Dunno if you guys gives a shit but if you are bored like me during the covid times you can stream all the new movies on Instaflixxer. Been binge watching with my gf for the last days :)
The bobbin does not drop all the way down into that casing it will rest along the sides. And that circle is actually a dot an indention in that piece of metal. My advice is always take a picture before you take something apart
You don't know how much this video just helpful me , I was about to have nervous breakdown. I have never seen that arrow or dot in all my years of sewing Thank You I can now complete my tasks.
Me too!!! I removed the plate because a piece of fabric was stuck then the bob in piece came off and I was going crazy trying to put it back in place for a few days.
Try re-threading your machine and be extra careful on steps 4 and 5. Keep your thread on the right side of the slot when going up, move the wheel until you see the metal piece (take up lever) catch the thread, and then bring your thread down the left side of the slot. If you don't get the thread in that lever, your machine is going to clunk, not pick up the bottom thread, and make you think something is wrong with the bobbin. I know you asked your question 8 months ago, but maybe this will help someone else!
Omg I cleaned my machine the other day. I just dusted it out and after that it stopped stitching right. So today I tried to sew again and it's still not stitching right. I watched four different videos. I came to yours and I sat here and I took a deep breath and then I took my bobbin case out and I put it back in and I took it out put it back in again lol and then finally it started sewing right. So thank you I guess all it took was patience. But it's midnight now I'm going to bed lol
Yeah mine is not picking up the thread either checked all over RU-vid looks like this unit is going to be returned. None of the videos on RU-vid help with having the needle pick up the thread
thank you - subscribed - unfortunately my problem was more complex than this, but this is a good place to start. a nickel works really well to remove and replace the screws on the cover plate (saw in a Brother video).
Hello! My sewing machine started skipping stitches! And I don’t know why! I used really thick fabric and I think I messed it up! ☹️ you’re really good at explaining! Loved this video
You want to make sure that your thread is properly threaded through the machine first of all. And you need to make sure that when you put your bobbin in it is in the shape of a P in other words when you hold your bobbin in front of you you want your thread to come off on the left side of your bobbin not off the right side.
I have this machine with an a behind it. The bottom carriage kept jumping out off the wheel. I bought a new bobbin housing but no matter how I put it in it's not catching the bobbin threat after I get it installed. I'm thinking the part that catches the bobbin on the wheel has a small piece off of the part that catches the threat to bring it to the top of the machine. Grrr
Good video about the bobbin placement, but you did not insert the bobbin correctly. You should have shown how the thread is inserted into the tension spring.
Every single video I watch, they just drop the bobbin case in, line up the arrow with the dot, jiggle the needle a bit, and hey presto. Real life situation: bobbin case comes out of alignment and flies out of the machine. Try doing it with the plate back on and it just tries to push the plate up, so desperate is it to escape. I have yet to find a vid that shows us the knack of dropping the bobbin case in so this doesn't happen. Is there a certain angle we have to tilt it at when we drop it in? Do we have to press it down hard? Does part of it have to clip under something? Still searching and about to lose my rag after a thousand attempts. Everyone makes it look so flipping EASY.
Crumbly Duckling hoping you found a solution for this. If not try putting the bobbin case in at an angle so back goes in first dot to the right, push to back of case before pushing down front, the dots should be in line. If after doing this it still happens check when the bobbin case is on that the disk on the right at front with a screw is holding it in place if not tighten it a little so the little spring hold sit in place not too tight other wise it won’t move. This could be the problem?? Make sure to replace the top door before using as this will stop the bobbin from coming out when sewing. Hoping you found a solution.
I never post comments on anyone’s content, but I had to for this video- thank you!!! I needed a refresher on a couple of things and your other videos have helped immensely. I literally just encountered this problem and BAM! You had the answer. Thanks so much for saving me some time and my machine!!
Hello did you get the number to replace the case bobbin machine brother lx3817 ???? I can't find that one on the web I made a stupid thing by adjusting the screws of the case bobbin and ruining everything.
