Brown Thrashers are stunning birds - cousins of Mockingbirds and Catbirds. This Brown Thrasher couple is a rare sight in the Backyard - they are probably a breeding pair. They are year round residents in Florida but are known as the State Bird of Georgia!

I’m a fan of Thrashers! I have a pair of curved bill thrashers in my back yard in Mesa, Arizona! I feed them and they know me and are very smart and courageous birds! I call them my security birds and they “weet weet” to let me know if somethings going on outside. Thank you for video!

I see these here in Kentucky but rarely. I have a spot under a Willow tree where I like to sit, read & feed squirrels. Cardinals & Blue Jays always land close by. But only occasionally do these beauties show up. Fortunately for me, when they do they hop around some bushes only a few feet away & I get a good look at them. Those yellow eyes! I always hold very still because they seem to spook easily. But it's such a treat to see them.💙

I'm in suburban Omaha and used to have one thrasher that would come by the birdbath and feeder almost every day. Only that one, and sadly I haven't seen it for a couple years now. I've read they're very good singers but I never witnessed it firsthand.

I enjoy observing Thrashers. I live in a city in the Northeast that has Mockingbirds and Catbirds. One part of the city I always enjoy watching and listening to Mockingbirds is part of a shoreline park where there's usually at least one nesting pair. I'm very familiar with the male imitating the Killdeer.

What a wonderful video! I've learned to love these birds and their lovely songs. They are my sunshine. Along with a pair of Mockingbirds I saved & released a few years ago. I kept calling the Brown Thrasher a Sage Thrasher but, today I took some pictures & it had the reddish brown like yours. Goggled them and found this amazing video of yours. They are my joy to watch! THANKS for sharing!

My Thrashers had disappeared for a while and I was extremely disappointed. But this weekend I noticed that they were back! In fact it must be a mating pair because they travel together quite a bit. First thing he did was come into the yard and jump into my ground level bird bath and take himself on nice old bath! There's nothing I love to see more than a Thrasher taking a bath! They are not the most colorful birds, but they are certainly interesting characters. I was super glad to see them back!

I have some good thicket right behind my house and I frequently see thrashers coming by to forage food that has dropped out of the feeders. The thicket is perfect cover for them. Every once in a while one of them will fly up to the porch so I can get a good look. They sure are pretty for a "plain brown" bird. I love those eyes. But right now I have large flocks of grackles coming through and they are devastating my feeders. Most of my smaller birds are staying out of the way. Haven't seen any of my ground feeding birds for awhile. I honestly like grackles, but the number I have currently is way too much of a good thing.

I have blue jays, blue birds, woodpeckers who come to my hanging suet feeder. I have a brown thrasher who comes daily now and pecks around on the ground where I throw seeds for doves. Do thrashers like suet? What else can I sprinkle around on the ground for him? Do they like suet? I love watching him. I never see two at once so don’t know if he is a loner. I live in West Tennessee.

I’ve NEVER seen one, until today! On my bird feeder. At first, “Dove” came to mind. Too skinny and not skittish. Then, a brown Mockingbird (came to mind)?!?! But, it’s too big to be a type of Mockingbird. After a little snooping on the internet, I found you, lol. This is the second “new bird” that has come to my home. The first one is a Zebra (black and white) Warbler. Is this because of all the deforestation? Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE THEM and have a huge variety of birds, but, after the many years of living the country life, I find it unusual for this to happen within a month.

I hope so, I just found a mother and a baby on the ground that the baby fell out of the nest. Baby only a few days old. The mom rounded out a small fox hole in the sand of Florida in my shrub bushes. The baby only a few days old I found during yard work. I decided to make a ground nest for baby and mom also covers with some small tree limbs. To my delight. The mom took over the nest a made it the new home for baby. It's been three day now and baby and mom are still alive and kicking. I set up some water and feeders close by to help out. I hope it work. The baby had no feathers when I found it but seemed only a few days old and only opened a slight in her eye to look and me placing her in the makeshift nest. I am keeping my fingers crossed and praying until baby fledges. I wonder what I can now do to help besides keeping gf's cats inside for a few weeks.
