As this song goes on it keeps getting better and better. then when you think you have heard the best part, another perfect solo comes over and then a change , and then a riff.. oh my God, Steve Harris deserves an Oscar, a Novel prize and a Gold medal for this one.
My wife and I saw IRON MAIDEN the day after my 61st birthday August 24th 2019...That night I wasn't 61...I was 16 again...Keep Rockin' IRON MAIDEN!!! Oh My name Is David, I'm on Vickie's page!
Honestly, there´s no other band that creates music, riffs, solos, guitar harmonies and lyrics like Maiden.....theese guys got it all: talent, soul, desire and the gift of creating music from beyond the boundries of music.....it´s not even music anymore, it´s immortal magic....
70k people inside the arena, around 5k outside(Yeah there were a lot of people outside enjoying the evening) and 1.8 million people watched it on the television. Almost 1/5th of the population of Sweden watched Iron Maiden that night. Tell me one other nation so heavily dedicated to an international heavy metal band?
Bruce is always so passionate about connecting with the audience. What a memorable and emotional experience this must have been for the fans. These guys are truly legends who have always been in it for the music and fans...and it shows.
For their style of music yes they are the best in the world but as for other styles of metal and other bands there are a lot of great performers out there you got to give kudos do a lot of bands that are really good live like obituary King Diamond Mercyful Fate I seen them they were awesome old ACDC with Bon Scott old Judas Priest Old Black Sabbath and the late great Ronnie James Dio put all a hell of a show
@@mirak63 It's good, but not that good, maybe in your opinion.. btw best song doesn't exist, you can only say one of the best if you like something a lot
Fui assistir o Maiden agora em 2022, não consigo acreditar ainda. Adoro ver esses vídeos antigos e os mais recentes também é muito bom sentir essa energia e respeito da banda e das pessoas que curtem.
bruce dickinson=best voise ever steve harris=best bass ever dave murray, janick gers, adrian smith=best guitar ever IRON MAIDEN=BEST BAND EVER UP THE IRONS
8:00- to the end of the song. Personal lil’ opinion from a classically trained pianist, truly excellent technique and counterpoint. I always wondered why I liked heavy metal. It’s the counterpoint.
Iron Maiden consegue fazer o sangue da gente ferver. A adrenalina vai lá nas alturas. É a mesma sensação de quando se faz amor. É de um arrepio impressionante.....Amo eles🥰
"You're a very lively crowd this evening, Sweden! It's good to be in one of the greatest rock n roll nations in the entire world right here tonight. This is no bullshit. Tonight is a really special night for us and we would like to play a very very special song which we haven't played for many many year. It's a song which - I was in a band a long time ago, before I was in Iron Maiden, there was the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, sometime before you were born. Anyway... embarrassingly... I was in a band called Samson and Iron Maiden, Iron Maiden was our support band one evening. Well, they blew us offstage and they played this one song and I'd never heard a metal band play a song like this before and this song really is everything that Iron Maiden is all about. I know that you understand it because you are the hardcore of Iron Maiden fans in all of Sweden. But I should warn anyone watching the television that thinks that any minute now they're going to turn over and Wimbledon is going to be on, or football that for the next eight minutes there may be something very strange going on with your television. And if you don't like heavy metal, I advise you to go away before you have a heart attack and die, alright? ...THE PHANTOM. OF. THE OPERAAAA!"
Michael Holmgaard oh yeah - and Davey’s solo in the middle breakdown after the harmonies at 7:48 He took his original studio solo and by far outdid himself 10 fold by replacing some okay parts and leaving in the really good phrases equating to a solo masterpiece.
@@michaelseay9783 I couldn't have said that better myself Dave Murray and Adrian Smith guitar Legends and the bass player God of them all Steve Harris you can't get better than those three the other guitars is okay but I think they could really do better with him we don't get me wrong he is a good guitarist but when Indian says came back if you have another band to go to to just give him the boot he's okay but they really don't need him
@@billcummins5801 don´t really need him ?? To make Janick a member was the best thing they ever could have done. His guitar playing, his incredible performances but most of all, his songwriting...........You wouldn´t miss Dance of Death, Ghost of the Navigator, Talisman, Book of Souls, Dream Mirrors, Mont´segur, Lord of the Flies, Alchemist, Legacy and SO on and SO forth ??? Please he´s written so many more songs, he´s fantastic slow, soft intros and outros mainly on accoustic guitar, his sprawling, brooding progressive songs...............and you wouldn´t even miss him ???
