I just acquired a 1954 A5 20 gauge NIB I didn’t think I would ever find one I also have a 1913 light 12 and a very nice 1957 light 12 love these guns and always said if they still sold them new I would buy one and I got luck.
I inherited my dad’s A5. He bought it in the 60’s sometime. I think about 63. It’s not the lightweight but the standard. Still an amazing gun! I have always loved it.
What a beautiful A-5...amazing after 40 years you were able to find one NIB. Although tough to be sure, in the video when you pan over the right side barrel, it looks like you have a single * in front of the "Special Steel, etc". which would indicate it's a Full choke, rather than Modified....Either way, what a beautiful gun. I have a 1969 model, blond wood, like yours. Absolutely beautiful. Also have a much in demand 20 gauge from Japan in like new condition. Love that one too.
I guess most auto 5 buyers don’t realize that the quality went up after they moved to Japan. The metal used in the barrel of the fn models is much softer.
Got mine for just under $600. It's a standard 12 gauge model, and it was refurbished at one point before I got it, but it's still a Belgian Auto 5, and it works great. I chose to shorten the barrel on mine to 18.5 inches. It had a full choke 28 inch barrel. I seen others do it online and thought it was interesting. Don't plan on selling it so why not?
tccgrad1999 honestly the Japan light just isn’t the same after shooting both there is a big difference and when or if you sell it the Japan made will not be near the same price
I picked up one of these for a cheap shotgun and 80 bucks at a pawnshop it smells like an old harmonica. Its got the poly choke. And takes 2 3/4 inch 12ga. Made in Belgium. As of this comment,ive owned it for 3 hours.
My father in law have 2 of them. He got them from japan during his service. Dont reallt have alot of knowledge about this weapon. Start with why i can only load 3 instead of 4

Yes the gun is Belgian...but the magazine cap is not..its knurled 3 times around...Belgian caps have 2 only...it was replaced..go to artsgunshop.com...email or call him about it.he will confirm..he worked for browning..I have the same exact gun..its my dad's and was manufactured in 68...art still has Belgian caps...I recommend you get one since they are getting hard to find..he also has a youtube channel..enjoy your gun

I researched this and found numerous guns from 1970 and 1971 that had 3 knurls, so it looks like Browning transitioned to 3 rows before shifting the production to Japan.
