for both supination and pronation. It is designed to keep you planted on the center of your foot. As for the difference in the numbers (21 vs 22), this is referring to the generation of the shoe. The 22 is the updated version of the 22. There are typically small modifications and improvements made to the shoes in each generation.

They are quite similar shoes, the Glycerin GTS is the max cushion version of the Adrenaline GTS and it runs about a half size smaller than the Adrenaline.

I’ve been waiting for the 22 to drop. I tend to go for cool colors and really like the color of the first one in the video. Is it brighter in person? I have been running in the Brooks Adrenaline GTS for years (over-pronator with borderline narrow feet and flat feet, bunion on my right foot and mild planter fasciitis right foot). I may try the Hoka Arahi 5. If that one doesn’t agree with me, then its back to the trusty Adrenaline GTS.

Thanks for the vid. I bought these shoes today, switching from Ghost I bought yesterday. I have heel, arch, ball of foot pain. Also knee and lower back. Would glycerine be a better option if it is more cushiony?
@RunMoore
@RunMoore 2 года назад
The Adrenaline has the same amount of cushion as the Ghost, but with added stability or arch support. The Glycerin is like the Ghost but with more cushion. Depending on whether or not your pain is caused by not enough cushion or not enough stability, either option could be better for you than the Ghost. Knee pain usually indicates a need for more stability while the ball of foot pain usually indicates a need for more cushion. To get both more cushion and more stability in a Brooks shoe, I may recommend the Brooks Levitate GTS.

Is this shoe also good for boxing work??
@RunMoore
@RunMoore Год назад
You can certainly use this for boxing work. I may also suggest two other shoes. The Brooks Launch GTS 9 and the Altra Provision 6. The Launch is like the lighter and faster version of this shoe so might be less clunky than the adrenaline. The Provision has a "balanced cushion" so it is great for lateral. It also has a tremendous outsole for any gym work. Thanks for watching.

The Adrenaline 22 is probably our most popular shoe in the store. It fits well and has great stability. However, I prefer the Glycerin GTS. It costs a little more but it is way more cushioned. I put that shoe up against any big fluffy Hoka shoe. If you prefer a stable yet cushioned shoe, go with the Glycerin GTS. If you want lower to the ground and a little firmer, go with the Adrenaline. Hop that helps.

This is my first time buying brooks I am beginner (active ) person trying to pick a good primarily running sometimes gym and everyday use - Issues with current shoe, stress and pain on the big toe area (ASICS gel wide shoe ) ( But I don’t understand why this pain in toe area when I am actually rolling out like supination confused here) So confused between buying Brooks Ghost & Adrenaline 22 My inputs from trial, shoe size 9 regular ( My foot is actually wide but usually regular fits) 1. Ghost 14. - Fits well, neutral no stress on front foot fingers or big toe area, - not much contact at the arch (my foot is slight high arched) - easy going 2. Adrenaline 22 - Snug fit overall, good contact at arch same cushion as ghost - But when I was walking I was feeling pressure on toe area ( Not sure if it was coming from a little walking before going into store ) - like the way it’s designed and look :) -- Design Look and fit wise I liked Adrenaline but NOT sure if that’s the right one for me Any helpful would be greatly appreciated, this my first time buying with this much of research apologies for long message 🙏🏼 Thank you!!
@RunMoore
@RunMoore 2 года назад
Sounds like the Ghosts feel more comfortable. It is possible that the guide rails in the adrenaline are making the shoe too stiff for you and are possibly contributing to this uncomfortable rubbing on your toe. It may also be that the shoe is not wide enough so I would recommend trying a wider width!

I heard you mention Adrenalines are some of the most Brooks shoes you sell... I had very serious over-pronation... I seriously ' Loved ' the Beast 16s... They were perfect in every way... But after wearing couple pairs for two years ( alternating shoes every week & 1500 miles later ) Over-Pronation was completely healed / corrected... Plus I never experienced Plantar Fasciitis while using Beast 16s. I wanted to buy more Beast but sales person said that's not advisable because media posts & support would now cause foot to role outside / supinate... So I bought many, many different models & styles of road & trail shoes: lots of Hokas & few different Brooks... I have both Adrenaline GTS 21 & just got 22... Overall shoes feel Great, But forefoot / toes feels like there's nothing there, like my toes are dangling in mid air over cliff. So STRANGE never felt that In any shoes before... Heel feels very comfortable with lots of cushion & support... The forefoot & toes feel like there's no cushion & it's just bare... So I was wondering, what do you think about Glycerin 19 GTS & Addiction 15 GTS as an alternative until Beast 22 comes out later this year? Brooks Glycerin GTS 19 38 heel : 28 forefoot : 10 drop DNA Loft midsole Brooks Adrenaline GTS 21 & 22 36 heel : 24 forefoot : 12 drop BioMoGo midsole DNA Loft foam in the heel Glyerin GTS 19 Higher Stacked Height in Heel 2mm & Especially in Forefoot 4mm, is what I needed...

