Irish South Sider Keep on plowing my friend. This world is a rocky field and the plowin is tough. But the Lord is watchin. And He sees the stand we take. God Bless. Keep on plowin!
What a wonderful soul you have my friend. From one old 60 year old white man to you my friend, we are brothers in spirit. PLZZZZ NEVER CHANGE MY FRIEND. GOD BLESS YOU. ❤
My father got sick with brain and lung cancer when I was 6. I watched him suffer for 3 years and held his hand while he died. I was angry with God for a long time and even denounced him. The first time I heard this song, it brought me back to him and I bowed my head for the first time in a very long time. Good choice.
Honey- you don’t get the song you WANT, you get the song you NEED. Things come into your life for a reason. Just be open like you have been. One day, you need a good cry and you’ll remember this song and listen to it over and over to get it out. I was coming back from ovarian cancer and I read book after book that made me cry. Because I needed it. It was a purge. In the words of Dolly Parton in Steel Magnolias, “Laughter through tears is my FAVorite emotion.” Listen to Forever Country by Artists of then , now and Forever.
I'm 72years old. And you make me feel young watchin a good sensitive soul like you enjoying music of all types that I Love. Like watching with an old friend
This song makes me cry also and every time I listen to this it makes me to get to heaven even faster so I can be with my uncles and my papa again. And it makes me sad to know that a dream I had was me after I had died and was walking to this big beautiful gate with all these beautiful flowers and plants going down beside the path and I gate to the gates and I saw my family on the other side of the gate and I went to run to them but it's like there was a wall in between and i could see them and they could see me but i couldn't get to them and i couldn't go into heaven. And i walked back away from them and went off to the side and fell to my knees crying out and I could hear my mom screaming for people to pray for me. And while I was on my knees I felt someone grab my hand and I looked up and saw a man who was just beautiful and I believe it was jesus praying with me trying to save me after I couldn't go into heaven. But I have had people tell me that the dream was that I died and he there to give me life again so I could finish what he put me on this earth to do.
Brother, I am 52, I'm a 10 year veteran of the US Navy, and I cry every single time I hear this song. I have all of Brooks and Dunn's albums and this is my favorite song of their's. And it's a damn good reminder that there are better things coming...
PS, this is why people love country, tells the story about heartfelt life without all the bad language, and I see you and your reaction and this tells me music reaches everyone and brings us all together as one God bless you I love watching your channel thank you
Country music is full of storytelling. When those stories meet up with vocals like ronnie dunn well then you get tears. God bless you sir. The words written in Red are what eases the pain.
You’re an old soul bro, it’s refreshing to see a young man who can feel this type of music. I’m only 32, but I feel like even most of my generation just doesn’t feel music the way I do. It’s beautiful and it’s Therapy. Keep up the good work man, you’ve definitely earned my sub and if you’re looking for any other good songs to look into may I recommend another Chris Stapleton joint - Either Way.
From what I've heard he basically is the boy in the video. This is a song about what happened in his live. So much so that they rarely sing this song live, because it's too emotional hard on him.
You haven't missed out, your 23 man you got a chance to open the world and see the things that are hidden there in the places you never knew you were supposed to be looking. I'm glad your seeing country music how us country folk see and feel it.
If a song can bring a smile to your face or a tear to your eyes, then the writer and singer have done their job to leave a lasting memory in your soul you will always remember.
The great awakening us happening before our eyes. We will unite. We the people will unite and not let our government divide us. Or politics. I have a political preference, but my loyalty lies with my fellow Americans. God bless us all. I love you people.
Sweetie, it's not that we want to see you cry, we are crying ourselves. The songs are relatable to all if us. That's part of the beauty of country music.
The hallmark and cornerstone to country music is all about "telling a story" with the song. That's what country is all about and every artist and fan will say the same. Thanks for giving this a listen, brings back memories for me. Theyre my childhood favortes
My young friend, you haven't missed out, you're just making new discoveries for yourself. That happens to all of us throughout our lives. Everything in life happens when it does for a reason. God has a plan for each of us. Maybe what God allowed you to experience in the past, helped you to appreciate what you're discovering now even more.
I've been listening to this song for years and never get tired...it's not about the pain, but the love that was there...the old man instilled value in him...he was the young man in the story.
thank you for taking my recommendation on this song. yes it is a sad song, but i look and hear these kinds of songs a little differently. these kinds of songs give me perspective of life and how precious it is, and makes what and who i do still have even more dear to my heart. keep it up..ill hit you with another recommendation in a little while.
