Its honestly interesting on how they all come around full circle, that one of them, impacts the other three. Phil joined because of Wilbur, Techno did too. Wilbur is dead, impacted all of them. Friend was killed by Phil and Techno, Wilbur was affected. Wilbur wanted to be revived, again, effected Tommy and Phil. What comes around goes around, and honestly, it works. Heartwarming.

The only time he would take it off was around Phil, the only person he really trusted. Anytime anyone else saw him, he had the mask on. Then one day, after Ranboo had moved in with Phil and Techno, Ranboo goes to techno's house and techno takes off his mask...
What really hit hard was when Tommy said on his stream that dream couldn’t revive Wilbur because he knew he couldn’t resist from the manipulation. Tommy will follow Wilbur wherever he goes and Tommy knows that. That’s why he’s scared for Wilbur to be revived because he knows that he can’t resist from Wilbur’s manipulation. He idolized Wilbur and when he came back from the dead he said the brother that I saw in him is gone.

I love how every time techno is portrayed fighting or protecting someone he has the mask, but every time he approaches the others as a brother he takes it off. It shows how he's not just this purely violent soul, and how he actually cares for Tommy and Wilbur. In a sense, it also hides his pain towards the end, and his thoughts as he helps destroy something he knows Tommy loved. This animation is really beautifully made, and 100% made me cry. There was so much emotion out into it, and so many heartfelt and bittersweet references made. Even after watching countless animatics, artists still manage to amaze me with how much they can really show in just 3 minutes.
I sometimes feel like i'm the only one who doesn't like the family dynamic all that much LMAO, and when Phil dies it'll still be just as angsty. And I don't know, I kinda love the idea that he's managed to build such a good bond with Phil because they found each other by chance and built their friendship for such a long time that they basically became inseperable, rather than his bond with Phil being so good just because he's his father.

@@serenakoruba740 Techno had been planning to destroy L'Manberg, Tommy wanted to go with him or at least not interfere, but he decided to forgive Tubbo and join the L'Manberg defense to fight against Technoblade.
If you think about it, it also shows the bond of the 'four' is broken when Tommy chooses Tubbo. (I know he's supposed to be a brother but the animation/story doesn't show him in those early years or part of this arc.) So, he chooses a friend over his brother....which is final straw. They could forgive one another for anything else, because they were family. But no longer.
He didn't exaclty say it doesn't makes sense (after all, part of it is cannon, as Willbur is Phill's son) he just said it doesn't makes sense to _his_ character because he didn't like the idea of betraying/fighting his family
his reasoning was understandable. He didn’t want to betray or harm his family. But I simply head canon that he only said that it isn’t canon so no one can have anything to use against him. So yes. That is how i cope.
i see it as phil is tommy, tubbo and wilbur’s dad and techno is a super close family friend. so it still has the family dynamic and techno isn’t technically betraying his family.
I miss the 2020 DSMP. No rumors. Nothing bad happening. Just a couple of people having fun and roleplaying, making videos, and just having a good and fun time. I miss the old duos, trio's, and friend groups.
I love the references to the SBI moments like the bucket of water being poured on Tommy and Wilbur showing Techno his coat, and the other wholesome moments like Techno discovering Raccooninnit and Techno giving Tommy a turtle shell helmet....

I always saw techno as an orphaned child/piglet who Phil came across and decided to raise as his son so the line ‘even though we don’t share the same blood you’re my brother’ means a lot
also on coloured versions of their phil design the beads are pink red and yellow to represent the SBI so them being broken can be double symbolism for the lives but also the destruction of their relationship :( cry time

When Techno was giving his speech he referred to it as betrayal (if I remember correctly, the part about not being royal) from his point of view
@@izira6351 After Schlatt died before Wilbur went into the detonation room, he declared Tommy as the president. From Technos pov he was hurt and confused since he didn't thought they whould form a new government right after the war, even after agreeing with him that there whould be no leaders/presidents after taking down Manburg. I whould call it betrayal but that's just a personal opinion

Yeah the next frame is the only point in the animatic that almost made me cry. I was on the VERGE of tears, because Techno gave everything to his little brother, and was so willing to protect him, he took him in, he gave him armour and gear, protected him from Dream, and was willing to fight 1v20 just for Tommy, but STILL, Tommy chose Tubbo. Then he came home and went to Phil, Tall and indestructible, yet still in need of support and just goes to his father, who hugs him, even showing how he towers over Phil, but he is vunderable.

I like the touch of "We don't share the same blood, but you're my brother, that's true" when techno hugs Wilbur and Tommy. It follows the retcon that he isn't blood related but also it's really emotional to look back on later down the line
People asking why canon Philza sucks like he didn’t: Very clearly favour Techno over Tommy or Wilbur Help to blow up Wilbur’s proudest creation and Tommy’s home without remorse Do nothing about Dream despite knowing to some extent what he did to Tommy Hear about Tommy’s literal death and react extremely flippantly *Literally kill Wilbur* (and yes he was begging for it but it’s still kinda messed up) Yeah, canon Philza is an awful dad, and he knows it, he just doesn’t care.
I agree... most of the people in the comments are saying how sad Friends death was, but the part where I cried was Technos coldness and Phil’s sadness. After all the betrays, I doubt Techno can ever fully trust anyone apart from Phil ever again, and Phil at this point has had his hopes broken so many times, he simply has given up. It’s so sad... Tommy apologists can attack me, but Techno and Phil have suffered WAY MORE than Tommy in this animatic, and even friends death was less sad than what all of this did to Phil and Techno

