Perhaps the single most powerful lategame class, the Fisherman is also one of the hardest! Requiring good dodging and careful planning to maximize your shops, this guide has all the tips to help you bait and not get baited.
Great guide man, I died so many times trying to figure out Fisherman on Danger 2, after watching this video I ran it at Danger 5 and completed it on the first attempt thanks to you. Spears and managing those first few rounds make a huge difference and whilst I didn't get to 100 bait I got close, 89 so am pretty happy :)
Cheers! So a funny thing I've heard is that since channels with really dedicated fans often get comments like "engagement for the algorithm," RU-vid rates the words engagement and algorithm more heavily when measuring engagement. If that's true I think it's hilarious.
I'm on xbox and I've been playing this game. I've been stuck on danger 4 though and have been unable to clear it. I'm not bad at video games either. I just think I lack the necessary knowledge needed to make a decent enough build. So I've been watching your videos to try and learn some things that'll help me clear danger 4 and eventually 5.
I know im late to the party here, but i just recently found this game, and i find myself getting lost in your videos for 5-10 hours a day if im not playing the actual game. Super helpful tips and entertaining video's
Thank you!! Just beat this guy. Took three tries and it was only level one to start, but I’m working my way thru every tater first, then level 5. The Bait is real here when used efficiently and you know how good of a player you are. I suck tremendously at all video games, and have since I was young, back when video games started!!!!
Was literally stuck on this character and had to find a guide. I'm so glad that the first video I found is yours as I played 100 hours and only after this video I know about manual aiming lol Thank you so much!
Even after watching this video it took me ages to pass.. but when I got the right start I was almost invincible! I also found that high luck with cyborg, elephant and Cifd's meant I didn't need to move from 20-30 :D Thanks man/Cephalopod!
The fisherman and streamer are the last 2 characters I have not played but thought they have no fun to play. After seeing your guide, I only tried once and beat the 2 bosses of the wave 20 probably in 5 secs. Got 64 baits, and 122 attack speed. The damage is insane! So much fun! 😁 One item you neglected was the item alien eyes. I got 2 and at the end of wave 20, the damage is 155K (I have 132 hp though). Thank you for your guide, man! Now I like the Fisherman! Lol
Awesome, glad to hear it! Yeah, all the non-weapon damage sources are great for fisherman too, though at a certain point I feel more damage is just overkill on the character. Keep an eye out, streamer guide is on the way soon! :D
The retromations hoodies find was huge (dodge=attack speed). It more than doubled your attack speed and tanked your range, which reduces melee attack speed in this game.
Haha true - the good thing about the spear build at least is that you can afford to take a few more hits early thanks to the primitive hp (which you see me do a lot of in this run) :P
@@Cephalopocalypse True. I've tried spears and sticks as well as the various gun options and I'm just not good enough at dodging. That bit at the start where you buy 5 Bait? I've tried that many times. Once in a while I survive, but not very often, and almost never on wave 2. I've seen lots of people do it right, so I just need to dodge better. Thanks for the tips, though, this was still a good and useful video :-)
for me what was more reliable was with the slingshot, the secret was not get ambicious, and only get 1 bait for wave till you start to one shot the special mobs, after that you can start to get more baits (take about 10 waves taking 1 bait), after that, the win is almost garanted
I found fisherman to be easy mode. I used smgs and bought every bait I could afford. Got my first D5 win with him last night. Otherwise I'm struggling to clear D4 and don't consistently win D3 yet. Thanks for the guide!
Very cool! Fisherman is a lot of people's *last* character so you've got one of the hardest out of the way. Just keep doing what you're doing and you'll get the rest!
Tried your strat, got demolished like 5 games straight. Took 3 max for the first 4 to 5 waves and ramped to 5 to 6 on most others including elites and didnt take less on the recommended waves (besides boss on 20) and beat it first attempt on 5. Also found manual aim way worse, and just used movement and timing to line up guys. Learned a lot though thanks for the video.
