Bruce Hornsby's earlier work with his group "The Range" will be some of the BEST piano playing you will EVER hear - "The Way it Is," "Mandolin Rain," "Every Little Kiss," "The Valley Road," "The Show Goes On."

It's never too late to begin learning to play an instrument. I've been playing guitar for over 50 years but I have heard of people beginning piano later in life. You would never regret it.

The song "The end of the innocence" was written by Hornsby together with Don Henley, drummer and vocalist of Eagles

Watching you two truly appreciate what you are hearing (and seeing) is a delight for so many of us old-timers! Once you hear Bruce's beautiful chords and way of improvising you will always recognize him when you hear one of his songs! It will be a joy for you forever!

The underlying theme of this song is political. It was written in the aftermath of the Reagan administration. I highly recommend you listen to Hornsby's, "The way it is."

This is a new arrangement/interpretation for this song. This recording i believe was in Newport News maybe a month Ago. Bruce is my neighbor and he and Kathy are terrific people.

Bruce is from my neck of the woods in Virginia. Such a great writer and magnificent pianist. His voice isn’t quite what it once was, but that happens when we age. Still a beautiful performer

Why don't you open up a Don Henley club with all the guys with the same opinion? Also, the part of the "version" you refer to is obviously the voice and it is ok to have that preference and/or to state that Bruce's singing capabilites have diminished over the years. But the piano part is clearly all Bruce so I wonder how well the song would have done without the music.

Hey, you two. Once again, I am glad you liked my suggestion. I chose this longer one cause it shows off Bruce's mastery of his chosen instrument, perfect for piano aficionados like Dominika. As suggested here, you should check out "The way it is", a song of a very famous album with which Bruce broke onto the scene in the 80s. Tupac sampled that very song and called it "Changes", so many people wrongly think it was his creation. To me he simply kinda copied the riff and added his own lyrics. And in my opinion added nothing that Bruce hasn't already said or done. BTW, I made another request for a song by Hall and Oates, but stupidly enough completely forgot to include the name and link for it. It is "Me and Mrs. Jones" on ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m3xt_bKJ3DY.html. Just to be safe I also included it in the request I made directly after it (for Tori Amos and "Me and a gun"). Hope this doesn't get too confusing;)

This is a good stepping stone towards Grateful Dead. Bruce played more than 100 shows with them. A good place to start would be anything from their 1990 live release Without A Net.

One of my favorites songs of the 80’s Prefer Henley’s version only because he had a stronger voice and the arrangement has smoother flow imo. But I LOVE Hornsby’s work.

Don Henley's version is way better vocally but that's Don Henley :) Bruce Hornsby's version musically is incredible. Hope you can listen to Don Henley's version on your own as he doesn't let people react to his songs, sadly.

What happened to his voice? Don Henley sings his lyrics much better, although Hornsby's piano structure is pretty great. He goes from the universal personal in the first verse talking about his father leaving, (since daddy had to fly,) to the political, (written during Reagan's presidency,) about how the President lied, ('this tired old man that we elected King",) to the third verse where he makes it very personal imploring the woman to make love to him. The Don Henley album with The End of the Innocence is full of absolutely brilliant songs.

@@musashimiyamoto586 I'm not being unkind or overly critical, just stating an opinion. Why are you taking this so personally? Chill out, man. I know they co-wrote the song and it's a wonderful song. It's just much easier to hear the brilliance of the lyrics listening to the original version. And there are plenty of artist out there who still sound great older than Hornsby. It's not the high notes - he never had that kind of range - he just sounds very uncertain and seems to have a bit of a rattle. I'm not trying to be critical, I really want to know if he's alright.

@@musashimiyamoto586 Yes, absolutely, if they react to a video of Don Henley singing now and his voice sounds terrible, I'll point that out, too. Is it only the reactors who are allowed to have an opinion around here? That's all it is, an opinion. As I said before, chill, man.

As to my knowledge there is no studio version of this particular performance (if I am wrong please let me know), unless you are talking about separate productions of End of the Innocence, Song A and Sun Bear Theme. So you want to tell those two how to do their reactions? Seems a foolish request. Here is one from me. If you realize a reactor has violated your law and not listened to the studio version first, don't comment, just stick with reactors who do and everybody is happy.

So I grew up 30 minutes from Bruce’s home town of Williamsburg VA. I saw him several times over the years, once at his home where he hosted a political fundraiser. As talented as he is he is even a better human being. Singularly unique as a musical genius and yet all heart and a down home guy. If you have not reacted to his most well known song, please consider listening to “The Way It Is” ❤

DEAR REACTORS: Here's a tip. Listen to the WHOLE SONG. Only THEN, after you've absorbed the whole thing, go into analysis mode. It's incredibly annoying when you get to a crescendo or climax, and you stop the music, and start intellectualizing. DO YOU DO THIS WHEN YOU'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF HAVING SEX?! FEEL THE MUSIC! THEN react to it.
@musashimiyamoto586
@musashimiyamoto586 4 месяца назад
Calm down there, will you? Those two have their own way of doing reactions and it is their prerogative, not yours. What's more, it was a very long song, so they are well within their rights to have a stop or two. And finally, I know very few reactors who let the song play out and then react. So it seems you are out of luck when it comes to choice. Maybe focus on having uninterrupted sex instead? That might also cure your annoyance which you rather childishly express in caps.
@jonathanbrunk7847
@jonathanbrunk7847 3 месяца назад
Just as a heads up, the reason why most reactors do this is because it makes the video less vulnerable to a copyright strike. The algorithms that look for copyright infractions seem to catch the music less often when it's split up in at least one spot.
@musashimiyamoto586
@musashimiyamoto586 3 месяца назад
I see you deleted your post from earlier and put it at the top so everybody can see it. And again, you bravely took it upon yourself to tell people how to do their reactions. And you are using caps to express your "constructive criticism", too. Which doesn't sound condescending at all. Well Kevin Polito, polite-o you are surely not. Here is a tip from me. Do your own reactions and see if you get through most of the songs without stoppping in order to avoid copyright issues as jonathanbrunk was saying. And until then, you are welcome to avoid these two particular reactors who quite a few people happen to like.
