I can agree on that.. I like my 20s. 30s have a whole different vibe in itself, and at times it applies also, but I tend to lean towards 20s just because it’ll hold exactly one box of cartridges.
Really cool seeing a comparison between modern and old 20 rounders. I have a bunch of Brownells 20 rounders and some NHMTG 20 rounders. Wish I had some old Vietnam era mags just because. Thanks for sharing!
I’ve got 5 of these that are Vietnam era(or so I’m told). 2 Colt and 3 Universal. They all function flawlessly, the new and old. I know I mentioned the anti-tilt on the new ones, it doesn’t really matter on straight mags, but it did puzzle me as the old followers and the new one all seem to be exact.
Being on another continent, I was happy to get not used 2 x 20rd "Brownells" mags. Probably the best I could find here for an authentic look. The bonus from the seller is a 30rd "NHMTG" mag.
You can ask Brownells Techline why they use that particular follower on the 20 shot magazines. The answer I received was it is designed to reliably feed all types of 5.56/.223 ammunition from 45 grain to 77 grain bullet weights. I too have experienced no issues with the new production Brownells magazines. HTH
What’s your go-to polymer magazine? I’ve had good use from Mission First Tactical magazines. I know they’ve gotten a bad rap due to early models being able to bend open so much at the top that a fully loaded magazine will forcefully push its rounds out under the compression of the magazine spring. So far, none of mine have done that.
PMags are the only polymer I’ve ever used. I’ve got probably five 30 round and one 10 round in the Pmags. I don’t keep or have a whole lot of those, as I prefer aluminum GI style mags.. I’ve got a couple AWB era Centerpoint Industries, but mainly OKAY industries in those, with some Brownells and PSA ones mixed in.