@@susannewilliamsson8339 completely agree, Janick is a genius especially composing, the legacy, the pilgrim, dance of death are masterpieces, and his technique is very clean
To even think, that Iron Maiden produced such an immortal classic back in 1976 just makes me go crazy!!! Steve Harris and co are maestros in every sense of the word
@@susannewilliamsson8339 it wasn't because of an illness they let him go...it was because he had become unreliable. He couldn't continue touring at the pace that iron maiden was touring, he developed MS may years after leaving the band...the band helped him with his charity and i think made a charity in His name to....
@@revan_alva2077 I´m sorry for my missunderstanding, I really thought his illness was to blame.....but you are ever so right, his drumming was quite incredible.
He visto a Maiden 8 veces en vivo (2001, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2016 y 2019) y espero ansioso la próxima. Solo lamento que la gira de AMOLAD no vino a Chile.
NO other band produces theese magical, iconic songs, slow soft intros and outros, thought provocative lyrics, thunderous drums, driven bass lines, pure genius guitar harmonies, solos and riffs.........not even mentioning the Godgiven voice of Bruce or their hypnotizing performances like Maiden.......NO ONE...
@@jaquelinerocha2586 and they´re still holding their audiences in a trance .....I saw them in Chile october 15th and believe me they were incredible !! They have been touring for a long time you know and on stage.....they could be thirty...
the first maiden album I ever heard was live after death...I just loved the cover art, and when I heard it I was only 15...I pushed play on my cassette deck, and holy fuck was I ever amazed at the pure genius of these songs...the structure, the harmonies, the tone, the subject matter...then I heard seventh son afterwards...also digging the cover art...once I heard that album, I knew I had discovered the best metal band in existence...and to this day, no one comes even close to their sound, their energy, and stage presence...I mean what I discovered when I was 15 was pure fucking magic...long live this incredible band!!! the best song I've ever heard live would be the rime of the ancient mariner. I bet millions of fans would attest to that. #uptheirons
Christmas 1987 l was 13 ,my mother bought me IRON MAIDENS live after death concert cassette, and I was blown away, I listened to that tape for 10 years until I wore it out ,then I bought the remastered collection on CD. Bruce singing Phantom of the Opera live is my favorite version of the song. Love all their albums up the IRONS!!
"Oh my friends, it's good to see you - everywhere. Send this fucking message out - across the airwaves: We're Iron fucking Maiden and we are going to come and fucking get you, wherever you are." The absolutely ultimate power statement that resonates to this day.
IRON MAIDEN ITS MY LIFE AND THE - PHANTOM OF THE OPERA- ON OF THE BEST SONGS OF ALL THE TIME .... UP THE IRONS .... MAIDEN, DONT FORGET THE GREEK FANS !!!
Thank you Iron Maiden, for being there throughout my childhood, my teenage years and now my 30's. I feel like you are a part of who I am. In a strange way, I don't think I'd be the same person I am today if I had not discovered you guys when I was 6 years old. I love Iron Maiden.
from 7:00 -- The POWER of that change from 12/8 to the IRON MAIDEN GALLOP - fuck me!!!!!!!! Even the band still FEELS it, as most of them start jumping on the spot to it.
Both of my parents where metal heads. I grew up around this kind of music. I came out of my mom banging my head. I'm 21 now, and I still NEVER get tired of hearing Iron Maiden.
@@mkaleborn where is the show going to be in September I heard it just going to be one in LA and I'm trying to find out where they are going to perform because I would love to see Iron Maiden that would be the shit I had a chance to see the Somewhere in Time to her up before I could get a ticket they sold out and that was in Corpus Christi Texas man I was fucking pissed off it was the loudest show they ever did so I guess a lot of people came out of that show probably tone deaf
This gig, the 2001 Rock un Rio, Live after Death at Long Beach Arena and Maiden England at Birmingham are my favorite shows. I can watch them all my life and I won’t get tired of it
honestly this is one of the best rock pieces ever , hey maiden fans ,there are many young fingers out there loving it ,practicing it day and night lets support the next generation , check out Melody sky with Phantom of the Opera cover , cheers
Theese guys haven´t only set the bar for metal music and performances......they ARE the bar...and NO ONE else even comes close to this Legendary band.....
