I saw him in ‘73 at MSG. Chicago with special guest Bruce Springsteen. The crowd booed or just didn’t care but wound up cheering. I became a Bruce fan in 8th grade!

My first Bruce “moment “ was recording Passaic 1978 on my home 8 track. We all know the amazing core of that show, but song #3, Sprits, just caught my heart, and for 45 years has just held a special place for me. This version is even better

There are endless examples of great popular music that were produced in the 1940s, 50s, 60s and 70s. Mozarts Don Giovanni is a form of popular music. It has been packing the opera house for over 230 years. Just because it stinks today doesn’t mean it always has.

I'm in my fiat 124 spider, going over 17 to Santa Cruz. It's 1978 and 4th of July to see the fireworks with 2 coeds accompanying me, (my security). Partying on the beach. Waking up, Walking up to the highway to get in the car and head back to San Jose. When your young it's like a super power. There's always tonight for adventure!

Doesn’t get any better, love this era of Bruce and his music. Everyone young, lean and hungry just trying to make the show. Love Bruce and almost all of his music but this was the best of times. Wishing for a time machine now!

This is available on dvd on the Born To Run 30th anniversary box set that was released in 2005. The box consisted of a remaster of BTR, dvd of Bruce & E-Street in Hammermith, London and 3 videos from 1973.

So true. What an era, the gamut from Elvis, Johnny Cash, Hendrix, Allmans, Clapton, the Stones, this guy, so many one hit wonders from the 70s, Steely Dan, U2, Dire Straits, I could go on forever. My kids (23 y/o) make me listen to current stuff, and happy to say there’s still good music being created. I refuse to be the “there will never be good music again” guy. But for me, this era will always be magical.
