The Brunel Museum tells the story of the the Thames Tunnel, the world’s first successful tunnel under a river.
We celebrate the engineering triumph of the Brunel family - father Marc Brunel who designed the world’s frits shield driven tunnel. His son Isambard Kingdom Brunel who later became one of Britain’s most famous engineer who first learnt his engineering skills working on the Thames Tunnel.
At the Brunel Museum, we think that learning should be open for all, regardless of background.
But here in Southwark, where the Museum is, we work with some of the most disadvantaged children in the country. The ongoing cost of living crisis has forced some families to choose between heating and eating - let alone being able to take their children to Museums and on days out.
With your help, we’ll be able to provide free activities for families who most need it over the Easter holidays
Between 19 and 26 March we’re taking part in the Big Give campaign. This means that every donation from you in that week will help to unlock support from big Give Champions. This means that every £1 you donate will be doubled.
We need your help to raise £2, 500 to be able to unlock that match funding to create a whopping £5000.
That £5000 will mean we can offer free activities for local families. From designing kaleidescopes like Marc Brunel or brilliant boats like the SS Great Eastern, families will have the opportunity to take part in amazing learning experiences.
