Loved fighting grass fires when I was working. The bailout tool is si simple an amazing. Bailout for us when jumping or screaming for a ladder to the window. It’s great that equipment and knowledge is really progressing greatly. Great job. Keep these videos coming.
Ah, the tender -shuffle- shuttle... I remember it well :) My former volunteer fire departement's tender was part of an all-state strike force and when it was forrest fire season, we'd do the shuffle pretty much all summer long. Kinda miss those days, now that I moved to big city EMS...
Hi Eric and Connor 😀 great vlog....it was interesting about the discrepancy on the brush fire call between the size on the original call and the park rangers' size description of the fire... happy there were no injuries nor damage. I'm also glad that on the barn fire call the wind didn't cause issues with the fire spreading....
I love your videos. They are so informational, and I enjoy watching what it really takes to be a firefighter. Is there anything special you need to become a PIO? Like what certifications and requirements do you need? Is your tenders the same thing as a tanker? What are the differences between the different class engines, and the different class brush trucks? Are you able to go out of multiple story buildings with the bail out kit. What is exactly a bail out kit.
Shabazz i think the reason they don’t show medical calls is because there are patients/other people involved and they most likely wouldn’t want their faces on the internet, but with fires there’s rarely any homeowners faces shown or information about them. so it’s probably a privacy thing
I am from Michigan, nice to see a patch from there... can you send me a list of ALL the patches from Michigan please or make a video please? Also a video of all the patches at least once every two months would be nice about all the patches... thanks!!!
Camera equipment question: What sort of lens or lenses do you two use for low light/nighttime photographs? Your night shots are always so sharp and well lit. Additionally, for a telephoto, what's your go-to lens?
South Metro Fire Rescue PIO DERS(Diesel Exhaust Removal System) NFPA required. Also they require turnout gear be stored in somewhere besides near the bays.
That would restrict the tender to wait until it is empty to go for the next load from the hydrant. This way you have 3000ish gallons port a tank + the tank of the engine(s) as a reservoir on scene + 3000gallons on the way in with the tender on the run. Also operations via an open basin is safer (danger of waterhammer from closing valves and "blown out tanks" on the receiving end engine are minimized) in addition it is easier to monitor (eyeballing the water still available on scene). Hydrant->via hose ->boostpump(s)->via hose -> attack engine is done when the hydrant is not too far away. (depending on situation) Greetings from Germany! Nice PIO work, guys! Keep it up!
