Bruce has such a great back catalogue of solo material! Tyranny of Souls, Navigate the Seas of the Sun, Chemical Wedding all personal favorites! The Accident of Birth record in particular you will run across a ton of Adrian too. Bruce has referred to that record as “the record Iron Maiden never made.”

This last Wednesday I was diagnosed with mouth cancer. And I've always loved this song. And 3 months ago I lost a good friend to a car accident. And he and I loved this song. We saw Bruce 3 times on his first solo tour. And since my friends death n last Wednesday. I've found myself listening to this song daily. Thank you so much for this reaction. I needed it. Listen to the Bruce Dickinson albums Accident Of Birth, The Chemical Wedding, and Tyranny Of Souls. They are in my opinion just as amazing as Iron Maiden. Accident Of Birth and The Chemical Wedding albums even have Adrian Smith on guitar. In my opinion this is the best version of Tears Of The Dragon ever. The guitar player Roy Z is amazing.

This was far more emotional than I expected. I'm also dealing with liver disease and hearing the song in the context of this illness made me experience it in a totally different way. Wow. I didn't expect that.

The original version of this is amazing, but this live version with Tribuzy is something else. It's such a beautiful rendition of this song. Also, Bruce's solo music is fantastic. The Chemical Wedding, Accident of Birth, and Tyranny of Souls are fantastic albums with songs I'm always going back to, just as I would with Iron Maiden. You can tell he gave this performance everything. Never ran around. This IS the best version of this song. You need to dive into some of his solo stuff. ITS got a MUCH harder feel than maiden ( at least from 'Accident of Birth' and 'Chemical Wedding'. You need to listen to these ... Also I think you may like Tyrany of Souls.

I’m a die hard maiden fan. The albums chemical wedding and tyranny of souls go head to head with any maiden album. Accident of birth is in the B+ to A- maiden range. His solo career is rare because it stands up to his main career. His early solo stuff sounds like 90’s maiden. When Adrian joined him you heard an evolution that paved the way to modern maiden. Great reaction! The album version is very beautiful too, the solo is more clean and coherent whereas the live version is more shredding. Bruces Accident of Birth and The Chemical Wedding are both masterpiece heavy metal albums. I absolutely love them. His first three solo albums are not so metal... Blaze Bayley is another singer from Iron Maiden that has done excellent solo career albums. They contain great guitarwork, thoughtful lyrics and Blazes voice pierces my soul, it really cuts deep, can't help it. The guy got so much flak during his time in Maiden. His solo stuff is just something else, let me tell you. The problem is, there are no reactions at all to Blazes stuff. His song, At the End of the Day, makes me ponder the day I will draw my last breath.

The Chemical Wedding and The Accident of Birth albums are better than anything Maiden has released in over 30 years. Saw Bruce live in Tampere in -98 on The Chemical Wedding tour. Will never forget the whole venue very appropriately yelling "SATAN!" with Bruce when they played _Killing Floor_ .

Wolf had a point. I you look at Iron Maidens track listing you see that Bruce had very little to do with most of the song writing. Him going solo was probably so he can feel free to write what he wanted.

Did you guys ever do Bruce singing "Jerusalem" live with Jethro Tull?

In regard to Bruce's solo work, I enjoy it all, but most people focus on the last three (Accident of Birth, The Chemical Wedding, Tyranny of Souls) because they're the most metal, and closest to sounding like Maiden. Tattooed Millionaire is a bit more hard rock, Balls to Picasso is a bit more experimental, and Skunkworks is more in that 90s alt metal/rock vein. While they all have great songs, if you're expecting the Maiden sound out of those albums you might be disappointed. But they are all worth checking out, and once you can get past the fact that they sound different there's a lot of stuff to enjoy there.

Sadly the live and the studio are different, but honestly, both great! I am more of a fan of the studio version though

The Chemical Wedding album is better than most of Maiden albums in my opinion. Its pure timeless heavy metal. With Adrian which provides the familiar Maiden sounds. You should just listen to all of it.

I don't think you will like his first solo album "Tattooed Millionaire" at all, he did this after seventh son, while he was still with maiden, one of the songs frisky made it onto "no prayer for the dying" as well,... But I don't like "Being Your Daughter To the Slaughter" to felt much either. "Son Of A Gun" is the one great song on that album. I de the album version, I love the acoustic versions, I love the live version from the "Skunkworks" tour as well. But this version has something different to it. In this album they're are 3 or 4 gibt songs for example "gods of war". Skunkworks is VERY different to everything else he did. Many hate it because it's completely different from iron maiden, I still love that album. It's more alternative rock, and there are some great songs on it. But I'm quite positive you'll really dig the albums "accident of birth" and "chemical wedding". These albums siund like a heavier, more oden version of iron maiden.
