I have been waiting for ages for Maiden to quit to see Bruce live, but the last Maiden-show in Tallinn was so friggin awesome i can give them a year or two. But still, I want my solo-Bruce! And the quality of the albums... Latest Maiden-albums and Bruce's (& Roy Z's) solo work are not even comparable.
@Predrag Radović not every album, but at least 40-50% for sure... Not forgetting Accident Of Birth, which also was better than wie some maiden material... And it also sounded more like a modern version of iron maiden anyway 😎
Live in São Paulo... Bruce and Brazilians know how to interact with each other. He wouldn't have chosen São Paulo as the place for this live album if he didn't know us that well!
I was really bummed when he rejoined Iron Maiden. There I said it. Ηe reached Rainbow's "Rising" quality with "The Chemical Wedding", I don't know why, but these two albums have something in common, but I can't put my finger down to what it is exactly. Anyway, the reunion Maiden LP's were at best quite good, but not even comparable to this, sorry..
Eis aí o motivo pelo qual o Bruce voltou ao Maiden! Uma presença de palco e um envolvimento com a platéia que torna o show inesquecível! Além da voz, é claro!
There are twelve commandments There are twelve divisions Twelve are the pagans who have mapped the sky In the outer circle To the inner sanctum From the octave at the end of time The fountain, the trinity The pilgrim is searching for blood To look for his own free will The stone of infinity, washed in the flood Lovers in the tower The moon and sun divided And the hanged man smiles Lovers in the tower The moon and sun divided Let the fool decide In the atom circle Where we break the stars Hammer into anvil, stuffing out the sun Witness all the killing See the birth of Mars Our religion thrown into the fire The fountain, the trinity The pilgrim is searching for blood To look for his own free will The stone of infinity, washed in the flood Lovers in the tower The moon and sun divided The hanged man smiles Lovers in the tower The moon and sun divided The magician laughs Lovers in the tower The moon and sun divided And the priestess kneels Lovers in the tower The moon and sun divided Let the fool decide Lovers in the tower The moon and sun divided And the hanged man smiles Lovers in the tower The moon and sun divided Let the fool decide Lovers in the tower The moon and sun divided The priestess kneels to receive Lovers in the tower The moon and sun divided The magician laughs
This man is not human. If that was me, I would have thrown out my voice by the second word of his first go round of hyping the crowd. Seriously ungodly.
May be it is so mechanic and simple guitar solo for the others but according to me it is so hypnotic and awesome. The harmony between 2 guitars is fantastic.
The audio is sourced from Scream for me Brazil CD, where you have songs from two Sao Paulo gigs. There's a pro-shot bootleg of one Sao Paulo gig on Anthology DVD. So couple of songs match. If you put 'bruce dickinson the tower live' into search you can see the original video bootleg from that DVD, and the difference in sound. The live CD is produced like a live release, bootleg is pure soundboard with very thin guitars.
zb10948 thanks... I have all of Bruce's normally released albums, and this is one of my favourite songs of so many! Didn't know there was a Bootleg though because I have never been lucky or determined enough to get into them. Thanks for the info.
Apart from this 'official' bootleg, there are pro-shot vids that have three songs at Curitiba and two songs at Cologne. You can find both boots on YT. Also from the prior (Accident of Birth) tour you have full Sao Paulo MTV broadcasted gig, easy to find on YT, and full Santiago gig available on my channel. From the pro recorded audio only boots you have Hilversum acoustic sessions, 4 songs, and Jerusalem that didn't make it to Scream for me Brazil CD. Cheers.
No, this is post Maiden, Smith and Dickinson were roughly back in late 1998, regardless of the news being put in early 1999. Bruce still had a commitment to South American leg of the Chemical Wedding tour.
Heh this question gets posted a lot. Nope, Roy wasn't filtered out but the band did not direct this video - this is video wall feed mixed by venue's video guy shot with venue cameras. I presume they didn't have enough cameras and kept focus on center and stage left where Bruce and Adrian are located. Roy is visible on other songs on this bootleg video which is available on Anthology DVD. Bruce Dickinson band 1997-1999 did not shoot any official live videos, everything you can see from that period are bootlegs. Two best additional live bootlegs are Sao Paulo and Santiago 1997. There you can also see that Roy isn't much "featured". I believe the TV cameras at those gigs are focusing on Bruce and Adrian as biggest names, Eddie is running around, but Roy is most stationary stage right and doesn't catch camera's eye too much. So, lack of Roy in all videos is due to other people controlling the video direction. If it was band official live, they'd ensure everyone has enough screen time. Hope this clears things out.
A great song, great performance, but both camera work and original editing in the bridge was just fucking terrible. As if they wanted to deliberately annoy the audience; "Har har, didn't seee this live did you? Well good luck seeing anything through THIS wobble! Hahaha!".
It isn't edited by the band, this is already mixed video feed that went on the venue video walls, sourced from venue cameras. So the site operator did the mixing. Unfortunately Dickinson never received the raw camera feeds, only the bounced output, e.g. the exact thing that people saw on video screen in concert, together with the soundboard stereo feed. It landed on Best Of DVD as is. I used CD audio track, that sounds better than raw soundboard (Roy Z remastered it from separate tracks for Scream for me Brazil), and mixed it with the video. Hope this clears the origin of this video.
