Do you know what the set/clear button is for? I just found one at a flea market for ten bucks! Works great!

Are you sure the Selectric III elements don’t work?

Thank you for the video, very informative. I just purchased this machine, it's in great condition but I can't figure out how to get the corrector to work and like others having a hard time tracking ribbon 😕

I just found this typewriter at a super price in my local thrift store. It didn’t come with a power cord. Do you know where I can get one?

The cords have that weird connector which I have no idea why they designed them that way... and finding a new cord that will fit is really hard to do. Depending on your level of skills with electronics, it might be easier to hardwire a new plug in, permanently, which I thought about doing when I found one without a cord, but then I found the one I wound up buying, which had a cord.. I wish I could give you a better answer but unfortunately, it's a strange situation... I don't know if there's room inside to remove the power connection and install a more modern one that has the more traditional connection parts but that might be an option.. I'm curious what kind of font ball is installed in yours, because finding a variety of styles is super hard to do too. I have a Pica and a Script. I'll message you again if I figure out where you can get a new power cord that fits your typewriter- For now, congratulations on your new find!!

Where did you find ribbons? All I have found are a few from Germany which are prohibitively expensive.

At the time, I found 3 eBay sellers that had them as New Old Stock and I bought whatever they had- some as little as $10, most were $20, and yes, they are extremely hard to find- I have a small stash now, but what I did was put eBay on Search alerts so as soon as they were listed, I pounced on them. That's my suggestion to you. Definitely skip those overseas prices- although I did see a red one and a green one overseas but at those prices I said NOPE! Meanwhile, there's a seller on Craigslist near the Pittsburgh area that has one of these typewriters and the extras too, including a few new black ribbons, and I think he's selling everything for $50 ... maybe check that out. Otherwise, that's about all I can recommend. The other thing I am actively hunting for are the different types of type balls... Also extremely rare, especially since none of the IBM SELECTRIC balls will work on this typewriter, and since these came and disappeared around 1983, I know the quest is a bit if a challenge. I wish you good luck and hope you get to enjoy this AMAZING typewriter too!

I opened the cartridge and replaced the ribbon for traditional universal ribbon.
