As an immigrant who be came a U.S. citizen and a military retired veteran who grew up in a third world country I thank you for taking the time to appreciate what this country has to offer to people who live here. I think people just forget how good we have it here, it's not perfect but it's better than the alternative. Been deployed to many countries and seen how others live and it always makes me have more appreciation and gratitude for the opportunities that the U.S. provides its people 🤙 'bout to get me these Hyperion Max 2's!!! Tried these on and fell in love with the fit and feel. Had the previous version and liked it and these are a definite improvement. I like slightly firmer shoes and I tend to have a harder foot landing. Keep the grind ✌️ 👊
Thanks for the s/o dude, but yea she a lil firm but remember, this is nearly identical to nitrofoam. It softens up around 20-30 miles and I’m experiencing that now as I’m nearing 30 miles. For me at 175-180 lbs, this thing handles pretty much all paces pretty well, but this shoe absolutely fu**s at threshold and tempo pace. Had the best threshold run of my life the other day in these.
@@TheValonquar I tried on the superblast in stores and wasn’t that impressed tbh so I never bought it. Haven’t ran in endo speed 4 but did have two pairs of the speed 3s. This shoe is firmer than that and in fact, I’ve been saying this rides like a firmer speed 3 with a premium upper.
The difference , from the first half mile through to the last half mile was remarkble (first run) .. and that is why sometimes putting in the time in is worth it.
I feel your message to the people that talking shit and finding reasons why they can’t do things 🙌💪 They overthink the process and getting caught in weeds so to speak. Just focusing at one thing at a time and just focusing at the actual step you‘re taking right now 🙏 Not everybody of the toast microwavers but in my opinion it‘s more common amongst them to over think things and then do anything at all but who knows 🤷 Keep grinding and keep hammering 🙏🔥 I love your energy you‘re putting out in general 🙏🙌
I really appreciate you talking to heavy and/or power runners. I'm an Asics SB, Ghost Max, Puma Magnify nitro favoring runner. I'm heavy and slow. Those work great for me, so i just ordered these while watching this. The speeds and deviate nitros I can only wear for shorter distance or on the track for short and fast. Thanks for this.
This is a great shoe. It is nothing like the first Max. All those reviews that say it is as stiff as the first Max are way out of line. This is a nice spongy shoe. I am over 200 pounds and I can feel the cush without that sinking into the ground feel. GREAT SHOE!!!
I loved the Hyperion Max V1 and was concerned about the plate, but it sounds like this shoe may be great for me. I like the idea of softy shoes until I run in them, I have learned my body mechanics just likes firmer shoes. Oh, and yet another killer review sir. I admit I was like WTF when you said 125 pounds, nicely played.
Brooks is the brand that got me into running so they have special place for me. I always have a Brooks in my rotation and compared to other brands shoe sizing has been consistent. Other brands it depends on the model if I have to size down and I've never had heel slip issues. It's not the sexiest brand and they could be considered the "vanilla" brand of shoes but that's ok, don't like drama in my life 😆 Keep up with the Brooks reviews 🤙
Great review! I just started running in this shoe. I agree about the upper comfort and I feel all Brooks uppers are great. It is on the firm side, which I tend to favor, but also gives me some pop too (more than v1 did..maybe due to the plate?). I tend to like this type of rocker. This is my only shoe right now so I do use it for easy running too. Edit: I just finished a run in them after watching your video and it is quite firm. I'd wear the Ghost or something for easy runs, but they feel so heavy on my feet. I have the Adidas SL2 coming so maybe that will be a better easy run shoe. Sometimes Adidas shoes don't fit well on me (Nike and Hokas definitely don't). FYI on the Tim Grose call out. I watched his review of the reviewers video yesterday. He mentioned you liked or were neutral on the Triumph 22 and Endorphin Speed 4. I posted in his comment section that I've watched all your videos in their entirety. From what I remember, you didn't like either of those (he did say he doesn't watch your entire videos; in my mind he misses a lot of your review by not doing so).
