We were privileged to visit Bruce Russell & Son when our ship docked in St. Peter Port in June. I was so happy to meet Bruce after watching his videos on RU-vid! He is a true artist and magician with silver! We were also fortunate to find Simon in the shop and learned of his passion for creation of fine jewelry. My new favorite pendant is my silver heart created in the shop and designed by joining two cup handles. Was also surprised to find my favorite Caribbean mineral (Larimar) set in a silver pendant, too! And, had to bring home two pairs of gold hoop earrings, of course! If you are lucky enough to visit Guernsey, make sure you visit Bruce Russell & Son!
This was a wonderful video! I’m only a year in working with silver, but am taking a class late in summer on raising cups and bowls. Thanks for making this.
Bruce, you just picked up a new subscriber! I would LOVE to learn how to do what you do. It's truly a privilege to watch you work, and we appreciate it.
those goblets are very cool my friend that's what I'm going to start doing being a silversmith no where is good as you but I will get there one day cheers my friend Happy holidays to you great video
thank you so much for these lovely and fascinating videos. it's a treat to watch such a craftsman at work. I'm an intermediate silversmith doing mostly jewelry but would love to try some larger pieces. I would love to learn/know more about which flux you're using and why you do (or don't?) use pickle? it would also be great to see how you deal with applying solder to these large pieces . . . so many questions. with thanks. dede wilder
Thanks for all your kind comments.. I will post some more videos but the last 18 months I have been very busy working on large commissions that are to long to show on you tube All the very best Bruce
Hello Sir, I would like to tell you just how much I enjoyed you video and that you are a true artist with incredible patience. I'm surprised that you didn't use a motorized planishing hammer.....which I think is awsome. And I noticed you spared no expense on it either. I would like to know what 1 of these well what 6 of them would cost? Thank you again for your video.
Where do you get Silver sheet, and how does Silver compare to regular Galvanized Sheet Metal, Copper, and Aluminum? As in, how it is able to be worked. Can you make practice pieces out of galvanized (or other metal), before actually using $ilver?
Hi,is it possible that you do a video of you making a raised object, right from the beginning from the flat sheet? I want to learn these skills, but am having great difficulty finding a course or someone to show whats needed and describing it as you go. Thanks if you can if that...or point me in the right direction.