GUYS! Why isn't anyone talking bout how Tommy is wearing Wilbur's beanie till the very end?! Even under the helmet Techno gave him?? While on the last scene, he was clutching and crying on it. That simple detail just made me cry!
I remember watching this when it premiered and this time was one of the best I’ve lived through yet. 2021/22. I‘m currently going through old videos and it just really makes me depressed. I miss the time when everything was alright, but now after Techno and Wilbur, it just leaves a bitter taste, to my memories.
My head canon is that they're not like blood brothers, but all orphans Phil took in. Phil, himself, has that loner adventurer vibe but settled down a bit to raise these orphans as his own (probably making up weird answers to the 'how are babies made?' questions i.e. "Your mother was a Samsung fridge, Wilbur") Taking off when all three were relatively old enough to look after each other, which is why he seems kinda cold sometimes or like he doesn't care. Wilbur is the oldest but has been with Phil since he was very babe, henceforth, he considers philza to be his father. Same with Tommy, but with techno, philza took him in a little bit later on, so techno doesn't consider him a father (More like old friends, amirite?) Tubbo really was found by the side of the road in a box, and has been raised with Tommy, but doesn't really consider philza a dad because like techno, he remembers his orphan origins. Anyway, philza continues to take in random parentless children and orphans such as ranboo (maybe even fundy. or maybe Wilbur took in fundy, and told everyone, his mother was a fish and Tommy n crew just believed him because they were all like super young and didn't question it) tldr; Philza keeps bringing home orphaned children like puppies and kittens and the rest of the family just has to deal.

Explains why it seemed for a while why Wilbur and Tommy were so close and techno went off to make a name for himself as the orphan destroyer (or also has loner adventurer vibes too)

Phil probably felt the closest with Wilbur since he was the first, and watching him destroy his own country and making Phil kill him hurt Phil more than anything else on the server. Explains why, he kinda just checks out after that, even when his other children continue to start and end wars. I bet it hurts a lot to see Wilbur turned ghostbur walk around and act like a child again. techno would be the only one who could even begin to understand why he feels the way he does which is why he clings to him the most. Watching his family be torn apart by a country would make anyone a terrorist I think. In his hurt heart he sought to destroy the one thing he believes could fix the unfixable (most people going through the seven of grief could relate I think).

When I woke up today, I missed Techno, I remembered this animatic, and wanted to see one of his memories with his brothers once more. Now I'm crying as I watch this, but that's a good thing, all repressed emotions, coming out because of this work of art. Rest well Technoblade, so long blood god....🐷👑❤
I love how he takes of his big mask for tommy and wilbur cause he trusts them and then near the end when him and dream are destroying L'Manburg his mask is back.
guys can we all agree that this goes much further than being just a dream smp animation. everyone who has brothers can understand the bond with them, the friendship and much more, a relation too strong to split. and that's it, the flashback of their happy childhood while they fight, the happy moments, being there for their brother when they needed, the dark face after the betrayal. this animation legit made me cry. it's awesome

Tommy wears Wilburs beanie when he died so I think its the beanie at the end. Ghostbur wears it also but i guess that Tommy took it from the body and the ghostform just lets it appear cuz he also wearing different clothes
I like the idea of Philza, Tommy, Wilbur, and Techno being a family. It adds more emotion to the story and when they fight it makes the stakes higher since they are all family but yet there is division among them (within the story at least). This animatic does a great job at portraying that. Excellent work!

My Headcanon is that Techno was brought in by Philza and Phil cared deeply for him that he sees Techno as his son but when Techno was brought in he was old enough to know that he is not related to Phil, that's why Techno denies the family tree yet Phil still sees him as family. (this would also explain why Tommy and Wilber didn't act like Techno is their brother)
Phil was cursed with immortality. He's seen history repeat itself so many times, its like a book series with the same twist. But lately he finds,he doesn't really want this story to end.
He knows history is going to repeat and he can’t change it no matter how hard he tries. So he is trying to distance himself but instead everyone of being hurt.
Can we all just simultaneously agree that friend is canonically a part of the SBI Also I loved how you showed that Technoblade is just as sad and broken as the rest he only shows it in a different way. He was just doing what’s right and now his family see him as a villain. Techno has helped every single one of them, but none of them have helped Techno and this animatic captures that perfectly

i started bawling when the part that tommy chose tubbo started playing. i hate how people say techno has victim complex and is a villain, he's really not.
Techno has always followed his ideals. From day one he said he wanted anarchy and it isn't his fault people underestimated that. Yeah, he sort of spawned withers on everyone (Nov. 16th, not Doomsday) but that was no reason for everyone to jump to execution. He wasn't given a chance to defend himself in a trial and everyone wonders why he doesn't like governments. Techno helped Tommy after his exile, and was the only person to do so. Tommy knew from the start Techno was going to blow up L'Manberg, this time for both of them, and Tommy was fine with that right up until he saw Tubbo. Techno trusted Tommy and you can tell, not only because he gave him his axe of peace, but because there wasn't a contingency plan for Tommy's betrayal. And Techno responded the way he always does, by going on the attack and destroying the problem until it stops getting back up.
