A traditional Scottish Song from 1651. Cowdenknowes means “Hazel Hill.” “Broom” refers to the yellow blooming flower found growing in the countryside. Cowdenknowes is a Scottish barony east of the Leader Water (River Leader), 32 miles southeast of Edinburgh.