Man, the first time my friend send me some tunes from these guys. I think it was Rainmaker and Fear Of The Dark. I was blown away, I didn't even realise I had clicked replay over and over and over and over and over again. Then I bought my first albums (Brave New World and Live At Donington). I used to listen to pop and rap before this but when I heard this, when I bought the albums, it was like 18 months that I listened to Maiden only. Nothing else was in my mp3. UP THE IRONS l..l
EXPLOSIVE masterpiece....THIS is how metal music SHOULD sound like....and how to perform it.....the true metal ICONS Iron Maiden shows us once again their legendary brilliance and supremecy..............SUPERB..
My father is a huge fan of hard rock(led zeppelin, Zappa, Pink Floyd, Genesis, and more) and when I have 8 years old, he show me this band (he doesn't like hit specially) with this song, with this video, and I begin my metal-ascension, When I have 15 years old I discover so many style of metal, my favorite the Nu metal, the death metal and the metalcore, but I forget Iron Maiden Now I have 18 years old, my favorite band is KoRn, Slipknot, Arch Ennemy, Rammstein, Ghost and Parkway drive And now, this hour I re-discover Iron Maiden, and I cry ! I mother fucking Cry !!! It's so beautifull, they are the gods of metal, everything is amazing, at this moment my favorite band is Iron Maiden definitely... I want to say, thank you Iron Maiden, the world is better with your band
I grew up listening to electronic and indy music mostly so never knew much about Iron Maiden.....but the more I listen to them and watch their videos I can see how good they were and are. Its like metal, theater and showmanship all mixed together. 👏👏👏
An EXPLOSIV masterpiece, a shining jewel in their dicography in its own right, and THIS is the only proof you need if ANYONE ever left a legacy it will be the true metal ICONS Iron Maiden, comparable to none !!
@@jaquelinerocha2586 they are, every single one of them !! I´ve got tickets for two shows this year but unfortunately I have a feeling both of them will be cancelled......what could we do ?? But I still prefer to have them around for as long as possible ....
@@susannewilliamsson8339 I also intended to enjoy them in Europe this year, but I also have the same feeling that you have about the shows. Unfortunately, reality imposes itself that way. Stay safe! Stay at home!
@@susannewilliamsson8339 Children of the Beast, Brazilian Iron Maiden cover, will perform live on May 2nd, which I believe should be broadcast on their RU-vid channel. These guys have done a great work presenting Maiden's eternal songs to new and old fans, spreading the immortal magic of this band that we love so much.
I´ve already seen some of their material and you´r absolutely right, they are brilliant. But where will they perform it live, it must be at home surely......I´ll be watching it....stay safe.

Once again Maiden presents one of their Eternal Masterpieces, they are supreme in every note, every move....Maiden undisputed masters of their craft, and they will hold the throne forever......
I agree, I prefer Paul on the early stuff but Bruce sounds great here he's not screaming unnecessarily, it sounds better for the early stuff, screaming wailing is fine for the Bruce stuff., just not really for the Paul stuff.
Theese guys performing so wild, furious and passionate makes your skin crawl....their phenomenal music and brilliant lyrics enters your heart and soul just like a tornado.....the one and only band I couldn´t live without !!!
this was the first song of Iron Maiden i heard and second day I bought their shirt , and Im still wearing it with proud ! Up The Irons ! \m/ Long Life Heavy Metaal !
So here I come, 57 years old and still listening this music , I was just a kid when I saw their show in Milan (Italy), the big Eddy robot on stage and all these amazing songs. Ah the 80, unforgettable times
Call from Australia! Saw Iron Maiden at Bruce Stadium. Saw them at Canberra Theatre. Between times always played this song original and live. Forward many years. Now found this version. My son was pulling it out on his aucoustic guitar this same week. Heard him play it on electric when he was younger. He fell in love with rock a few years ago. Fell in love with his guitar. My Dad has got the vinyl single to this song, and it came with a free christmas card. After the concert at which he got the single, he met maiden and they signed that card!! I just cannot stop looking at that bit of paper!
