This Browns team was one of the worst NFL teams I have ever seen - it really is amazing that they won 2 games - both of the W's were on scores on the final play of games they trailed in - so they were 2 plays from 0-16 but I still think they were worse than the Browns team that eventually did go 0-16.

Sounds like Don Criqui doing the PBP there. One of my favorites from the past. As for this game, it pretty much sums up Ditka's time with the Saints. They were all hoping for greatness but it gets snatched away!

Looking back, Couch was a great Qb, the only problem was that the offensive line was terrible and he constantly got injured. Had they gotten a better line they could’ve won way more games.

A little context, this was the 'new' 1999 Browns as the original team left Cleveland after the 1995 season and this was their first victory for the team and city since coming back. Just in case you're wondering why they seem a little bit too excited about winning the game! 😄

And this is why over the years, through thick and thin, through it all, if you’re a TRUE Browns fan bleeding orange and brown you live every season for a moment like THAT. Our Browns may have had some awful times, but these lightning strikes are the ties that bind us forever to our team. I’m 59 years old, born in Cleveland, raised in Parma, watched on tv, listened on the radio, attended many games. GO BROWNS FOREVER.

I'll never forget this moment as long as I live. Watched it in slow motion back in the day. It was like having your heart slowly ripped out and stomped all over. The Saints in 1999 lost a bunch of games in the final 2 minutes. This is just the icing on the cake. The 49ers game is probably worse, where they would've got OT but Billy Joe Hobert threw a pick six to end it (after having what was possibly the best game of his career. Tops it off with a game sealing pick). There's also the Bears game where they gave up 14 points in the final 2 minutes. Someone could do a documentary on the 1999 Saints and all the close games they choked. Could probably also add games from 1997 and 1998 too.

I remember that year, it started off really good, opening kickoff at home the Panthers fumbled and we ran it back for a td. It was the highlight of that season.

MrSaints74 I remember too. Funny how we look back and kinda laugh about it. It was different times. If social media existed back then, we would've been the laughing stock team, literally! Ditka's antics would've went viral online.

But why the hell did Ditka call a timeout with 26 seconds still on the clock and a full play clock to burn? Run that down to 3 seconds and call the TO for the kick. Cripes

I was at that game! Same endzone, but opposite side. When I saw Johnson had the ball with two feet in the endzone, I went nuts! The wife and I decided to head to the river instead of the French Quarter. We spent too much time there Saturday night and missed our breakfast reservation at Brennan's. No matter, we had alligator while watching the ships. Great memories!!! "Who Dat?!"

It's just a rule in the game, if the touchdown caused a game to end in a tie, they wouldn't just negate the extra point because there was no time The team can also choose to knee the ball, ie Saints-Vikings three years ago