GIRLLL you just saved my life 😂 I read another comment that said the same thing… but I was about to go to the store because I haven’t been sewing for months and needed to make a fit!! This was exactly what was wrong. 💓
OMG!!! Seriously!????? I went from Janome then singer because the bonbon holder kept messing up!!! Then I got the brother sewing machine. It’s got messed up too then I saw this video and able to fix it. I didn’t even need to replace the dam bobbin holder!!!!!!!!! I should’ve just gotten this machine in the dam first place!!!!!!!!! Than spending more than $100 dollars on my two machines I got!!!!!!!🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ it only cost me $89 in Walmart for the brother sewing machine. For heaven’s sake!!!!!!
Thank you for this awesome video! Any tips as to what my problem could be if my machine is still not picking up the bobbin thread? I am a teacher and had to take it apart when a student got fabric jammed under the plate. I now have the arrow aligned like you said but it still will not pick up the bobbin thread!
Thank you for your video! I can not find the words to express my gratitude for my bobbin crisis and all the anxiety that came from it. It took me six days to solve the problem. Line up the arrow to the screw. I would have not been able to figure it out. Mahalo from Honolulu Hawaii
Thank you! I followed all your instructions, they were very clear, and the bobbin fit right in, but when I try to pull that bottom thread up with the top thread, it doesn't seem to turn the bobbin wheel to catch that thread. Do you have another tutorial covering that issue?
I have bought this model just some months ago. It worked well in the beginning. Then when I switched from straight to zigzag, the system didn’t switch completely, it made some noise and the needle stuck until now. Do u have any idea of how to fix , thank you
Hi April, you awesome!!! Is there anyway you can make a video on a singer heavy duty 44s no one out there makes any since... Your very easy to follow.. Thank you...
I don't know if I broke mine or what but I don't necessarily see anything wrong. I pulled mine out and put it back in. I checked my bobbin/placement too. It still will not pick up the bottom thread :(
Hello dear I have the same brother lx3817 machine and I think I made a mistake I don't know why I moved the two screws of the case bobbin and now the tension of the lower thread is crazy, I have made it looser and tighter at the same time and nothing is the same . I am very sorry for having done that. Do you know what the case bobbin code of the lx3817 is? It seems to me that I will have to buy it or how to adjust those screws of the case bobbin?
Hi..I'm having trouble with timing top thread not catching.iv followed your video used alan key to turn screw on the bar but how do I adjust the needle bar to line up with shuttle hook.. any help appreciated ..thanks
I confuse because all the other brother lx2375 when you're putting the ball in back in before you loop it to the outside your supposed to catch it on the little metal thing but you didn't you just automatically stuck it right in the new part on the outside of the machine and why is that I don't understand
First of all you didn't point out any arrow and second of all you should never have edited it and showed us how long it took you to put in. And as far as a circle you're pointing at a rectangle. Get your camera and get down in there and show people exactly what you're talking about
Sorry my last response was kind of ehh. But This was a very detailed video then you so much! But I am still having trouble, after I put the bobbin case back in my needle gets caught in the bobbin tray. How do I fix that so the needle will continue to thread?
Thank you so much! In my several years of sewing my bobbin has never come out of place but suddenly did today. I have several commission projects I’m working on and began to panic and worry that I’d have to go to a repair shop and pay to get it fixed and I don’t have the time or money for that right now. But with your video I was able to fix it myself! Can’t tell you how much this helped
While my machine is very new- got it less than a week ago- and didn’t need an adjustment I watched anyway, just in case. Is this something that happens a lot? Should I be concerned? And I wanted to mention that your voice and manner are both very calming which helps a lot when learning a new machine and skill. Thank you.
Thank you so muchhhhh!!!! I was having problems with it and I’m a beginner sewer. I’m glad that I didn’t take it to a repair shop and I did it myself with your help! You are greatly appreciated!!!
The spool pin is meant to hold the thread so that it moves freely while you operate the machine. What do you mean when you say its not spinning? Were you able to fill and load the bobbin?
Cool Calm April I’m having the same problem it is my spinning even after I’ve put my thread and everything back in I’ve done it like 10 times now and have been stabbed twice by the needle I need answers please help
Love how you teach April... so clear, concise, but more importantly, thorough! In the middle of sewing blankets for the animal shelter today my bobbin ran out. Made a new one, inserted correctly. Still not able to get my upper thread to grab the lower bobbin thread. Going to follow this tutorial to see if that will work. Thank you very much
