Very nice! Rock Antenne is one of our biggest rock radios in Germany… checked them yesterday… believe it or not, Automatic Sun was playing! It’s on rotation there! Yes, this Euro tour was sold out completely, 19 shows in 11 countries! Thanks for your reaction, guys! 👍⚡️🤘

Thanks for reacting to this interview. So great to see how excited and humbled they are about their growth and widening impact! This interviewer asked really good and interesting questions that I haven’t seen DPA have to answer before. Particularly about their culture, which made them think and, I feel, provide a great answer. And when asked about the next five years it’s great to hear how focused they are about playing for more and more people. For them the drive isn’t just about producing music but about playing the music and have as many people hear and enjoy it. That’s why they will always be so awesome performing live. That’s what drives them the most.

The songs in keep me fed were written 3 or 4 years after the ones on error so they have changed as people and so not surprisingly their sound is changing with it. Yes songs are cowritten but it is the direction they want to take right now. The songs are heavier than error in many cases especially live. No ballads and Dany on lead in every song. The next album will be different again. They are very proud of what they have recorded and very much in charge of their art.

The new music grows on you. You need to give the songs a chance. I love the difference. And they have gone in different directions while still having the music sound like The Warning. They need to do this to broaden their reach and attract new fans, especially at the big festivals this summer. I recall going to an all-day festival back in 2004. That was the first time I had ever heard Theory of a Deadman. They were on early and only about half of the crowd was there, but they blew everyone away. I became a fan. So, yes, it absolutely works.

Yup, I thought the album title had come from ‘MORE’ as well but one of the clips they dropped (just recently. after this interview) for all the unreleased songs has the exact lyric “keep me fed” in it. But that’s our job, to keep the band laughing with our crazy theories 😂.

Besides not usually wanting to be the center of attention (publicly at least), I read a comment on another post of this interview that Ale had laryngitis. And she seems at first to just go along with her sisters always, but it seems that she might be the most independent thinking of all three of them. She stands alone, doesn’t do what her sisters do, and mostly she doesn’t ever seem to be a follower just to feel included. Honestly…. If they ever do break up as a band one day, I fully expect it to be due to Ale deciding to do something different in her life. Fascinating young woman who shares nothing…. Next to Pau who shares literally everything. And I don’t even know how to start on Dany’s again completely different personality.

Ticket prices are expensive because artists don’t make a lot of money from sales of their music anymore. Most listeners get their music by streaming which gives the artists next to nothing. So artists make up the revenue they used to get by selling CDs and records, through ticket prices. Additionally, many small venues went out of business during the pandemic. So there are less venues available. And those can charge artists more.
@DJMichelangelo1

The new songs have indeed caused vertigo among some fans. I didn’t know that fuzz and distortion were crippling to certain sensibilities since I grew up listening to and continue to listen to music filled with fuzz and thunder. But I understand how change can be deadly to a band. I abandoned most of my progressive rock heros of the 70s when the record companies started making them try to write 4 minute radio songs. And The Warning has lost certain fans along the way. One big supporter thought Queen of the Murder Scene was too juvenile and disappeared. (I have no explanation). It’s bound to happen, but I love all the new stuff. I listen to the new songs every day.

Personally, I think that Live Nation/Ticketmaster are making it very difficult for lower and middle tier bands or artists (like The Warning) to get ahead financially, and they are also hurting the smaller venues through their predatory control. Only a fraction of a ticket price actually goes to the headliner. I think two of the reasons TW has been successful in this regard is their sponsorships, and their Patreon income which they fought hard with the label to retain, and provides a fairly stable income stream. 😎👍

They always come across so well in interviews. It seems as though someone has woken up to the idea that there is money to be made from this band, and that comes with its own set of challenges. It's the point where some fans who have been with the band from their early days might start to fell left behind and become a little disgruntled. It can also be an uneasy compromise when outside writers come in and producers exert a strong creative influence. It tends to be because someone wants a hit record and not because they care about the integrity of the music. It's something most bands eventually have to take. I've known people become very disillusioned with the process. It isn't just bands who struggle financially, but smaller venues as well. The industry model is entirely geared towards arena shows. Manchester in England is just opening a new arena seating around 25000 people. This to compete with an existing arena seating over 20000, not to mention another venue with a capacity of over 10000. That's a huge investment in music that has to appeal to the widest or most fanatical demographic to justify itself. It doesn't leave a lot of room for bands or venues that just want to put on music shows.

I can tell you the new album sound is nothing like thete previous four (including Escape the Mind EP) records. Heard snippets of the last 7 songs. Personally, not to thrilled about them. There are no 23, Error or Kool Aid Kids vibe in that bunch. The song they are releasing on May 17 called *"Burnout"* was the weakest of the seven. I love Qué Más Quieres, Automatic Sun & Hell You Call A Dream. Both More & Sick I can do without. I can safely say *Keep Me Fed* was not produced for their older base. Since younger cover bands are covering these new songs already like Sick & Automatic Sun. Of course I ordered 4 cds (3 individual signed covers) & a picture vinyl disk of *Keep Me Fed.* So I'm not giving up on them. It was bound to happen when the ladies released *FILLER SONGS.*
@glennandadriansrocktalk
@glennandadriansrocktalk Месяц назад
I think what you're seeing has two components: 1. lack of time and lots of pressure to get a new album together, aggravated by the delays of the pandemic, and 2. the desire to keep learning and experimenting, this time in the hope of expanding their current audience. Chances are the record company wanted this and asked them to try it. The results are going to decide how they move forward. Meanwhile, they still had final say about what appeared on the album, and of course they will be playing these songs live, which is a big motivator to create new music they like. I think Dany put it into perspective when she said they viewed the classic bands as their Dad's music and not necessarily theirs. Perhaps what we hear in Sick and More are them trying out more ideas that are closer to what they personally like, though whether they end up defining the band after this record remains to be seen. The fact younger bands have picked up on some of those songs means perhaps they are plugged into something that many older listeners aren't.
@StepnieW
@StepnieW Месяц назад
Can't really say if Burnout is the weakest of the singles. We have yet to hear the whole song. Most reactors didn't pay attention to Qué Más Quieres until TW released the official music video. "So I'm not giving up on them." So you only became a fan when you heard songs from the Error album, huh? It sounds like you're ready to jump off the bandwagon when you hear a snippet of songs TW hasn't released yet.

People don't have to like every single song form an artist, my favorite band used to be ACDC, ( and even so, I used to skip some songs) the last album being "For Those About To Rock" since then they started to decline for me because the sound begun to change, and from the following albums just a couple of songs if I was lucky. Now The Warning is my favorite. And I feel great because I feel enthusiastic about a band again, so if I can get at least a couple of songs from their albums I'll be happy.
