@@JSternDesigns I have a PE800 and want to upgrade so I can start doing hats and other items that are difficult on my machine ... any suggestions? I think I'd like the PRS 100, but I think I'd like a multineedle machine more ... maybe 6 needle?

This was such a good tutorial. I have 9 fleece blankets to do for some Police Officers and I wasn't sure what type of stabilizer to use on the back. Now I know. I'm putting their last name and badge # in a block font and I'm also gonna sew a patch that has the City name. I was gonna put the Name on the first line then the patch and badge # on the second line but I Kinda like the way you did yours. Gonna see what looks best. Thanks a bunch!!

Great tutorial! I have been very undecided how to embroider on a store bought item. I was thinking of using the same stabilizer you used, but was afraid it would not hold up. Glad to see all the comments, and your answers that it does. On one of your comments for a napkin, you said you charged $12.00 for embroidery plus thread and stabilizer, how do you determine how much for thread and stabilizer? I just ran across your video this morning. So glad I did. Thank you!
Yes... Like the Sulky Solvy water Soluble Stabilizer that I put on top in this tutorial! Definitely helps the stitches to form and not sink into the nap. Thanks for watching :)

My pleasure... I'm in the camp of not wanting to see the edges of stabilizer on garments... So I always try to use wash away or a tear away stabilizer. For a sweatshirt, you can use a sticky version of the tear away that will hold the fabric against the stabilizer securely. Here's an amazon affiliate link to one that works really well. (Use the recommended Organ needle that has an "anti-stick" coating to keep the needle from getting gummed up.) amzn.to/3MByy9W If you are stitching out a heavy (dense) design, I would slip a second piece of regular tear away underneath the hoop to add more support. This video was so helpful! I’m new to embroidery and am making a baby blanket. The topper that you used, what’s the name of it? And it I only have tear away stabilizer can I just use a piece on top and a piece on the bottom?
I am so happy to hear this helps you! Using tear away stabilizer on the surface of your baby blanket will add more stiffness to the design because you can't remove it from under the design after it's finished embroidering... I like to use Sulky Solvy on the surface... It completely washes away when you launder it. Here's an Amazon Affiliate link: amzn.to/3W7Ltmn You may also want to use a wash away mesh in the hoop. It's more stable than the sulky solvy and also completely washes away. Here's a link for that. amzn.to/3VROW8R (I've used this brand over some more expensive brands... works just as well!) Is the wash away stabilizer that is used for the backing adequate to hold up the integrity of the embroidery with washings of the blanket? I need to embroider a couple of fleece blankets and have been so undecided whether to use a cut away poly mesh or the wash away!!
Hi Patty, I embroidered fleece blankets for 4 years in a row for the ESCU Volleyball team senior gifts... They held up using the stabilizer I show in this tutorial :)

:) this project was "Pro Bono" for my daughter's college volleyball team. I have done embroidery projects for a fee. When I do monogrammed napkins (3"x4") design, I charge $12 per napkin. For a larger design like this one... maybe $15 -$20. Don't be afraid to charge what makes it worth your time. It's not just getting it into the hoop... you have to pay attention to it the entire time and then remove the stabilizer. ...Saying that, I'm not a Professional Embroidery Business, so you might want to check with small businesses that do this all the time! I don't do much hand embroidery, but it seems to me that if you are working on a surface with a nap like fleece it can help the stitches form on the surface before they sink. If you are using a hoop, the clear topper can protect the surface of the fabric that's being squeezed between the hoop. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching.
...I charge $12-$18 per piece... The more of the same design, the closer to the low end ... I did a set of 24 Monogrammed linen napkins $12 each + thread and stabilizer expenses
