Today's my last day in school. And when I wrote a goodbye letter to my favorite teacher, I couldn't think of a way to finish it that would describe how much I was going to miss him. And the only thing I could say was this song, as from the lines: "If you do, you'll know I'm thinking of you, and all the miles in between..." Because that's what Bruce does. He takes feelings that you don't know how to express, and writes them down word by word. Like no one else. And we all owe him thanks for that.
The reason The Boss puts on such a great show has less to do with his musical ability and singing, and has everything to do with the joy and love that goes into every performance. The guys have a blast on stage, and the audience gets to come to the party. We'll all miss Clarence, who was the soul of E-Street. Rest in peace, dude.
you guys, i'm 19 years old... but i was raised listening to this... the MAGIC of this song, the imagery, that girl that you all know... summer nights turn to separation by time... and you look back and you think about her... hopeing everything is wonderful... but you miss those times... that is effing MAGIC!
Bruce's lyrics on this song are truly great and moving and complimented so well by The Big Man's Sax solo at the end. I love Clarence's sax solos on any Bruce song, but this is by far my favorite...
I can close my eyes and remember August 9th 1985 Bruce Springsteen Concert Tour, Soldier Field, Chicago....My girlfriend and I listening to this song and so many more. This song is from the sound track that is my life.
@RutgersJRS ALWAYS - I love this man too for over 30 years now - I cannot get enough of him ever - this always gives me that sadness but so do so many other songs of his if you think about it.
Awwwww. This is my favourite song of ALL TIME and wouldn't be half as great as it is without The Big Man's contribution. So bummed out that he he's gone. :(
Every once in a while you hear a song that's complexity is so wrapped up in it's simplicity that it sticks with you forever. This is one of those songs. Everytime I hear it I feel a twinge of pain, for no one in particular and yet for all my lost loves in a way. Great song.
"Just to say I miss you babe, Good Luck, Good Bye"... to all my friends in high school. We probably will not ever see each other again, but I Loved the times we spent together...I'll miss you... Best of Luck!!!
