I think I may try them out as well. My current runners are the Ghost 13 and to be honest I hate them now. They were super cushiony out of the box, but they are mushy, spongy, too soft for my taste. I also find that my ankle will roll on unlevel ground, some trails, so I switched to the Brooks Cascadia 16 trail shoe and I like the support and cushion better. I am guessing that the launch has similar level of cushion?
Great review, Tim! I've run in the Launch 3 (one of my all-time favorite shoes) and the 6. I will definitely pick up a pair of these (especially in that color).
I agree with you. I think the tie dye version looks pretty cool. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it. Have a great day.
BROOKS now also has a GTS LAUNCH 8 (with stability, guide-rails). Not sure how it differs from the Ravenna though. Good review. I am a Brooks fan and love the Launch and all it's versions. Thanks for the review.
I'm really curious about the GTS version. The last Brooks stability shoe I ran in is the Adrenaline GTS 18.... So it's been a few years. I've been enjoying the Launch 8. Hey thanks for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it. Have a great day. Happy New Year!
It's interesting... the GTS 8 appears to have the same offset but overall stack height is 7mm higher than the Ravenna 11! Which makes me wonder how they added midsole but cut weight (Launch GTS seems to be about 0.5oz lighter)? I have run in Ravenna 3s and 8s but these are in general lighter and taller... I liked those older versions but curious about comparison like you.
I just got the new tie dye version which seems to be selling out everywhere since it just came out but anyway I'm a Nike person love their Pegasus line but these things feel good for my first Brooks.
Awesome. I'm glad you are enjoying your new shoes. The Tie Dye does look pretty cool. Hey thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great day and thanks again.
Good review! I go way back to Launch 1 having various models most recently #6. In comparison to my most recent workout/tempo shoe Boston 8, 9 I think Boston is a bit softer/resilient with Boost. Now though it seems Boston will be a complete rework in the vein of AdizeroAdiosPro. Perhaps a comparison of Launch 8 to Adidas SL20.2?
Thank you for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it. I think that'd be a great comparison video. I don't have the SL20 at the moment but it is a shoe I've been wanting to try out. Have a great day and thanks again.
I actually had to change out the laces from another pair of Brooks. The laces that came with these shoes did not remain tight enough. The tongue of the shoes did not provide much padding and I could actually feel discomfort from the old laces and the lack of padding. Now that I replaced the lacing the discomfort is not as bad.
My opinion after 900km with Brooks Ravenna: lighter, more springy but steel soft enough, heel part is not so good holding as Ravenna has. Also tested on strides in pouring rain - they holds very good at wet tarmak
Awesome. Great insight. Thanks for taking the time too share your thoughts and experience. And, thanks for watching. I greatly appreciate it. Have a great weekend.
Tim, thanks for the Launch 8 review. It looks terrific. Now question...have you tried the Rewebok Floatride Energy 2 or 3? Same price as Launch but with some surprisingly pleasant elements. I would be curious as to your views on the two shoes.
That's a shoe that I haven't had the opportunity to run in but it sounds really interesting. It's one that I might have to check out. I really like the Launch 8 and now I'm curious about the Floatride Energy. Hey thanks for watching I really appreciate it. I do have the New Balance 1080 V11 on pre order. I think they are suppose to come out early February. I'm looking forward too running in them as well. Have a great day.
Keen to try this as the 5 and 6 was my main trainer for a year or so until sort of moved to the Turbo 2 and indeed all and sundry shoes. Never got the 7 mainly due to the terrible reports. Have you had of the previous ones in the past? Any sizing comments? Does not seem to be out in the UK yet though but can’t be too long one presumes.
This is my first timer running in the Launch 8 series. They ran true to size for me. I do like the upper on these. I'd been running in the Ghost 13 and these have a real similar feel with a little more responsive bounce plus a little lighter which is nice. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great day.
I’ve been using Hoka Rincons and Brooks Hyperion Tempo lately. I do pronate but not too much and have been enjoying the Rincons and Hyperion Tempos. I recently went to the running store and the lady said these Brooks Launch 8 would be great for me and they felt nice so I took these home but the stability version. How would these fit in with my Brooks Hyperion Tempo and Hoka Rincons? I am also looking at Hoka Mach 4 and Hoka Carbon X 2s. From those two which would you recommend? Thank you, great review and running form!
The Rincon has been a favorite of mine. I enjoy the ride and how lightweight it is. I can't speak to the Hyperion Tempo. Sadly I haven't had a chance to run in them. I think it comes down to the workout and the ride you are wanting. Between the Rincon, and the Launch 8, I think the Launch 8 has a more stout midsole with a bit more of a bounce to it. In terms of how I use them, I like the Launch 8 for those workouts that are around 5 or 6 miles while I like the Rincon for quicker pace workouts at any distance, like a Goal Pace Run, Progression Run, that sort of thing. I've really been enjoying the Mach 4. It rides like the Carbon X 2 just without the carbon plate. So they are quick and feel a little softer underfoot. If you are looking for a Marathon or Ultra Marathon Shoe, then I'd go with the Carbon X 2. They are made to go long distances and maintain solid energy return throughout your run. I like the Mach 4's for 5K to Half Marathon distances. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching and asking such great questions! Have a great day.
Managed to get my own review up on these now. Other than us two and Jamison Michael seems to be getting very little attention but actually I think it is pretty good and especially for the price - £100 for us in the UK. I find the midsole "responsive" so a nice cross between fairly firm but with a touch of softness. I managed 16.7 miles in it yesterday which is longest run have done for some time and about 40 miles now in total. Rather a different experience from my last two long Sunday long runs in the Nike Invincible but very similar pace. Are you continuing to use it much?
I have around 40 or 50 miles or so in these. I do like them as a quicker daily trainer. I'm sure I'll be putting even more miles in them over time. I've heard from some runners that the Nike Invincible is either great or terrible. It hasn't been released here yet. I can't even pre order them anywhere so it's probably a shoe that I won't get to, at least for a while. I'm going to be running in the new Reebok Floatride Energy 3 soon. It just got shipped. I'm thinking that shoe is going to be a little like the Launch 8 so I'm looking forward to running in them as well. You've got some great stuff on your channel. I really enjoy it. Keep up the great work and thanks for watching. Have a great day.
Hi, good review, I’m looking for my first ever pair of running trainers and come across brooks. I started to run in my puma trainers that look like running shoes but I think I was wrong as now my inside of knee is killing so I’m waiting on it getting better and researching different brands. Would these be suitable for a beginner just starting out? Starting with couch to 5k and really enjoyed what I’ve done so far. Also considered the Nike Pegasus 37 or some new balance ? Didn’t realise there was so many options but it’s all over my head. Regards
One of my favorite daily trainers this year is the Hoka Mach 4. It's a shoe that can do it all. The Peg 37 is also a good choice. Both of these are neutral road shoes and are a great choice. Both of these are going to give you a slightly softer or more cushioned run experience than the launch 8. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching and have a great day.
Tim, an all around good budget confort running training shoe would be this or the Saucony Axon? Basically the question is Brooks Launch 8 or Saucony Axon?
Hey thanks for watching and taking the time to ask the question. Unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to run in the Axon. It's one I'm going to have to check out in the future. Thanks again and have a great day.
I'm new to running and also do other workouts besides just cardio. Would you say these are specifically for running or could they be everyday shoes for any kind of workout?
It's awesome that you are starting to run. Congrats on that! You could cross train in these with no problem. The midsole is a little more stout than some other daily trainers that are out there but they are a quality shoe for sure. The New Balance 880V11 is also a good choice for cross training as well. Hey thanks for watching and have a great day.