@@RunMoore I'm in the store trying the Glycerin GTS 19s on... Surprisingly the midsole feels better but toe box on my left foot feels little too snug... My big toe is rubbing against medial / inside of shoe... Never felt that before... There's enough room in front of all toes... Rest of shoe feels very good... The Glycerin GTS 19 feels way more supportive than the Adrenaline GTS 21... The Glycerin GTS 19 was replacement for Trancesend... Hopefully Beast 21 with GuideRails when it comes out will provide same level of cushion & support as earlier versions of Beast prior to 20s... But inside / media GuideRail will need to be firm enough to provide motion control should over-pronation be excessive... Thanks for suggesting Glycerin GTS 19... I had max cushion insole custom made to fit my feet in store... Other than little tight on left foot ( big toe rubbing little against the side / medial edge of shoe ), they do feel great.. 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥 Purchased shoe & Custom Insole... Thanks for your time... Thanks for your suggestion... Thanks for your personal interest... 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥 I'm going to Alternate between: Glycerin GTS 19 Adrenaline GTS 22 Brooks Glycerin GTS 19 38 heel : 28 forefoot : 10 drop DNA Loft midsole Brooks Adrenaline GTS 21 & 22 36 heel : 24 forefoot : 12 drop BioMoGo midsole And see which one I keep... Maybe both... The Higher Stack Height & Lower Drop of Glycerin Seems to be enough of difference to make it feel better... Glycerin Heel 2mm higher & Toe 4 mm higher ( with 2mm less drop ) G: 38 heel : 28 forefoot : 10 drop A: 36 heel : 24 forefoot : 12 drop For pivotal / lateral movements the Adrenaline seems more stable... Glycerin GTS 19, even with GuideRails seems a little soft on lateral / outside edge & could possibly be easier to roll ankle if landed Off kilter on uneven payment, trail or on small rock or acorn or anything on medial / inside part of sole that would cause foot to tilt outward... While sitting down and foot placed squarely on floor, just moving ankle slightly to outside is very easy in Glycerin GTS 19... Not so with Adrenaline GTS 22

Just ordered me a pair should ship next week 12.09 You're the only full review... Curious? I use shoes like this for what they're designed for, walking or running... I'd like to know, if use in gym & use shoes for leg press where pushing ( 80 to 200 lbs ) more than your body weight or toe raises, where forefoot is in contact & push lots of weight, would that cause midsole cushion to prematurely wear out & fail? I'd like to wear them for everything in the gym including cycling on Stationary upright, Encumbent, Treadmill & all strength, resistance & leg press & toe raises... So if leg presses or toe raises could significantly shorten life span, then I won't use them in gym... Thanks for sharing... What's difference other than support in Adrenaline GETS 22, Glycerin GTS 19 or 20 & the Levitate GTS 5? P.S... You mentioned Guide Rails are good for side to side work. Does that mean Guide Rails helps foot / ankles from rolling to either side? Thanks for mentioning Adrenaline GTS Is basically the Ghost with Guard Rails... So as mentioned earlier what would be difference between Adrenaline GTS, Glycerin GTS & Levitate GTS? Adrenaline GTS 22 : 12 Heel Drop Glycrrin GTS 19 : 10 Heel Drop Levitate GTS 5 : 8 Heel Drop Is larger / higher heel drops better for heel strikers... I'm a very heavy / focused heel striker... And used to have serious over-pronation... I bought several ( 6 pairs of Beast 16 when 1st came out ) & rotated between two pairs every few days... Each shoe lasted more than 700+ miles... For total of 1500 miles for two pair... The running shoe store took videos of my foot with shoes on & barefoot & over-pronation was very visible... After 1500 miles in the two pairs of shoes I went to get new pair of shoes even I still had 4 brand new pairs of Beast 16... When they did video again of me walking on Treadmill with shoes & bstefoot... All over-pronation was completely gone which was good news... Bad news is they said I shouldn't use my Beast 16s or Beast 20s because support in shoe would cause me to supinate ( roll outward )... Beast are ' motion control ' GTS shoes are max, non-invasive support shoes ( meaning, if need support Guide Rails are there when needed, if not needed, there's no interference in gait )... Enjoyed your video I'm going to subscribe, like & checkout your other videos...

Using them for a leg press workout will compress the midsole in the same way that standing for long periods of time will; but this likely won't significantly decrease their lifespan, since leg press workouts tend to be short bursts.

@@RunMoore Thanks for quick response... Leg press & toe raise exercises aren't so no much a concern as is the additional weight... Body weight plus an additional 50 to 200 lbs... I'll buy brand new pair of shoes & test them see how long last before midsole cushion goes limp

I have more than 10 running shoes. Adrenaline 22 is no different from the cheapest ones I have with a rather dead midsole with minimal rebound. Try Hoka Clifton 9 Rincon 3 or NB Rebel v3 if you want something comfortable and responsive. Adrenaline 22 was a great disappointment. Overpriced and mediocre at best.