Yeah for sure, you have to adapt the strategy to what works best for you! When using manual aim, make sure you have it on "manual aim on click" not "manual aim always" - that way you only use it when it's better for you
For whatever reason the only way I ended up beeing fisherman was with the Shredder & SMG COMBO. I tried sling and tried spear for about 20 attempts to no success. Great to learn about the range/melee speed interaction and corner spear strat.
Also a great combo - I think fisherman is one of the most playstyle-dependant classes. Different people will have wildly different results with different weapon sets. Glad you liked the guide! :D
At the beginning of every wave you should move to a corner where none to few enemies spawn in. Try not to trigger your spears into an attack and wait until the special one come at you. The spears outrange them so often they dont even charge/ shoot. Just wiggle a bit from side to side. At the early waves its a bit difficult but once i did that i made it first try. :)
I think the biggest problem with Fisherman is that it is too easy to get sucked into buying every bait you can. It is okay to buy only 2-3 bait instead of 5 if you're struggling. As long as you buy at least some bait every wave you'll end up with damage in the hundreds and you can focus on attack speed and flat melee.
Played this a bunch and a couple recommendations for helpful tips that you could have included. Spears are fine early, but their excessive range looses effectiveness after wave 8. Starting with sticks or switching out spears for shorter range faster striking weapons after wave 8 is recommended. The other point is that when dodging the first charge of Bait Lampreys, you want to side step as their shots fire to your side while they charge in the middle, so an effective skill to learn is to move a little from their charge direction, then stop to not get taged by the bullets they fire. Enjoyed the playthrough and your content.
I disagree that you want to swap out spears - you shouldn't need to attack very quickly since you'll be killing everything in a single strike, so the range and good attack pattern of spears I think is an advantage all the way through. Great point about how to dodge the lampreys though!
@@Cephalopocalypse Thanks for the reply! Both work of course. Spears definitely have more power, but I just find them too focused on single targets instead of horde clearing where all your money comes from. Love the series and keep up the great work.
Completely wrong, spear is an S tier weapon even after all this time, and definitely not one you should ever opt out of, even more so on builds like this one. They are incredible for hordes of monsters.
You know the spear (like ever melee weapon) is a contact-damage sprite, correct? Having manual aim is far les important that keeping movement. With enough range and slow enough attack speed you can run in a circle and sweep all the mobs away from elites bosses.
spent about 5 hours on this guy, dying over 30+ times, i finally beat wave 20, my hands are shaking, ive beaten re 5 on pro, and this was almost as frustrating, it would have gone way easier if i found rip and tear, but i had the worst rng, lol
i had the problem of being overwhelmed by them, they would come at all directions and my small amount of spears couldnt hit them all. id get like 3 bait a round, but still be using like1-2 spears due to the shop being a troll, i just sucked at dodging cuz i have potato reflexes it seems lol. i might try another run aiming to one shot them asap but rounds 1-12 were the hardest, after that i was wrecking@@Cephalopocalypse
If anyone sees this comment - I have tried everything on this dude (sticks, spear, lance, shredders, slings) I always just can't get enough defensive stats by the end everytime
Update - my strat was this and it worked for me. Take all the baits you damn near can in the first 3 waves. With 3 sticks the max baits I could handle was 6 then after that you can scale with all the other sticks and baits. From there you can really build defensively. I didn't upgrade attack speed until wave 9 - I still bought coffee once though. Dodge was my priority mainly because stacking armor wasn't working previous times, so fuck it - I maxed dodge then built armor after unless I bought the Metal Plate. Baits can reverse the penalty. Good luck everyone else - this charater sucks F tier
You got into some superfixation over amount of baits. Far beyond of optimal. I think you should not invest in baits past 80. You should have really bought tier 4 spears and Cyberball once you got them in shop. Cyberball is so damn powerful item once you have some luck.
If you mean you play with a mod to add enemy projectiles, that's a cool challenge! If you think I'm using a mod to reduce them, I'm afraid you're incorrect. Maybe verify your files if you're seeing extra projectiles?