Bought these as daily trainers. I honestly think they are great trainers for me. They can run slow and it is an enjoyable feel, just need to actually run slow in them. Im 175, 5'9" also 10.5 for reference
i was so delighted when you approved of the upper man! i actually prefer firmer foams right now, so it would really help if you’ll tell me the fit is more accommodating than that of the endorphin speed 4 😮💨
Your vids bring me a ton of joy, inspiration & info and I’m grateful for what you do. 🙏 Take care of yourself and forever prioritize your wellness and sustainability so we can continue to enjoy your grind for the long haul!!
Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇲 Was looking forward to your thoughts on this as I just had my first run in it earlier this week. Interestingly, I didn't find it to be too stiff or rigid but decently cushioned, responsive, with that noticeable rocker you pointed out. My first mile usually comes in around 8 min (running fasted, no caffeine, early mornings - #momlife), and was surprised to see 7:30 for that mile. It just kept getting more fun and faster from there! Broke 7 min for the last few miles! Def agree that it's geared towards being a faster training shoe. Really enjoying it so far! Hope you continue to do so as well! And thanks for the passive aggressive insight a long the way lol 😂🙏
I don't think it was supposed to compete very directly with Prime X and Skyward X. It's not a really huge shoe. I thiught ot was supposed to compete with Magic Speed and Endorphin Speed.
Wish I could re-sub on this channel, Yowana! This video was absolute 🔥. Please never stop doing what you’re doing, brutha!! Anyway, this first run reminded me of the Hoka Carbon X 2… took that bad boy out for a run a few days ago. Vintage gold, that shoe!
Loved my Hyperion Tempos as a workout/quicker run shoe. Tried the Hyperion Max but as a heel striker it was a no go. Felt like I landed right at the back and ended up really slapping the forefoot down as I tried to roll through my stride. Not comfortable at all. Too bad Brooks kept that heel geometry with the Max 2.
I had that same heel issue with the 1 but I didn't have it on either of my runs yesterday with the 2. I still want to do the long run/20 mile double test with some slower pace to be sure, but it seems like they fixed it
I bought the ghost 15 in sale as it's high drop and a decent daily trainer. It's super comfortable upper and heel lock but can get hot on hot days. I use the adrenaline gts as my walk day shoe. I returned the Hyperion 1 as the foam was too firm. I have not tried the kinvara pro how's the bounce and energy return? As a heavier runner I find having some bounce is good but asreally need a significant amount of heal rubber as im Landing 200+ lbs on the heal of the shoe
The bounce of Kinvara pro is decent but it's more about the rocker. You may have better luck with the Hyperion max 2 or skyward x based on what you're looking for - that Kinvara pro has no rubber
Another great run day..any run is always a great day..not everyone has that privilege..I find the Brooks shoes too hard for me and the colder it is the harder they get..the uppers hold your foot on the midsole but nothing is great about them..judging from the number I see on peoples feet many runners do use them..I couldn't run every day if they were what I had..happy 4th holiday ..😊
Real on the brooks shade. This new Hyperion Max 2 looks promising but aesthetics matter to me! Brooks are for people who have been wearing brooks but it looks like they’re trying to reach across the aisle! 😂
Love your videos Yowana, but still waiting for you to test some Altras specifically the low drop series. Is there some beef with Altra like there was with ASICS that keeps you from testing their shoes?
I bought the ghost 15 in sale as it's high drop and a decent daily trainer. It's super comfortable upper and heel lock but can get hot on hot days. I use the adrenaline gts as my walk day shoe. I returned the Hyperion as the foam was too firm. I like some bounce not too soft but some bounce is nice.
Happy 4th! Got 4mi in earlier for the 4th. Anyways, can you review the Deviate Nitro 3?! I have a buddy that works a puma and he sent me a pair, love them!
@@supwell - No problem mate, just a word of advice Prime X is very unstable for heel strikers, so the PXS2 will probably work better for you. PXS2 is heavier, and firmer, but boy when you put your foot down you can hit some really fast paces, but feel like you are cruising. For some it would make a really good Marathon shoe.
