Photographer Bruce Roberts has been observing North Carolina since he first arrived here in the 1950s. His work has been published in newspapers and magazines all over the country. A pioneer in the use of 35 mm cameras and natural light, Bruce has captured candid images of real North Carolinians, preserving the story of civil rights in the 1960s and the rural health initiatives in the 1970s. He also shot Elvis Presley before he was famous.