My Grandad used to tell me, "don't cry for the people who have died, but for the people that love them that are left behind". He was a very wise wonderful man, just like you. I'm 59yrs old now, and I see thing's I never did when I was younger. You're a wise soul in a young man's body. Don't regret the past, you're amazing. 💜❤️💜❤️💜🇬🇧
Replaced only by mr. Stapleton. That being said, i dont think evem chris has the technical control like Ronnie does. That man is on a whole nother level.
Sometimes it’s all about timing. I found country when the time was right for me and you have the heart and feelings on your sleeve temperament which’ll make country speak to your heart and pull you right into the lyrics and emotions they evoke. I’m 45 now and got into country in 1993 when I was 24. I was driving and was just in the frame of mind to get lost in a song and the right one came on (All These Years by Sawyer Brown) and it stayed in my ears, my mind, and in my heart for days afterward until I had to buy the CD. That’s how it started for me. Glad you like how country songs paint a vivid picture and that each one is its own story. Please review/react to Alyssa Lies by Jason Michael Carroll, All These Years by Sawyer Brown, Not That Different by Collin Raye, ‘Til I Was A Daddy Too by Tracy Lawrence, Remember When by Alan Jackson, Just A Dream by Carrie Underwood, Don’t Take The Girl by Tim McGraw, Matches by Sammy Kershaw, Strong Enough To Say No by Blackhawk, and I Still Believe In You by Vince Gill!!! That, my friend, would give you a nice look at how great country music was in the 90s (the best decade for this genre).
I have always felt that this song was filled with hope. A young boy becomes friends with a old man, there is no regard for race, his family were friends & they shared things back & forth. This old man shared his faith & built that faith in this young man. He learned truth in a vital way, maybe more than you could in church. It shows me that relationships are important & we have so much impact on each other. And this was a real experience for Ronnie Dunn.
This song was about Kix Dunn, the singer, as a boy & his experience with this man. He has a hard time singing it live...you ought to react to him doing it live. I can't remember the exact video, but I'll find it & send you the link...talk about giving you chills! Plus his voice is amazing! One of the best in country music. Need to do some more Skynyrd...if you haven't heard Freebird, start with that, then you can just throw a dart at their list of songs & be hard press to find a bad one! My fav band of all time!!! Can tell you all you want to know about them (and many others from that era...and before...and after lol)
The first tome I heard this song I cried like a baby and now many, many years later I am still crying when I hear this song today . AWESOME Singing ,writing and music .
Since the Protestant reformation and the advent of the King James Bible, the red words are the ones spoken by God in the old testament and Jesus in the New testament.
Elders are visionary, their insights, wisdom and knowledge are impeccable and exemplary. They shouted to the mountains and sea guided by their faith and dreams, their paths are meant to follow. You're looking to your soul for references by experiences and presence that's touched by multiple thoughts, mentors and memories. Recognize the "Circle of Life" as American Indians observe, there's Beauty before us, Beauty besides us, beauty behind us, beauty beneath us, beauty above us and Beauty all around us. Be true to your heart and soul. From a Navajo Vietnam veteran ('70)
Great song! It’s really fun watching you discover country music. You have been recommended some good songs though. Not all country music is as good as the songs you’ve listened to so far. But many, many are (and not all so sad) LOL! Keep up the good work!
If you believe in Heaven , this is a wonderful song. I played it at my dad's funeral. The singer wrote the song. You need more country music. It's full of stories. Be happy for Old man Riddley.
Its you willingness to feel that makes us want to share with you. The song is sad, a true story from Ronnie Dunn's childhood but the message delivered is powerful. Feelings like this from the heart help to unite people.
I'm 61. When i was a little girl I would ride my bike or horse about a mile to Mr. and Mrs. Raoul's house. They waited for me and loved how much I loved listening to the stories of their life. We didn't see color, we just loved each other. In those days we were all so poor, my mom told me it didn't matter what color you were, when someone died every neighbor got together and built the coffins. My grandfather ( who we lived with) took care of a farm and property for a rich family. He would cut the tree down and they would shave and cut it. My grandmother made bisquits everyday for homeless people passing threw. They did all this on $25 a month. We had a cow for our milk, we had a garden, chickens and we had meat once a month. Best of life
to quote another song "Sad Songs Say So Much" You are no longer a child, you grew older and wanted your horizons to span beyond the familiar. I love seeing the world of music that is familiar to me through your eyes. It gives me an opportunity to revisit the memories of my youth; it drives home the fact that I need to continue to teach music appreciation classes. Songs teach, songs touch; they can bind us together and unite so many different people in one mind. That is why songs that come from concerts where there are thousands of people singing lyrics are so powerful. You keep doing what you are doing, James. The world needs more people like you. (my oldest son is named James. So was my nephew, my brother, my daddy and his daddy before him. A good strong name!)