For me Max 2. Returned the SB2 after 100K. It felt only good on easy and recovery paces. Much cheaper options for those paces. I now have about 100K in the Max 2 and it's getting better and better
@@peterterstege9926 WHERE can you return used running shoes? Who takes used (with no fault of the product) stuff back? I just heard of Brooks who take the shoes back used, and up until 90 days!
More versatile, Hyperion Max 2 or Specter 2? Ready for the Specter 2 vs. Hyperion Max 2 comparison. That’s gonna be a hit! This thing looks so 🔥 that I was hoping it would be more versatile.
Ouu that's a good one. Also a few people have told me the foam softens up after 20ish miles so hopefully that will make it a bit better for relaxed miles
Yes! I’m interested how the magic speed 4 stacks up with this shoe for people who like the kinvara pro for everyday miles (heavier runner) Btw - I love how you call out firmness and how it may impact runners of different sizes. I’ve found these call outs very helpful
I'm a 6'2" 260 pound runner. Firmness with decent response is my sweet spot as soft shoes tend to sink and not rebound well at my weight. Question, would these work as a long slow run show for a runner my size? The fit and geometry seem perfect for my needs but I'm worried that these will keep forcing me to speed up. Your thoughts?
I've had a few people so far tell me these have softened up and work great for them at all paces. Especially given your size and preferences this should be awesome for you! It's right in that sweet spot of slightly firm with nice bounce
Summary: don’t buy this shoe. Tons of better alternatives. >Quality: Loose insole and different weight per shoe. >Ride: Too stiff, too focused for 99% of runners. >Price: How is this shoe priced higher than segment benchmarks like Speed 4, Boston 12, Deviate, etc…? Thx for the review, got me through an hour on the Wahoo!
If you want firm, fast and lightweight the Hyperion 2 is awesome. If you like a bit of a softer feel underfoot check out the Adizero SL2 - bouncy and fast but comfortable and soft
Interesting to see your thoughts evolve throughout the day. I saw a review that said the Hyperion 2 is slightly softer than the Max2; maybe the lack of a plate. I took the Max v1 for an easy run yesterday and it is really smooth. The Brooks geometry just works for me.
That's great insight about the standard Hyperion - weirdly I remember the race shoe feeling a little softer too. The geometry in this though is 👌🏽 reminds me a little of the adios pro 3
I bought this and put 40 miles on it as my intervals/tempo shoe for past few weeks. I lovvve the upper and the looks and the rocker aand foam has settled in as I hoped. BUT a week ago the bone in the left side of my left midfoot (later side?) began to feel tender if I roll any weight into it barefoot, and it’s gradually worsening. And today when I laced up this shoe for my run, I noticed it pressing on me in that spot. I’m sad but think I may have to return them now. Anyone else have this experience?
I actually had the same experience! I overpronate just a little bit. I wondered if it had to do with that? I felt it more after harder efforts than easier efforts. I also only have 20 miles on them. I'm still planning on keeping them since I love the shoe otherwise!
@@stevenreinholt9903 I hope it gets better for you. I think of myself as having a neutral strike but I have no scientific evidence haha. This was the only shoe that ever gave me this pain though and I agree harder efforts accelerated it for me.
Conspiracy theory 👀 Perhaps, when the brands are sending out shoes for review, they make sure the QA is on point. This shoe that you bought like a regular customer has a few QA issues 🤷♂️
Haven't seen anything beyond the typical summer clear out sales unfortunately. Classic Saucony.com discounts and Nike on dicks sporting goods. I should fire up another deals email soon though - link is in description to subscribe if you're not already
Thanks! And not very flexible at all. It's more cushioned than the speed 4 but not as soft. It definitely feels more protective, even though it's a firmer ride - I prefer this to the speed 4 so far but I also like slightly firmer shoes for fast running
It's even a little firmer than the glycerin. But if you're looking for a speed companion to the glycerin with that same cushioned support you'll love this
If someone likes the kinvara pro for everyday training, would this be your recommendation for speed work and long runs with marathon pace? 6’2” 210lb runner
@@supwellhuge help! Just ordered - thank you! On the same topic, I’ve heard the asic magic speed 4 is also a “firmer” shoe. How you place that shoe in this lineup? How do you think it would work for larger runners compared to these 2 options?
