From the pop culture and pro wrestling archives of Ripper the Clown: a very rare shoot interview with Frank Goodish aka Bruiser Brody. (Note: The first 20 seconds and the last 20 seconds have shaky quality and the audio is out of sync; don't let this deter you as the bulk of the footage is really good.)
This is really rare footage of Bruiser Brody--the wrestler who was hardcore decades before ECW! I am unsure of the year, but there are two clues in the interview itself. Brody indicates that he is 37 years old; Brody was murdered at 42--which means this footage would have been filmed in or around 1983. YET at the same time, Brody also mentions being in the business 15 years--which means this footage would have been filmed sometime in 1988. So this is kind of a mystery. BUT considering the gray in Brody's beard, I'm guessing that, in fact, the footage is from 1988--and perhaps, for whatever reason, Brody fudged on his age.
There is a reason why Brody was known as "The Intelligent Monster."The interview is interesting because it's probably the only interview of this kind with Brody, and it's probably the earliest shoot interview in existence ... even though, early on, Brody is obviously protecting kayfabe regarding his real name and his work as producer at World Class Championship Wrestling in Texas. And ironically, the journalist conducting the interview asks Brody if the pain and physical sacrifice of the wrestling business will be worth it when he is 60 or 70 years old--an ironic question because Brody would never reach that age--murdered in Puerto Rico at age 42 by the Jose Gonzales aka Invader #1. Brody also predicts that he will have 10 years left in wrestling--again, a prediction that would sadly never see fruition. We would never get to see Brody in the WWF against Hulk Hogan, Jake The Snake Roberts or Macho Man Randy Savage.
