My son is 20 years old now, he’s moved out and got away to college. After my marriage to his mother broke up when he was little, having him as my road companion literally saved my life. We take these long road trips across the country, leaving California, across Arizona, through the beautiful New Mexico desert and along the southern plains into Oklahoma. It was such a broken hearted time for me, and his cheerfulness and spirit was such a great boon for my soul. A month or so after he moved away, I was driving around in my truck and this song came on, and that time came flooding back to me. I started crying so hard I had to pull over. Though I’ve been a lifelong fan and so many of his songs have meant so much to me, if I ever met Bruce, that’s the story I would tell him. I think it would please him.
I'm totally blown away by this album. At a time of life when most artist's mojo has long since deserted them he comes up with this magnum opus. There really is only one Boss.
I love everything he produces, but this song and album might be the best. A highly underrated voice has its day and, when combined with the orchestra, is simply stunning. I can't stop listening to this album...I might even tear up at times....
Best album I've heard in years and definitely in Springsteen 's top 3. Amazing to be able to produce such quality at the later stage of a career. Hard to pick a favourite. Depends on the day of the week. Love the country steel guitar on this.
@@fergalmurphy8188 The songs were all written several years before the album was released in 2019...most of the songs were written around 2012-2013. But I agree with your general point, it's still the later part of his career.
@@fergalmurphy8188 Just local friends and neighbours I understand. Regarding Western Stars, Bruce intended to release it back in 2012, but then he decided to concentrate on Wrecking Ball and the autobiography. The album was put on hold till he decided the time was right to release it last year. It was certainly worth the wait.
@@johnnyM809 Now knowing that the album was 'cocooning' for a number of years puts it in a different perspective for me now. Maybe a little disappointed that it's not as new as I thought. Johnny thank you for the information. By the way I think 'Somewhere North of Nashville' is a very Dylanesque style song.
One of the best this world will ever see. So unique.. I love that Bruce sticks to what he does best, and doesn't try to change his image and sound to please the latest trend. Love Bruce so much, and am so, so, so grateful that he is still gifting us with such beautiful music.
That moment when the orchestral strings join in, literally makes my skin break out with goosebumps. Sheer ethereal beauty for the ears and soul. Thank you Mr Springsteen for giving so many of us, so much pleasure over so many years.
Christmas is no Christmas without a family let's share just want it to go roll on January new start new year one thing I dread is Christmas just wish there wasn't one
This CD was given to me as my dad's gift for when I turned 13 in 2019. What can I say about me? Born in 2006, with an IQ of 140 and Asperger Syndrome. With a mental age of 40-42, it's hard for me to make up friends. So I have only one consolation: Vintage Vehicles. It's in them that I find my force to go on. It's in how their iron whispers of wide roads, brutal wars, mild summer evenings and long trips, that I find my best feeling, even suffering of being without a girlfriend. I don't know if there'll be a girl by my side, but I guess soon I will take my 1949 Chevrolet Convertible and will ride away towards the sun, chasing my dreams, chasing those wild horses
i ve been raving about this album to anyone who'll listen, the shocking thing many people don't like Springsteen, scratching my head, this guy has been consistently great thru his career, and many of these critics are from NY or NJ
"Chasin' Wild Horses" Guess it was somethin' I shouldn't have done Guess I regret it now Ever since I was a kid Tryin' to keep my temper down is like Chasin' wild horses, chasin' wild horses Chasin' wild horses Left my home, left my friends I didn't say goodbye I contract out to the BLM Up on the Montana line Chasin' wild horses, chasin' wild horses We're out before sunup In after sundown There's two men in the chopper Two under saddle on the ground In the evenings we'd hop in the pickup Head into town for a drink Make sure I work 'til I'm so damn tired Way too tired to think You lose track of time It's all just storms blowin' through You come rollin' 'cross my mind Your hair flashin' in the blue Like wild horses, just like wild horses Just like wild horses Fingernail moon in a twilight sky Ridin' high grass of the switchback I shout your name into the canyon The echo throws it back The winter snow whites out the plains 'Til it can turn me blind The only thing up here I've found Is tryin' to get you off my mind Chasin' wild horses, chasin' wild horses Chasin' wild horses, chasin' wild horses
Went into store and heard this song playing - didn't leave until I had CD in my hand. Amazing - Bruce;s amazing vocals along with the fantastic orchestral
This taps into the rhythm of my heartbeat and heals it while at the same time shattering it into pieces that cannot be put together except by another song, mixture of word and rhyme. God I’m happy to be alive to experience this!
For some reason this has just been in my head for days. When I first heard this album I thought how Bruce just keeps making some of the best music by anyone.
Many of us can relate to this song, this life, and so it is beautiful. Thank you Bruce.. Those who love it might like to read the beautiful book by Anna Sewell, "Black Beauty."

Un album pour rouler des kilomètres dans de superbes paysages, sans risquer de rencontrer un highway patrolman ou des used cars au détour d'une ville abandonnée !