Don't be upset with yourself for not discovering these sooner. Take joy in the fact that you have found them now when you're still a young man but old enough to appreciate them. I didn't really 'discover' music until I was about your age when I took some musical theory and composition courses at school. It TRULY opened my eyes and I've been better off for it ever since. There's joy and unity in music. It's just up to us to listen. I also had a 'Mr. Wrigley' in my life. I just hope that someday I'll be the kind of man who can pass on the gift of friendship that he gave me.
It's actually really beautiful to have someone teach you that there is something more than this. Mr. Wrigley is probably the happiest he's even been, with his wife and son. So, this song is really anything but sad. ❤
If you'd like to check out more country, but want to find something a little bit more cheery, maybe check out Brad Paisley. He's another country legend. He has some really serious songs, but also some fun, positive songs. Might I recommend a few for you? Waiting on a woman Little Moments Alcohol Celebrity.
Cry because it's so beautiful and profound, not because it's sad. We have to honor that old man for teaching that boy about what matters and thank Ronnie Dunn for spreading that gospel to us. Ultimately though thanks and praise to the Lord, our God.
I heard the singer, Ronnie Dunn, experienced this and they wrote about it. I think you are a wonderful christian man and I am so enthralled in your reactions and your sharing with us. I pray for you, I love you, I will meet you one day in heaven because we will never meet here on this planet, but heaven will be a joyous reunion. GBY! ~sheila~
This song makes me cry every time I hear it.but it also reminds me of a man that use to work in this woman’s garden we would talk he always gave me a rose 🌹💕
The friendship was versatile and the child learned about faith and God from him friend. So he knew he was united with his wife and baby. That is faith and a great feeling to know and to believe
J B- What we saw and heard is THE BRIDGE we all should cross before it is too late. This one of the most emotional songs ever written, and no one could drive this point home like Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn.
It really isn't a sad song. It's a great song about their relationship and the wonderful impact this great old man had on this young mans life. And he will see him again because he Believes. I have so many people in my life that I miss but I know I will see them again. Blessings dear heart.
Sweet little brother, these aren't sad songs! They're songs of faith and hope and the joy we have in KNOWING our losses are only temporary. Country music (and bluegrass) tell stories about real-life. Every day life is what we sing about and dance to and cry to and take heart from!
I am over twice your age and I always hear music I have never heard. Some through you too! You just keep on listening. Music brings EVERYONE closer even if we can just talk with each other about a song. How beautiful is that! God bless you! 🙏🙏🙏 PS A REAL man can cry when folks are watching!
Firstly, I'm a 63 year old Southern born and bred white guy. You and I had the same reaction. Maybe the lesson and the spiritual reason for us BOTH being exposed to this song is for BOTH of us to grasp an understanding that it's the things we ALL have in common that outshines ALL our differences. I'll unashamedly admit that I wept the first time I heard this song. Hanging with you (watching your reaction) was a beautiful thing and an honor for me personally. All the best my friend. God bless. I have no doubt that we'll meet up on the other side one day.
Don't beat you self up I am 60 and did not listen to this music until I was in my 40's. It took a 20 yr old to introduce me to modern Country music. That is a song of joy. He Believes
I am super soft hearted and songs like this have a way of speaking volumes to those who are willing to listen. I think the reason so many people suggest songs like this for you is because you are willing to listen. For me, I need songs like this to help carry me through the hard times. They offer a chance to see through your hurt, knowing that there is more than just this moment in time. It is a beautiful thing to come to that realization.
I love when you find great songs and singers that you might have never heard before love their music...Keep our hearts and out minds open to new things..
I love a lot of different types of music but country music has always spoken to my heart. A lot of people judge country music without actually listening to it. Great storytelling :)
Great reaction, thank you! I'm so glad you are beginning down the rabbit hole of Country music. This song was written by the singer Ronnie Dunn ( the singer ) Kix Brooks is the guitar player! This is a true story in Dunn's life and, the reason for him getting saved!
For me this song is more emotional than sad. I cried all the way through. I hear the spiritual message in this song. There is much more to life than what we see every day. James, you are the perfect person to react to this song.
You are a good soul young man! I'm 65 and was a music snob when I was 23! If it wasn't classical or Jazz it didn't exist for me! You have YEARS to love music! Enjoy! Love your videos!
Very sad but truly comforting growing up taught that death leads to reunion in Christian teachings. I need this song, at 72 I just found it when i needed it most!❤
