Hi Maggie. Bruce is a treasure. Yes, Matt enjoyed that for sure But the women he attacked didn't much enjoy him locking the door behind them in his office.
Beautiful place! I´m from Brazil -São Paulo city , here there isn´t places so calm like Asbury Park. Thanks Bruce to give us the opportunity to see your Hometown New Jersey.
I remember an interview in which he said that he and Patti moved back to NJ so they could raise the kids w/out the paparazzi in LA. He said he wanted his kids to walk the beaches he walked and to be able to walk down Main St on Cruise Night with Evan on his shoulders, another in the Snugli and one in the stroller with people just saying, "Hey, Bruce!" Looks like he got that...
I've live in Asbury all my life .. Theres no place like it in the world.. . and I've been everywhere . Really unique.. Viva la Asbury!!!!! Love Springsteen!!!!
loved it! Just visited Asbury Park with my oldest daughter after leaving there back in 1978..and still .haven't made it back home to NC yet from our trip. I've missed Asbury but didn't realize how much until I was there again after such a long time. Brought my youngest son who's 19 with us to show him what Asbury Park was all about....He loved it too. Finally got to see for himself why I've talked so much about it. Great time!
It was so good of Bruce to promote Asbury's struggling downtown. Unfortunately, Sonny's closed down several years later. the town itself, though has burgeoned.
5th Avenue Tavern. I played for its softball team that won the city championship in 1986 or 87. Used to hang out there after games. Not sure if Bob, our team sponsor, is still the owner. Good times and memories.
Bruce Springsteen giving Matt Lauer a tour around Asbury Park only three years ago.... Maybe they should do an update on how the city is progressing. Very nice!
The area around the beach and the shops east of the tracks are doing well. The west side that Bruce talked about, not so much. It doesn't seem like it was taken along for the ride. Although still some very nice old homes near the high school.
